So after posting like 8 new No More Heroes 2 trailers and even a No More Heroes HD port trailer a few days back, I'm pretty suprised that no one has said anything about them.

i normally go on media shutdown this long into development, especially if i'm already sold on a game.  same applies to deadly struggle

I'm the same way.  Desperate Struggle. along with Epic Mickey, is in my "media blackout" category. I'm already sold. I don't want to risk any more spoilers or anything else that could take away some of the fun or surprises out of the game.  The next time I look at the game is when it's playing on my TV.

Guessing fake since we have not even heard of a sequel and yet this has a firm launch date on the poster.

Challenge: Read the first three paragraphs of this story:

The members of Horse the Band are suffering from a touch of prop envy as they race around the country with a bunch of other rock bands.

If the pecking order stays the same, Horse will follow The Chariot when the tour hits the Chameleon Club in downtown Lancaster Saturday night. And that means Horse will be delayed getting on-stage.

"The Chariot has a ridiculous amount of props on-stage and no crew to help them take it off, so usually we start about 15 minutes late," says David Isen, Horse the Band's guitarist. "They have this gold thing with weird lights on it and their amps are real cool looking — and big."

His band, on the other hand, is in no-frills mode for this particular tour, which is headlined by Norma Jean and also includes Arsonists Get All the Girls and Ace Augustine.

"Probably we have the least amount of stuff on-stage that we've had in, like, three years," he says. "But, you know, we let the music and the performance speak for itself. We don't need any props."

Isen's only concern about The Chariot's accouterments is the nightly struggle to get them off the stage: He doesn't want it cutting into the band's stage time. As it is, the band only gets to play for about 35 to 40 minutes a night, which doesn't allow much time for the band to showcase its fine new album, "Desperate Living," released earlier this year.

"Sometimes it would be nice to throw a couple extra songs in there but it's the nature of the game when you're on a package tour with a lot of other bands," Isen says.

Horse the Band — not to be confused with Band of Horses, a Seattle-based indie rock band — got its start in Lake Forest, Calif., and plays a blend of hardcore and heavy metal called metalcore, as do the other bands on the bill.

Typically, the music is played at deafening volume and features thick slabs of sound shaped by precisely played guitars. The throat-scraping vocals are shouted, not sung.

Horse the Band, however, has always used keyboards played by Erik Engstrom as a central element in its sound. His fondness for trying to replicate the sound of Nintendo video games led to Horse the Band's music being dubbed Nintendocore.

Its role in the band's sound, however, is more than a gimmick as about half of its songs are written on the keyboard. The band also tends to use the keyboard to shift a song's tempo and dynamics.

"It's become kind of in vogue recently, I think," Isen says of the keyboard's use in metalcore. "There's a lot of bands that came after us that achieved a great deal more success than us, which is a little frustrating. But none of them use the keyboard in the same way we do, as a central component of the music."

Isen said he became a musician because he didn't know what he wanted for his 16th birthday and asked for a guitar.

"I didn't have a desire to really learn to play the guitar," he says. "I just thought it would be cool to have one and fool around with it now and then. But I got way into it immediately and just started playing all the time — learning, improving and eventually starting a band."

He and Engstrom have known each other since the fifth grade and started the band when they were seniors in high school. Nathan Winneke, who played drums and then bass before becoming the band's singer, joined a few years later. The rhythm section has constantly changed over the years.

Horse the Band released its first album, "R. Borlax," in 2003 and since then has released a new one every two years.

Isen says he and Engstrom originally planned to start a pop-punk-ska band but things evolved.

"I don't even know if we settled on anything," he says. "I think it's still always changing. It's always becoming something new every time we get together and make more music."

Hey everyone! I'M about to BEAT a game!!!

I just finished the Story of Momohime in Muramasa: The Demon Blade, and I will probably finish Kitsuke tonight!

You can teleport between save shrines on the map once finishing the game, so I will probably finish the Monster Dens, Forge all the swords and Find the Hidden Bosses.

It's not too often I care about Completing a game entirely, but this one is just that good!

I can't imagine playing the game with the Wii-Mote D-Pad. You need quick, fluid movements. I think it would absolutely KILL your thumbs to use anything but analog.

Developer roundtable focuses on Wii:
Devs say Wii owners only want first party games, shovelware ruined the market

David Amor, Creative Director, Relentless Software: Is the Wii alive to anyone except Nintendo at the moment? A couple of years ago I took calls from EA asking us to consider developing for Wii. My answer then is the same as it is now: the Wii consumer is well served by first party Nintendo software and they rarely step away from the franchises they’re familiar with. Being a third party publisher with new IP on Wii is a commercially dangerous position. It’s a great machine but I doubt I’ll ever make a game for it.

Anonymous – studio head at a leading international developer: The Wii has, and will continue to, open up gaming to a much broader demographic than the other consoles have been able to. The accessibility provided by the Wiimote removes a barrier that scares many ‘non-traditional’ gamers from playing video games. However, the limited power of the console means it is difficult for it to compete with the very latest generation of games on PS3 and 360, at least in terms of the ‘wow factor’. I think there is still a big potential market for Wii games which are based on accessible and original gameplay for a whole range of gamers from both the core gaming world and new entrants. However the relative ease of making a Wii game in comparison to PS3 and 360 development, means it has become too easy to flood the market with under-developed product which have the potential to confuse and disappoint the public. A few more high quality, high profile Wii only games would add much to its market profile.

Gary Penn, Creative Director, Denki Ltd: I have an ongoing love-hate relationship with Nintendo. I love aspects of their projected attitude, like their child-like innocence and their belief that the sheer power of the technology isn't as important as what you do with it, which has resulted in some incomparable software and hardware – and plenty of tribute acts. I hate most of what's done with the Wii – including most of its 'operating' system. I can't be arsed with most of the games on it apart from some of Nintendo's, but I have infinitely more fun playing with the Wii and my kids than I do any other platform. The Wii's not exactly a barrel of laughs to work on either, especially after Xbox. It's a real love-hate challenge to get the most out of the Wii Remote. You have to fake it big time to really make it work and no one else seems to fake it as well Nintendo. I guess most of the industry's still trying to be too clever for its own good.

Yeah you can play the entire game using only the Nunchuck and one of the buttons on it.  The dev said that's the intended control scheme.  Most people I've heard bitch about the game use the wiimote sideways, not realizing the alternate controls.

They wanted to do the game on the Wii but then their marketing people got all over them about using the wii-mote through out the game.  They did not want to use the wiimote, they felt it would be too tiring for motion controls, so they instead focused on using only the nunchuck -- and that got them out of having to do motion controls.

Play magazine had a 16 or 18 page article on Muramasa and the interview with the two lead devs convinced me to buy the game (along with your pimping of it).

David Amor, Creative Director, Relentless Software

Gary Penn, Creative Director, Denki Ltd

Denki Ltd is yet to make a video game.

Relentless makes Buzz -- and that's all.  So that would explain why these assholes have nothing of value to say.

(for those of you keeping score, that is what we call an ad hominem attack).

Hey guys, here is November's NPDs.

I wanted to wait for DVader to post this, but since I'm not seeing one, might as well dish out the latest NPD thread.

As expected, MW2 dominates. NSMBWii did incredibly well also. I personally believe NSMBWii will have longer legs though. And finally to note, Reggie was wrong in that both versions of MW2 outsold NSMBWii but NSMBWii had 5 fewer days on the shelf. And those annalists were dead wrong when they said the PS3 version of MW2 will sell more. You know what, forget those annalists. They have no idea what they're talking about! They're always wrong!

And the 360 outsold the PS3 probably because of MW2. Looks like the 360 is the preferred console when it comes to mutiplatform online games. Or the price drop hype is over.

And just look at the difference between the 360 and PS3 for Modern Warfare 2! surprised.gif MW2 will sell more on PS3? Yeah, whatever annalists. Didn't they also predict that Borderlands would flop?

Of course. I contradict myself all the time. Why should this be any different?
