Is anyone safe anymore?
"Announcements are coming... I also know studios like Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco and many others are just waiting. They have games they want to announce for the platform. They have a lot of support for this platform.
"...It's going to be a very important Direct for Nintendo, to say 'this is the third-party support we have, look at the games, they can stand up to those other systems' be it from a visual or performance standpoint, and 'we are a viable platform for you to select moving forward' to experience third-party releases."
He also adds how Microsoft is still expected to be a "big supporter of the system", with Activision's title Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 arriving on Switch 2 last week.
Of course, games like Elden Ring, Star Wars Outlaws and Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade are arriving later this year as well. FromSoftware's Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is also scheduled for next year, and last week, 2K locked in NBA 2K26 for the new platform following its confirmation of WWE 2K25.
just depressing. And suits patting themselves on the back about how much money they've made off those games too. Makes me not want to follow the news of the industry anymore.
Things have been getting more and more sparse around here these days. Was able to pick up Death Stranding 2 at my local Best Buy but Walmart never got any in. Bought Dragon’s Dogma 2 digitally because neither BB or Walmart ever got the game in. Those are some of the big games too, many smaller games never get stocked. Nintendo game selection is still good for now though. Don’t expect any issues picking DKB up at either store.
Yeah, what a racket. "You can get the blue suit and heavy gun. A Gamestop exclusive but ONLY if you preorder."
This is not the first time we've seen the Metroid Prime 5 rumor.
Can I just play Metroid Prime 4 first.
The second it transpired MK was going open world you just knew it'd involve a lot of grinding to artificially pad out the experience.
Yeah, the government channel and a commercial channel. It was good, though. We were so bored that we'd take the TV apart and put it back together (amazed we didn't electrocute ourselves). I told my brother, one day we'll be able to pause and rewind live TV. He said it was impossible. I explained we would be able to buffer the signal on some form of cassette (this was about 1983).
I was disciplined in year 2 because the teacher said, "Did you children watch Pam Ayers (poet) on the government channel last night. I said yes, in fact, we taped it. She challenged me, and I said, My parents taped it. I was sent to the principal's office because it was fanciful that anyone at the time could own a video recorder, and I was lying. (I put all this together years later).
My Mum had taped the audio on a reel-to-reel recorder so we could listen to it when we wanted.
Fucking small brains.
The most shocking and dating part of this whole story is a poet being on TV.
Niiice.
Did you guys ever try the demo of the new Murder on the Orient Express game?
Went to Walmart and picked up Donkey Kong Bananza and there was only one copy there. They may have sold some before I got mine but I kind of doubt that it was that many. That’s bananas!
I bought but haven't spent much time with it.
I've seen the movie. If you guys just want to skip the game I can tell you how it ends.
Nah, I own it. I read the book not too long ago as well.
If you look up Pam Ayers' work, you'll see how a poet ended up on TV. Very broad poetry. Here is what AI produced when I asked it to write a poem about you in the style of Pam Ayers (nailed it):
I’m gonna tell you 'bout Tom Towers,
A chap who spends his waking hours,
Not gardening or baking pies,
But gaming, with discerning eyes.
He’s got a podcast, quite renowned,
Where pixel talk and lore abound.
He’ll chat for hours, deep and wide,
On frame rates, shaders, anti-aliasing pride.
He’s not impressed by sloppy scenes,
Or muddy rocks in gaming greens.
“Those textures look like mashed-up chalk!”
He’ll mutter in his Aussie talk.
And if you dare to name Clair Obscure,
He’ll scoff and say, “The end’s unsure!”
“It fizzles out, it lacks finesse,
A narrative unholy mess!”
But still he plays, with furrowed brow,
Inspecting cliffs and granite now.
“Look at that boulder! What a joke!
It’s polygonal, and poorly woke!”
So here’s to Tom, with specs and sass,
A gaming gent of highest class.
He’ll rate your rocks, your quests, your lore,
Then podcast on it — and ask for more!
You ever put something somewhere and think, “I’ll put it here so I’ll remember where I put it”? That’s the kiss of death for finding it again. I do it all the time. I’ll tuck my passport into a “safe place” so I won’t lose it. Six months later, I’m tearing apart drawers like a raccoon in a garbage bin.
It’s like my brain makes a solemn promise to remember, and then immediately breaks it. I don’t know who I think I’m fooling. I’ve got a dozen “safe places” and not one of them is safe from me forgetting it exists.
You know what never gets lost? Junk mail. I could find a flyer for a pizza place from 2003 faster than I can find my spare car key.
Sorry for straying into Robio's Andy Rooney bit. I just want to know if this is something everyone does.
The developer doesn't do a straight conversion of the story. Murder on the Orient Express had an extended epilogue with a new ending.
The game itself was modernised too, the time period I mean and had a secondary protagonist.
I kinda want to replay it right now.
There also an excellent adventure game called The Raven: remastered which has a very classic movie vibe.
I think Foolz was all over that game. Ah yes, just found his review:
