Notre Dam is burning.

Anyone remember it in Timesplitters 2?

It's a horrible tragedy. Seems like the loss will be huge, the whole roof is gone.

On a lighter note, I'm currently watching Italian Big Brother. All the women in it make Barbie look realistically proportioned in comparison and are dressed to show maximum cleavage. It's insane. And then the camera slowly films them from their legs up to their face and back down again for maximum ogling. Truly la dolce vita.

Yeah quite sad to see such a historical monument like that burn down. Sad

Well, well, well, it looks like Capcom will be making an announcement tomorrow. Looks like another classic arcade compilation. The preview video showed slightly obscured clips from Darkstalkers, SSFII, a couple shooters and Alien v. Predator.

Looks like we either have some kind of CPS2 compilation or maybe a new Capcom Vs game.

I’m really hyped to see what it might be. A new Capcom Vs or All-Star game would be awesome. I’d even be happy with an arcade compilation game as well.

In the age of everything being filmed, at least spectacular architecture makes for fires as spectacular as they are heart breaking. Sad

Sounds like it's pretty tame for Italian TV, then.

Sounds good. Big Brother here is dead.

On a heavier note, seems like Notre-Dame burned out pretty thoroughly. There's small comfort to be had in the fact that apparently much worse has been averted and that the interior seems to have survived better than expected. Still a grave loss that will take a lot of time and funding to be overcome. I wonder if they'll go for a full on Faithfull recreation or will opt for a more modern reinterpretation...

I don't know I feel a bit odd about these sudden huge donations promised by billionaires or huge companies in excess of 100 million euros each. If they had that sort of cash lying around why didn't they give it to help out homelessness or poverty?

Because that doesn't give them (free) advertising.
Also, donating to a good cause of public use can result into tax reductions of 90% of the sum. So donating 100 million gives you great advertising, while only costing you 10 million when all is said and done. They're basically forcing the French government to pay for the whole thing themselves.

In a way it's fitting as most great works of religious art like Notre Dame were originally built as massive (albeit spiritual) tax dodges that also gave those who commissioned them great publicity at the time.

I'm sure the government will be more than happy to give them a piece of parchment stating that all of the donor's previous sins are forgiven instead of giving them tax cuts upwards of €100 million.

wtf, Capcoms new arcade stick mini console has Aliens vs Predator on it. Why wasn't this on the beat em up bundle?

Possibly licensing issues? That was a Fox property that is now a Disney one right?

The price for the damn thing is my problem. $229 for a 16 game CPS1 compilation?? I get it, the stick is worth some money, but I'm sorry that is ridiculous.

Yeah that Capcom thing isn’t exactly what I was hoping for and it’s definitely pricey but I’ll be damned if I don’t want one. I think the thing looks extremely cool and to be a quality product. Kind of skimpy on the number of games on it but there is definitely some cool ones there. The thing that interests me the most is that it is wi-fi enabled. It would be great if they make it so you can download more games onto it.

I love the look and idea of it but the practicality? I assume it is wired into your tv and obviously power socket and then it has to sit on a table or the floor to use it with two players?

Or have that huge thing resting on your lap as you legs go numb.

Plus I'm not sure I want to play these games with a joystick like the old days. I'd prefer convenience. Just make the games cheap and put them on the Sony/Xbox/Nintendo stores

Four more games would have been nice or at least a few of the rare ones like Willow and the Punisher. That line-up just seems weak. I mean at this point Street Fighter 2 games have been released and rereleased so many times they don't add any value.

Yeah I’d love for Capcom, and other companies for that matter, to just put out their classic games on the home consoles. They probably won’t be pumping out a lot of these things and it’ll just be a cool collectable for a niche audience.
