Joe, pretty much the only thing I've done today is sit on the couch and play Hearthstone. Except for the time I went back to bed and played Hearthstone there. Actually I did mow the lawn, but I made my son do the first half of it, so I guess I wasn't completely unproductive today.
Go Cocks!
I spent my weekend playing Tears of the Kingdom and the PHENO-MEN-AL Unicorn Overlord! I can't recommend it enough if you're a fan of (real time) Strategy or Vanillaware games!
I heard someone mention that Unicorn Overload is their GOTY so far.
I do love Vanillaware, but RTS.... seems out of my lane. I'll watch some videos to see if I could handle it.

You can pause the battles at any time to give orders and then resume. There's still some urgency to it, but it's manageable and you can also equip your individual units. The game does a great job of introducing things to you slowly and reinforcing things well through quests.
Who is Joe?
I think for the mainstream game players that is true, but for us enthusiasts there still an abundance of games that are genuinely new and exciting, and I'm not just talking the indy scene. Look at games like Pentiment, Balantro, Unicorn Overlord coming from the big publishers.
Probably not, but I played Quarry on PS4 and it was WAY WORSE than Until Danw, comically so. I am hpoing that is because they did not spend much time optimizing what was a PS5-first game.
I played it a while back. Good game, cheap too. Needs a map though.
Great Post Vader, I dunno what's happening. I feel old, when I see my nephew's with barely any interest in games or only obsessed with one game.
Don't you want to try something new? How can you eat the same meal every flipping day. It's depressing.
I have hundreds of Switch games on my dashboard but the nephew only wants to shoot Zombies.
So I played around 60% of Mudrunner.
And I've come to love it. Never in my life did I think I'd like a game like this.
It's about picking up and delivering logs to lumbermills in remote places. But it's so much more dramatic than that.
At times its quite serene and beautiful, you're in pretty remote locations. Everything is physically rendered, rocks shift under your feet, branches bend and break, mud reforms under your tires.
Then you have epic moments where you're tying two trucks together with loads, winching foelr dear life across an epic river, when suddenly one truck will get stuck.
Then you have to use your wits to detach trailers, winch onto different things. Even leave and come back with another truck to desperately try and save your cargo.
If you succeed it's incredibly satisfying, if you fail, you still return with a grin š as you can think of a different thing to try next time.
It's odd in the sense that it's quite zen but also quite epic.
I got stuck in a bog that looked like an open field, until my wheels sunk, I diverted to a rocky valley, it was okay before but now towing logs my tyres spun on the rocks and it was impossible to ascend.
I quit, tried again and took this perilous trip through deep water lakes between trees. It took literal hours, each map can take 6 hours to beat. It's so epic when things go wrong.
You realise you missed the turn, you're too far forward, your trailer is stuck on a tree, you can't t reverse. You have to detach carriers, use winches to pull your carriages, careful not to tip them over. Sometimes very carefully reattaching carriages to different trucks. You have to fuel up, return, winch your other trucks away from danger.
It's so much fun. A real slow burn though, buy so worth it. If you're not happy, slowly crawling through a muddy bog at 5mph, stay away.
BTW a new Endless Ocean Luminous trailer dropped over the weekend. It looks glorious:

Looks great, GG
Eh. It's not doing much for me. I can see my kids enjoying it, but I feel no urge to dive back in.
Anyone looking forward to the new Hellblade game? I really enjoyed the first one. By lack of 'current gen' consoles or a good PC I can't play the new game, but whenever I end up owning hardware that can pull it off, it'll be one of the first games I'll play.
BAFTA polls most iconic videogame character of all time predictaly the list is pretty crap
Lara Croft takes first place, followed by Mario and... Agent 47
There are also 2 characters in the top 20 from Baldur's Gate 3 and 2 from Uncharted.
At least Pacman and Pikachu make the top 20.
It's a crap list.
Yeah Iām looking forward to it. Ended up enjoying the first game more then I thought I would.
