The Wii price drop is definitely needed, but I'm still somewhat surprised that it'll be this soon. I figured they'd do a repackage first.

I thought Nintendo would take out Wii-Sports and just sell a stand-alone system. They did that with the NES, SNES, and N64. I think Gamecube was the only system that didn't include a game, right?

N64 didn't include one either, at launch anyway. They did include Donkey Kong 64 with it near the end of its lifespan, though.

Oh. I thought Mario 64 was included. Or did I buy that with the system? I don't remember. My parents bought it for me at that time.

Yeah, it was sold separately.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story 8.75 out of 10(2nd Opinion 8.75

They were talking about this on the PlayerOnePodcast ealier today. Phil Theobald was saying some very nice things about it -- that the writing was very humorous and the gameplay varied.

I dont want to get this game, I couldn't complete Partners in time because of the Bomb Boss and I felt it was getting more and more fiddly, controlling 4 characters etc. But IGN gave it a 9.5.

I think we could all live with that! Grinning

Destructoid: Why the PSP is blatantly better than the DS

LOL

WarioWare Snapped: More like WankioHair Crapped!

LOL

It has often been said that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is the greatest story ever told. In fact, several Islamic churches (Synagogues) are using Advent Children to replace the Koran because it is so much more relevant and true. It really is among the most influential and inspiring cinematic marvels of our time, joining such celluloid classics as Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Cool Runnings and Critters III to become an icon of film.

LOL

Seriously, what good is a well-made game if it looks like shit? The DS is incapable of producing good looking games, with most titles looking like they were made on a Sega Genesis or something. That's not what people want from their videogames! They want graphics. The PSP has ten hundred more graphics than the DS, making it the technologically superior system. Just compare Coded Arms to New Super Mario Bros. I think we can all agree which is the better looking, thus better playing, game (it is Coded Arms).

If you think that gameplay is somehow better than graphics, you really need to stop being so shallow. I am sick of gameplay whores who think that things can look like shit so long as they have clever mechanics, tight controls and fun ideas. That's certainly not what I got into gaming for, and anybody who truly cares about games being taken seriously as an art form would agree with me.

LOL Did someone here write that last one?

Steel writing fro Destructoid? I officially hate the man!

8. CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE INFINITY WARD ACTIVISION ACTIVISION BLIZZARD

Still number 8 in the all format UK charts. Do you see this? The price will never come down. How old is this game?

I imagine it will plummet once Modern Warfare 2 is released but I think you may as well just pick up MW2 anyway. I guess they're just taking a page from Nintendo's book. Look at how many games they have out that have yet to see a price drop and worse some of those games aren't even high up on the charts anymore.

The problem is that they release these GOTY editions too which go on forever and particularly here, the COD franchise is like NSMB popping up in NPD. I have wanted to buy the first game for an age but its never come down to a reasonable price and now the Wii version is around the corner with IR, which I like. It hacks me off as I would rather have been playing it months ago. And I wont play MW2 till I sample the first.

Its time for CARNAGE CORNER!!!

This time he actually has good news. He reveals that the wii will get a price drop but its his post that is interesting:

Kotaku posted a Toys' R' Us ad indicating a $50 Wii pricedrop at the tail end of September so anybody planning on buying it for their mom or whoever might want to hold off for a bit.

LOL

Is Don Frye's moustache going to be in the movie as well? That's the only thing that's missing.

It should be on the title.

I love the idea but I have a feeling the movie will be crapola. Stratham Li and Lungren have been straight to dvd movie specialists for years, they might as well have thrown Seagal into the mix. Any movie with wrestlers in is pretty bad but the Rock gets a little slack. And Hulk Hogan Nyaa He was in the A Team with BA! Grinning

Good thing I'm still waiting to get a Wii. I hope that price drop is true! Just in time!

Your mom will be delighted LOL

Just finished listening to the IGN podcast. LOL so now Cassamasina is going to be using IGN as his own personal blog across all channels and with no editorial constraint. WTF?

I feel sorry for the other channels LOL

So:

According to exclusive NPD Group data provided to Gamasutra, sales of World at War on the Wii have finally reached over 750,000.

That's just in the US. They are trying to predict MW sales.

Dead Space extraction GI reviews

(7-Reiner)

The horror of being hunted in the vacuum of space never quite takes grip in Dead Space: Extraction, a Wii-exclusive prequel to the exceptional Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 space drama. Whether that's due to the perspective switch from third- to first-person, the lack of dynamic lightning, or weaker scripted scares can be debated. One thing is certain: I didn't jump once while playing this game. Without a suspenseful atmosphere, there isn't much to fear, or, conversely, to draw you in.

Dead Space: Extraction runs on rails, pulling the player forward a a scripted pace. Developer Visceral Games did a commendable job of making this experience feel more organic. Shaky cameras constantly distort your field of view, and you can hear your character's labored breathing. As intended, the bobbing camera combined with dancing shadows plays tricks on your eyes, and can lead to a few shots being fired at nothing.

This dynamic viewpoint clashes with the targeting reticle, a gigantic, beach ball-like display that takes up far too much of the screen, hiding the excessive brutality and highest quota of dismemberment per enemy body in any game. If you're playing the game co-op, with two vibrantly colored cursors on screen, you're not going to see much unless an enemy gets on top of you. This another area where the game doesn't retain the charm of its predecessor. Not having to worry about the positioning of your character makes for easier battles. Since the dev team held true to its fiction and hasn't altered the enemies to attack in different ways, their sloth-like assaults are easy to repel.

Storytelling is the only area where Extraction shines, even more so than the original game. The plot implies that other things may be afoot in this universe than players may have thought, and the way this information is doled out - through multiple playable characters - is executed beautifully, especially when you don't know if your character at the time will survive. Several of the story sequences conclude in horrific ways (more than just the chance of a good guy dying), and also connect nicely with the founding tale.

The action doesn't do much for the series, or even the genre for that matter. The pacing is much slower than your typical House of the Dead, and the firefights never feel like a stressful ordeal . Dead Space fans should check it out for the fiction. All other interested parties should look else-where for a suspenseful shooter.

(8.75-Meagan) Second Opinion

A refreshing surprise amongst a sea of unsatisfying Wii adaptations, Dead Space: Extraction's unfaltering intensity and intriguing storyline makes the game worth of the Dead Space moniker. New monsters, weapons, and characters expand upon the groundwork laid by the original thriller, and the realistic execution and pace of gameplay makes it easy to forget that your are on rails. Responsive controls, stellar voice acting, impressive visuals, and noteworthy unlockables make the game's gravitational pull that much stronger.

Minor flaws keep Extraction from making par with its predecessor, most notably the large reticles that obscure the bulk of approaching Necromorphs - making cutting off their limbs more of a gross estimate that a precise task. As with many rail shooters, gameplay is formulaic at times, particularly in the case of boss battles. But Extraction is every bit as creepy as its predecessor - perhaps more so since the game's rails pull you around that corner.

Dead Space: Extraction isn't a simple substitute for those who missed the first iteration. It's a must-play for the fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.

I'm still not planning on buying Mario and Luigi's inside story but having to post the reviews I've had to read snippets here and there and the reviews are REALLY complimentary. Especially to me who was put off by Partners in time 4 character all button mash up.

Kotaku:

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story may be the best entry yet in the portable role-playing game series. Alpha Dream and Nintendo have slathered detail on every aspect of the game, expanding the experience well beyond what Partners In Time brought to the franchise. Even better, there's little of the repetition or control complexity that bogged down that entry. It's easy to recommend to just about any Nintendo DS owner, a near-perfect correction from the misstep that was Partners In Time.

Even if you don't consider RPGs your "thing" it's worth checking out what Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story has to offer, especially if you've never played a Mario & Luigi game before. This is some of the best content to grace the Nintendo DS, a gorgeously produced game that delivers on all fronts. Find a place for it on your list of games to play this year.
