Cool! Relax! I am updating my 3DS topic as I type this with REAL hands-on impressions!

The 3DS is mine and here are my impressions. I love the feel of the system, remember I did not have a DS lite so this is so nice and compact. The analog nub is perfect, best thing about the controls. D-pad feels like crap, other buttons are fine. Then I turned on the system and it has the coolest setup screen ever where it does a countdown to the 3D taking effect and all of a sudden the logo slowly becomes 3D like the Star Wars logo coming at you. All the menus are so sexy in 3D, 2D menus are so boring now.

The 3D effect felt completly natural, I could move the slider to any spot and still see it fine. Losing the 3D image is no issue unless you have spasms or something and can't hold a system kind of still, you can move quite a bit and keep the image in 3D. First thing I did was enter camera mode, the camera quality is ass, like crappy cell phone quality. That sucks cause the 3D effect is amazing, if this took good pictures it would be a revolution. I still had fun taking crazy 3D pics with my fingers coming at the screen, finding action figures with poses that jump out and stuff. Then you can manipulate the pictures in cool ways, it really showcases the 3D effect perfectly.

There is a game called face something, I forget but it takes your picture and makes your head a floating enemy, it animates it and everything. Its an AR game, you play using the camera so your room becomes the level then floating heads of yours come to attack you and you need to move the DS around to find them. I love the effects, slowly pieces of the room falls apart in 3D fashion so it flies at the screen, cool stuff. Its a simple game where you shoot the heads but again a nice showcase for 3D. I assume that yes you can take a picture of a penis so then you can have floating penii trying to kill you, sickos.

I created a mii by having it take a picture of myself and sort of generating a mii, it didn't do so well. Haven't mess around with the Mii stuff much nor the AR card game but I did see it for a bit and again impressive 3D stuff. Setting up the 3DS for the internet was very easy. I love the menu, very easy to organize and find everything.

I tried out SF4 next and even the menu looks cool (I'm telling you guys 3D menus kick ass, screw the actual game, its the menus that are wow). The 3D effect in the game is cool, the fighters are on one layer and the background in another so it has that added depth to it. Eventually you don't even care about the 3D, it just becomes a part of the overall package. Like great graphics, eventually you stop being wowed by them and get focused on the game you are playing, its always about the game and this is no exception. 3D isn't going to make games better, it's just a cool piece of tech to make the visual side more interesting.  There is a new mode in SF4 called 3D mode which puts the camera in an isometric view kind of over your characters shoulder, the 3D effects look better that way and its an interesting way to play. It plays well too, I wish the d-pad felt better, I used the analog pad instead.

Its charging now and I should get to bed, more impressions tomorrow.

That is an incredible deal but I too don't think it will last.  They will realise when people start exchanging games which are a few months old (and have lost more than half their value) for brand new games, that they're doing something wrong (for them) and will probably change it to something like having to return the game within a month rather than a year.  Which still wouldn't be such a bad deal

And there we have our 3DS killer ap.  If it allows for ad-hoc multiplayer then that could eliminate the need for chat-up lines and revolutionise speed dating
