I'm thinking about upgrading to a 10 Mb connection, but it's twice as expensive as my current 4 Mb one, and I don't know if it's worth the extra cost. I have no issue playing online, and I don't download huge files save for game updates or DLC.

Do you even pay for that or do you steal it from someone with open wi-fi? If you do pay you should be able to complain about it and get some action given that you are in one of the world's largest cities (as opposed to being in the middle of nowhere where no level of complaining will improe infrastructure).

My connection is 14Mbps, but I'd be perfectly fine with 7Mbps (the next step down and $15/month cheaper) but we have usage caps, and that would be going from 60GB/mos to 30GB, which is one thing I just don't want to worry about.

Is it typically just one person using the connection?  If so, then you're probably good, though I think of 7-10Mbps as the sweet spot to cover anyone except the constant torrent user or multi-user home happy.

The Swiss games ban story -- sounds like "cruel" is the loophole:

Kind of like "cruel and unusual punishment" in the US Bill of Rights.

Yeah, usually only one person. It's rare the occasion where there will be people using wireless, desktop connection and me at the same time playing online (which I seldom do, by the way). Even if there is more than one person, it will be something inconsequential like checking e-mails or playing games on Steam (for the authentication).

I hope my ISP comes with an intermediate 6-7 Mb, which they have, but only for businesses for the time being.

I love the disclaimer on the Activision press releases.  It is of course required because they are publically traded, but it doesn't make it any less entertaining:

Cautionary Note Regarding Forward-looking Statements: Information in this press release that involves Activision Publishing's expectations, plans, intentions or strategies regarding the future are forward-looking statements that are not facts and involve a number of risks and uncertainties. Activision Publishing generally uses words such as "outlook," "will," "could," "would," "might," "remains," "to be," "plans," "believes," "may," "expects," "intends," "anticipates," "estimate," future," "plan," "positioned," "potential," "project," "remain," "scheduled," "set to," "subject to," "upcoming" and similar expressions to identify forward-looking statements. What's that game magazine cover that just came out that only uses text for the graphics? Like old ascii art. Someone should do that with this text.

Anybody else playing Perfect Dark 64 Arcade? They did a great job, but some spots it seems the game is too dark and the lighting, which was always a bit crazy with the shiny lights, gets out of control and you can't see too well in some corridors, especially the 2nd level.

Anybody notice this?
