I played GTA CTW for the first time this weekend, didn't get very far into it yet but it certainly seems to be a solid title!
My best guess is that most people who are long running fans of GTA have got used to the 3D enviroments with enhanced graphics with the same gameplay and are just not prepared for the more "old school" feel of CTW.
I suppose I'm relating to something like Wind Waker, when that was first announced alot of people couldn't get there head round the graphical change (I was worried to begin with too I have to say) but it turned out to be a great game! I just hope the people who love there GTA will get over it and enjoy the experience.
i think the direction of this game is pretty revolutionary and it's not getting the credit it deserves. the view is not top-down like the first two GTAs, which is something i heard many times before. it's not - strictly speaking - isometric either. it's perhaps something in between, but the perspective is kind of weird in a good way and the way the camera zooms in and out a bit to give you more control makes it look and play just great. the colour pallete is also really sweet. i'd probably go as far as to say that this for me is the best looking DS game, better than phantom hourglass.
i have no doubt you will have a really great time with chinatown wars. there's so much to do, all of which is really enjoyable and it's so streamlined in execution that nothing feels a drag like in previous GTAs.

Isn't that Aspros room?![Nyaa](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
It does look pretty cool. I like the setting. I still haven't gotten around to the first, despite having it for over a year now? LOL
Not really. Last year they said they had a big game for the core in the winter, that game was Animal crossing. Given that its a huge cannon franchise on its 4th iteration, that's not a bad assesment. Just more of a misjudged use of wording. We also in europe at least, got Disaster Day of Crisis.
From what Reggie and Cammie are saying, they know that last year disappointed a lot of people and they had just come off finishing a few big games. If you judge development cycles there should be a lot to show this year, even if it doesn't come out this year.
Damn right. I love this game.
Details on the hell please![Happy](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-smile.gif)
I was talking about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. I liked it but it wasn't a normal JRPG, more like Gauntlet. Tell us your madworld impressions in the thread.
Cool. That Nielsen story was a ****up. Two days later they correct it.
Link me to the thread.
Graphics are bad? I love the engine and the graphics. Drug trading is what LOL? You tap a few icons and make moolah. This is objectionable in a GTA GAME!? LMAO
I dont feel the game is old school at all. It has just about every element from GTA that GTA has.
All you can really say is that it has no voice acting and an overhead perspective which, if anything, serves the gameplay much better. The additions make the game more seamless too.
I'm saying it's better than the home console games, but its just as worthy and if anyone, upon anyone is the person who buys all the home console GTAs, they owe it to themselves to get this game.

Did the updates![Happy](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-smile.gif)
That thread, ugh someone needs to post the metacritic reviews of this game.
First pic is Dead Space Wii. The rest are Bayonetta.

Platinum games. It looks like the Excitebots of fighters![Nyaa](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Where is Archie, if I can tempt his Mario Kart code out of him I will give him this:
IGN has a great excitebots interview up:
IGN: Excite Truck was a surprisingly fun arcade racer. It's still one of the best racing games on Wii, in fact. But seriously, robots? This is a fun idea, but what prompted you to go this route for the sequel over a traditional experience or even a full-blown Excitebike?
Richard Garcia / Hiro Yamada: First of all, we feel flattered at your compliments. Thanks very much.
To answer your question, this project started out as a racing game focusing on "transformation"-based gameplay, not on robotic vehicles. In the course of the development, we'd been thinking "what kind of fun things could we do to allow the player to perform crazy tricks in addition to familiar tricks like big air?" As a result, our vehicles got two legs to climb up stairs, an arm to grab a bar and then wings (in glider form) to glide through the air. Because of these changes, we felt we needed to change from realistic 4WD trucks to something else so that the vehicles would be better blended with the unique game-play. That's how we came up with the bugs/critters-based design.
IGN: At first glance, Excitebots looks very similar to Excite Truck. What advancements have you made to the 3D engine to allow for superior visuals? Richard / Hiro: For Excitebots, we re-worked the game engine to allow our environments to have twice the detail as before. This involved spending months squeezing out every last byte of wasted space, optimizing our graphics algorithms to handle more detail and enhancing our graphics engine by creating a custom shader language to allow more texture passes on all our geometry. Finally, the graphic style has been changed a lot under the supervision of staff from Mr. Miyamoto's group. They really helped us make more colorful and interesting environments. All you need to do is look at the screenshots to see the huge difference.
IGN: Has the control scheme changed at all? If so, how? If you want to play with the nunchuk or classic controller, can you?
Richard / Hiro: For this game, we added support for the Wii Wheel. As part of this change, we overhauled the controls to be tighter and more responsive. This makes driving with the Wii Wheel more natural and easier than ever. Of course, we've always been supporting the original control scheme from Excite Truck. Both schemes work equally well and there is no inherent advantage to choosing one over the other. It really comes down to player preferences.
IGN: Tell us how the online mode works. Six-player over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, is it?
Richard / Hiro: Online mode is amazing and a lot of fun. We support both the regular Excite Racing and a new mode called the Poker Race. In the Poker Race, the goal is to collect poker cards and try to make high scoring hands. This requires a combination of strategy, quick thinking and a little luck.
A interesting new feature of online play through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is the ability to place bets on yourself. Let's say you feel good about doing well in the next race. You can purchase a token worth up to 2500 points to bet on yourself for that race. At the end of the race, depending on your race results and a little luck, you can earn up to 6 times your original bet. Even if you come in last place, you have a chance of earning extra points. Betting is a great way to earn a lot of points to purchase new paint schemes, statues and other items.
I would get this over Punch out.![Nyaa](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
I bet you would, Lord Hobbington.
Wow, Bayonetta looks sweet. And it looks like it will have the spice of the life as well. Nothing like averagely aliased virtual ass to arouse my dormant groin.
I still can't get over the main character. The trailer is like SO Capcom, only capcom from a few years back when they were batshit crazy.
Now the characters are like english schoolteachers fighting each other. Awesome.
Colour seems too de-saturated to me though.
At least she does not look like a shirtless white haired tranny, like in the DMC-games.
She looks like Sarah Palin. We all know that Palin is born in Mona Lisa's time, so that would explain the massive ammount of hair!
btw, Matt Cassmassina was saying about a big, high quality thrid party game being announced for the Wii this month, just wondering (seeing as I've been out of action for a bit) if that was the Silent Hill game or if it's something we're waiting to hear about still?
It was Silent Hill.
BTW Virtua Tennis 09 supports Motionplus confirmed. The fight is on between Grand Slam tennis and this.

....Yes? Wii Motion Plus?
They better be giving out those extended Wii Condoms for free as well.
Doom 4 not a reboot or sequel
Also, not coming out until 2015, but we will be showing TONs of pics and videos over the next six years just to torment you.
