Whenever I look at my DS Lite and game collection all the carts are in a game card case. The adaptor isn't a giant brick.
I could break it out and play within minutes and not have to deal with dodgy shit, like wires everywhere and tv resolution mismatch.
Same for 3DS.
I feel consoles need to be more accessible.
I've seen some 4terabyte, obviously dodgy retro game PCs with shitloads of old games on board.
Tomorrow don't state of play and some silent hill event, e3 season is kicking off! I am not really expecting much. Nintendo won't be showing much of anything cause they are waiting for switch 2. Sony has nothing but Astro bot. RE might not be shown as 9 is still a ways off and zero is probably next. I have zero faith in SH. So let's see if anything surprises. Oh MGS3 remake, that's should be cool.
I've been playing Dragons Dogma 2 which is an odd game that's a lot like the first one. The different classes have cool unique skills, in switching around trying them out but you are limited to four attack skill slots, but you can learn way more than four, you have to pick your four and can only switch them at camp sites. Why? Also how is there no pawn direct command, I can't tell a pawn to use a certain skill, you just have to hope they do it. The world is extensive but it's mostly junk mobs with some scattered boss enemies around, most stuff you find is the usual RPG junk. The best parts of the game are when you are out in the world away from a camp, low on health, need to reach safety while a giant ass boss is hunting you, that's fun. Most of the time though I'm just going through the motions.
I also played Crow Country which is an indie RE style game, cool but nothing too great.
and I got in the Mario mood so I started up sunshine from the 3D collection. I hate and like the game. It controls like ass, Mario just wants to slide all over any touch sends him flying in a direction. There are some annoying ass gameplay quirks, this one with a watermelon you have to guide is just horrible. But hey it's still a Mario game, so still great, just the worst of the 3D Mario's.
Really hoping that we finally see what Blupoint have been working on but I’m not sure if it’ll be at Sony’s State of Play tomorrow.
I have little faith in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Will check out whatever they show tomorrow but am expecting to be disappointed.
Am hoping that MGS 3 Remake is good but am nervous about it.
So Sony is reaffirming their stance that their big story driven games will come out to PC at a later date, online games will be both ps and PC releases. Helldivers 2 is the fastest selling game in PS history, it's already outsold SM2 in only 3 months. So many are saying Sony should put everything on PC day one to which I say sure if you want to kill your console. Now PS is the primary console for those console only gamers, so it won't crash as Xbox did but their sales would take a hit if they no longer have any exclusives. What they got going now seems to be working.
What do you mean?
I mean I don't want to have to have reams of old equipment, giant power bricks, wired controllers, shelves of endless dvd sized boxes. Hdmi adapters and scalers, old AA battery powered controllers, sensor bars etc.
I want a switch like device but for old content like a Dreamcast handheld, with as little size and space as possible, meaning small game carts or digital storage. No fuss, no wasted space, no labyrinth of wires.
I want game hardware makers to actually care about making their old games accessible, in the long term. Not sporadic backwards compatibility on their modern machine that will rarely be used.and may be discontinued on their newer system.
What does Naughty Dog have cooking up? I don't believe I've heard from them in a while.
Rumor has it, they are finally making Way of the Warrior 2.
This is why so many third party retro portables and emulators exist. Game companies won't do it so hobbyists will.
Exactly. Yes, it's not as legitimate as it could be...or at all. But the Anbernic systems, the Miyoo Minis, etc offer portable systems that are more comfortable to play than the switch and provide solid ways to play pretty much every system up through the Dreamcast. And there are higher end ones that are doing GameCube, PS2, and even Wii and 3DS emulation pretty well.

I started Lucasart's The Dig tonight. I never played this one before. It's pulled me right in to the story.
Astro Bot!!!!!!!! That's looking like a GOTY worthy game. It's like Galaxy, so much shown in that trailer, I can't wait!!!
SH2 wasn't terrible! Success!!! lol it had a good showing, hoping it's a good game.
Those fake Chinese souls games were super impressive. The graphics and art style in these games is amazing, FROM needs to step up. But let's see how they are when they actually come out.
Concord I don't get why, that overwatch audience is tough to crack. The game looks like a million bucks but I can see it fail very quickly.
I realize the switch2 is less than a year away, but as someone who always plays in handheld mode, that's just too far off.
I keep trying to justify buying a Steam Deck OLED for myself. I don't need one but I'd really like to play around with it. And playing the PC version of Civ 6 at work would be nice.
Kind of disappointing State of Play yesterday. Monster Hunter Wilds looks awesome and Astro Bot looked really good though.
I'm going to be focusing my attention on old 90s PC games for a while. It's refreshing to play games outside my norm. I'm at work now and I honestly can't wait to get home and play more of The Dig. That rarely happens to me anymore.
