Wesley Haeke, Kendo Champion: "When I played swordplay in Wii Sports Resort, I was surprised how realistic the Wii Motion Plus sensor made the game. I had to hold the controller exactly as I would a Shinai to get the precision I wanted, as well as holding stances such as jodan no kamae exactly as I would in a tournament to beat my opponent. Winning the game requires concentration, patience and precision, just as in real life."
Melissa Reid, Professional Golfer: "I expected precision from the Wii MotionPlus, but I didn't expect this! Every rotation through the body and the way I held the Wii controller was reflected in Wii Sports Resort. The option of three, nine or 18 holes was great as it meant I could do a quick-fire round or take my time; the graphics are really impressive too. Believe me - it wasn't easy hitting birdie and I certainly spent my fair share of time in the rough!"
Danilo Gallinari, Pro Basketball Player: "The three-point basketball challenge in Wii Sports Resort was fantastic. The precision of the Wii MotionPlus meant I really had to focus to accurately shoot the hoops and with the clock ticking I definitely started to feel the pressure. The Wii MotionPlus demands precision and won't let you off with a limp-wristed slam dunk; you really need to give it your all!"
Gema Buitron, Archery Champion: "Seeing my sport reflected exactly on screen was amazing! I loved that the levels got progressively harder and that I needed to factor distance and wind speed into my shot. The precision was remarkable and I found I really had to concentrate to ensure I was scoring highly. I was particularly impressed with how the controller emulated an archery bow, with the Wii Remote acting as the bow and pulling the Nunchuck back like the string, to determine the strength of the shot."
Wow, Day one
Unless I find cheap games again!
Sure, as fun as having a fucking piranha gnawing at your ballsack. So much joy.
I'm not even touching that abhorrent attempt at classification you tried up there. Are you seriously creating a whole genre ("Insane"? get the fuck out ) for that fucking turd?
You have 2D fighters, 3D fighters, and shit like Brawl and the turtle games.
You have sim racers (hardcore like PC games, or noob friendly like GT and Forza) and arcade racers (Burnout, Midnight Club). And shit like MK and ExciteTurds.
It all depends on your opponent. I'd defy you to button mash your way out of a fight with someone who knows what he's doing in a fighting game. If you win by button mashing that says more about your adversary than about you or the game itself.
I'm sure the reaction would be something like a loud, wet fart. A big cheekrattler with lots of moisture.
Well, I have no idea where to put it. Technically you do not even have to win the race to finish first. No way in hell you can put it in the same genre as Mario Kart.
So where do you put the new UFC game? You can't put it in the same genre as Virtua Fighter.Where do you put WipeOut and F-Zero?
No, it also depends on the game. Button mashing will not work at all in Virtua Fighter, and you will probably suicide yourself in Brawl. Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat ar much more button mashing friendly. Heck in Mortal Kombat 5 there are some moves that are completely broken. There is a reason why fighting fans hate the MK series.
I will concede that point alone. And only because you said that MK is shit.
I was at Baskin Robbins last night with Miyamoto (he can scarf down rum raisin like nobody's business) and we talked about racing games. He made a pretty good point about why a game like Mario Kart is ultimately going to be more successful than most of the racing games and it has very little to do with Mario believe it or not.
As racing games get more and more realistic, they become less fun to play. Most gamers are old enough to drive cars now. In fact, they've been driving for many many years. There's just no thrill to it anymore. It's the same reason why adults don't do the car racing at Disney World. Why pretend to drive when it's something that's more or less an everyday hassle?
Mario Kart on the other hand offers something different with the crazy tracks, obstacles, shells, etc. No matter how many years of driving you do you're not going to be dodging turtle shells, racing down waterfalls, and dodging cows (well assuming you're not a really shitty driver).
That's Miyamoto's viewpoint anyway. And we're going to a water park tomorrow for those who are curious.
Robio kicks ass.
I have dodged cows.
Having said that, even though I drive every day, I don't usually have the chance to storm through Nürburgring driving a teal Koeniggsegg. Some people like a certain dose of realism (in the visual field, and to some extent, in the physics and mechanics fields as well, although not so much that it becomes a chore to get ready for a race) in their racing games, others like a more laid back approach, uncompromising even.
You going to do watersports with Miyamoto?
This site is awesome today, we need to fight more often.
Robio is full of win again.
you are a sick sick man

I know.
I love that idea you got, I am in. I can write about games all day long, that is something that comes easy to me. I would love to do something like that on a podcast, but we never seem to be playing the same game, or we have the same opinion of it.
I am down if you can get a jury. We can do PH right now, I will be the guy against it and was it Robio that really likes it? Well whoever it was that loved it can be the other dude. The problem is finding an impartial jury.
He said he was going to a water park! He was
asking fordemanding me to say that!I am shocked that that game is selling. Out of all their games I figured that would be the weirdest most niche of the group.
Bayonetta will easily be its biggest seller when it hits though.
Well the geeks like Star Trek, and geeks have computers, so.......
But he said he was taking me to the park. I hope you drown!
So I guess no Ghostbusters for me this weekend, all of them are rented out, well the Wii version was there but I want to play the main version first.
Next week once I am done with my tests I will be getting the gamers month pass at BB, ulimited rentals for a month. I am eyeing Bionic Commando, Prototype, Red Faction, CoD WoW for the PS3. For the Wii they have Indiana Jones so I will try that, probably try Ghostbusters wii to see the different, the Conduit should come out around that time so I will play that. And whatever else I want to try.
I am quite happy to defend Phantom Hourglass (finest Zelda game ever made), but I'm afraid this won't be the day for it. I'm not going to be around much tonight. Got to make it an early night as I actually am going to a water park tomorrow; Aquatica - SeaWorld's new water park. Miyamoto may or may not actually be able to make it though. He had a root canal today (the ice cream last night was sort of a last hurrah before going to the dentist), and he's still not feeling real well so he may have to take an extra day to just chill.
You got a baby to take care of. You shouldn't be trying to hang out with middle aged Japanese developers right now anyway.
You truly are a sick man. There's nothing sick about the bromance that Miyamoto and I have going on.
