I want something close-ended, but Mercenaries 2 and Red Faction 3 are looking at me.  No RPG's either, since I am playing one on the hand held.

So... maybe Bionic Commando or Bayonetta.

Why did I hate it. . . darn good question.

First of all, you like it. And when you or anyone else likes I game that I wasn't immediately enthusiastic about I have to vehemently hate it.  It's part of my contract and half the reason I'm on the site. I have to be the guy that hates everything. Without me this place would be dull.

To be slightly more serious, it felt like too much of a throwback to me. I actually really enjoyed the first hour of the game because of that reason, but as it progressed it changed from charming to irritating.  The frequent random battles, the way story progressed and how even how the quests were laid out from point A to B to C.  Plus all of the story elements seemed too familiar. I kept feeling like I had already played this game before.

For me RPG's like the DQ 4,5,6 and FF1-6 are just right.  I like a bit of mindless scrolling around and random battles.  Mostly because when I play RPG's it is on a hand-held in bed.

I've played very few modern RPGs.  Probably (without thinking too much) Eternal Sonata and Shodow Hearts 2 are the only ones I've played.  Usually when I fire up a modern JRPG the childish voice-acting drives me away immediately.  Those old story-lines and characters don't seem acceptable away from their basic sprites.

I have hundreds of them, so I'll eventually have to get to like them, but for now I am happy playing catch-up with the older games.

Fallout: New Vegas is finally hitting it's stride.  I'd enjoy it as much as 3 if it were for the bugs.

Oh, this week, I've devoted time to Fallout: New Vegas, U2 and Katamari Forever.  Tuesday it's Gears 3 beta time!

Balcony+rockets? That was so annyoing, but Rico caught on fire at one point which made it all worth it.

He doesn't need to. It exists and it looks worse than Endless Ocean on the Wii due to far less realistic animation.
