Okay, we all know they made it cel-shaded because they said it made it easier to discern attack patterns so you could use motionplus better. But if that is the case and if we assume Nintendo is going to have "better than Move" controller tech, what's going to change their attitude about using cartoon visuals to help users with motion control in the future?

All I'm saying is - don't get your hopes up.

Better graphics hurt no one, it's going to be a great thing. I believe your fear is more along the lines of the games on the system being the exact same games you get on the other two rather than unique 3rd party games like the wii, correct?

Absolutely not true. Sometimes graphical masturbation goes too far and literally hurts people. Even with the brightness turned down as low as possible the overuse of effects on some of the snow levels on Killzone 3 are an absolute killer. And that's just one example. You'd be surprised by the number of people who get a lot of sensory overload from the overuse of effects this generation.

I think his point is not that he's afraid of that happening (though that would be utter shit if it did and would make it the first disappointing NIntendo line-up) he's saying that people getting their hopes up that it will happend due to better hardware are going to be disappointed.

Edge said imagine Endless Ocean on PS3/360 and how much more amazing it would be, but my point was that the sort of improvements offered would not make a great deal of difference due to the nature of the game. If whatever the Endless Ocean equivelent on PS3 was called (can't remember lol) had as good animation as Endless Ocean (which obviously it could) it wouldn't have looked a great deal better. The improvement would have been marginal at best and basically in redundant areas for the type of game EO is. The point was made by me saying that the equivelent looked substantially worse despite being improved in all the areas that better hardware brings due to poor animation which is where your misunderstanding comes from, but I don't think that at all implied that better animation would not be possible on PS3 lol.

Also don't think I'm saying this is the case for all types of games. It was just something of a bad example. If he'd said Metroid Prime then it would have been a great example! (Though I think he's underestimating how good Metroid Prime 3 looked. Souped up GameCube? Maybe in places, but otherwise it looked comparable to many PS3/360 shooters IMO. Of course that just means the improvements could have been even better than perhaps he imagines.)

You're not looking at shit you're looking at fish. If the point of it was to inspect rocks then, yes, the game would be greatly improved by better hardware. Luckily it isn't.
