I tried Balder's Gate II and wasn't won over, but Mass Effect did get me interested; however, Mass Effect was also DRM hell, so I refused to buy it.

Oh and Bethesda > Bioware.
Fable is an action/adventure game disguised as an RPG.
Well they made KOTOR which is the best RPG I have ever played, but how much of that has to do with it being Star Wars, probably a lot. It was also my first Bioware game so all the dialogue choices and game structure was new to me. The problem with Bioware is that all their games follow the same structure. The settings change, the battle systems change, but at the core a Bioware game plays like a Bioware game (Mass Effect probably the exception cause it has real time shooting). You enter an area, there will be a major problem which the locals will ask you for help. There will also be side characters that you meet in the town that ask for help as well. You do missions, you meet people that you have to talk to in certain ways. Then you do the main mission which takes you to the area of combat, fight things, probably end with a boss, return for your reward and do it all over again in the next city.
That pic is amazing, its a dude with a giant sword riding a flaming horse while shooting a huge gun at monsters. Win.
I totally agree!
Which is why I laughed out loud with side-pains and jeering when BioWare said JRPGs never evolved!
So hypocritical, and the most arrogant thing I ever heard a developer said in this industry.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
You kinda forget who War is during the course of the game. Then you get Ruin (his pony) and you see just how powerful his attacks get while riding him; your reaction inevitably is: "Oh yeah... He's one of the Four HORSEMEN... Duh!"
Oh, and just so you don't think I didn't notice your comment...

Lies.
Fable is a bad game disguised as a competent one.
WTH are you guys doing *blows smoke up Bioware's butt* I've liked 2 out of the 3 Bioware games I've played, but tellingly, never completed any of them. Mass Effect is a pretty great game, I just got caught at a bottleneck.
Bethesda, I've only played Fallout 3 and Oblivion but I liked both, Fallout 3 less so.
sadly what i also got today was the mailing of the teaching materials for my two current open university course ... which means there'll be no real gaming for me for a very long time
i will still play TvsC online with you guys even if you beat me every time due to lack of practice. Robio i'm your best chance to rack up some wins

HA! ...and you didn't even have the chance to see my edit in the original post! Nice!
You're such a girl.
Oh yeah. I've actually played relatively few WRPG's. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and Icewind Dale on PC. Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire on Xbox. Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Mass Effect 1 & 2 on 360. By contrast I've been hooked on JRPG's ever since Dragon Warrior first hit the NES. I've played countless numbers of them since then and I'll likely pick up any JRPG that comes out on a home console in North America.
*Leo faints*
WOW! Endless Ocean 2 looks amazing. Too bad I'll likely never get it.
Not only was Final Fantasy XIII originally planned for the PlayStation 2, senior producer Yoshinori Kitase says that switching the title to the PS3 cost Square Enix "a year-and-a-half".
Late last week Kotaku posted pictures of the PS2 version of the game. The game, which was released on the PS3 last December in Japan, was formally announced as a PlayStation 3 title at the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles back in 2006.
"Final Fantasy XIII was originally meant to be a PS2 title, but we had to switch systems due to the arrival of the PS3," says Kitase. "That cost us about one and a half years and was constantly a case of trial and error."
So this is a bad thing, right? Not necessarily.
"However, because we worked so hard at the beginning, we got to a cruising speed much faster then anticipated and therefore could start on the translation and international voice recording process at an early stage of the development," Kitase continues. "It's because of this that we can release both the European as well as the American version barely three months after the Japanese release."
