I started playing Silent Hill: The Short Message (PS5) this afternoon. This game is creepy AF! Psychological horror freaks me out.
Also, I like that these games are bringing back FMV sequences in addition to the in-game cutscenes. RE3 Remake's opening had some FMV too. Really brings me back to the 90s except with far better picture quality. More please.
I played a bit of Bioshock Infinite this weekend. Not as much as I'd like but I believe I'm near the end.
Been playing Persona 3 Reload this weekend. They did a really good job with this remake. Haven’t played P3 since P3FES on the PS2.
That works for me.
I'm calling it. One will be a VR light gun style shooter. One will be a mobile spinoff. That leaves RE9, one remake and ... Let's go with a collaboration with Niantic in which you have to walk around detaining virus outbreaks.
I stumbled across this while reading the comments section at EG this weekend: the Sinden Lightgun. It's a light gun developed to work with non-CRT monitors for PC. It's compatible with all lightgun games of yore that required a CRT to work.
Pretty cool. It's PC only, so you'll need to rely on ROM's of all those lightgun games you legally own. Wish they'd make a version that can connect to the actual original hardware.
I played Jack Shit this week. It did not require too much of my time or attention.
Did you guys see the news last night? Seems that Microsoft is sort of going 3rd party. Internet discourse doesn't matter. They will be shifting more and more exclusives to other platforms going forward.

I saw that. Software sales must have been in the shitter and I suspect were that way last gen as well for MS.
How was it?
If your main competitor has an install base 3 times as large as you, that $69 billion acquisition might persuade you to rethink your strategy. If MS is just saying: whatever Activision-Blizzard IP's were multi-plat before, we'll keep multi-plat then that's just good business sense. If they're considering all their IP, then clearly MS has decided to just go third party and focus on having GamePass become the Netflix of gaming. I could see them still offering an Xbox streaming box. They would have no use for a fullblown home console. It's not that they rely on the hardware to spy on us, they already have Windows for that.
I'm all for more games coming to PS5.
It'll be interesting to see how the industry changes if MS does go third party. I can see MS releasing their games exclusively on Xbox/PC for a year or two and then releasing them on PS and Nintendo. Games cost so much to make these days, there can't really be true console exclusives anymore (unless you're Nintendo). I'm still kinda surprised to see PS exclusives on PC.
You're such a cow.
I think that Nintendo only manages it because they're typically a gen behind in terms of technology. Not only is dev cost ever rising due to higher fidelity, but being able to work with fully matured engines and pipelines probably helps them enormously to work as efficient as possible.
Moo
Great, the lemmings, cows, and sheep have returned.
The current Rumour is that Indiana Jones will launch on ps5 only 4 months after Xbox.
Last week the news said shops in the UK were stopping selling Xbox games, because no one was buying them. Digital sales were the norm.
Not many Nintendo games fall into that AAA production value bracket.
You get stuff like Mario vs Donkey Kong, Warioware and shit. Even Mario Wonder, awesome game but it's not some AAA open world behemoth.
Yeah, but even for stuff like Mario Oddissey and BotW development cost will be much lower than for any of the AAA counterparts on Sony or MS's machines. And they sell millions regardless. Must be very frustrating for those other devs as well. Can you imagine spending a full day working an a high-detail nostril, only to see a Nintendo game in which the main character model has less polygons than that nostril you made, outsell yours?
I wonder how well Nintendo will do when their own march towards better technology will increase their dev cost and they hit their inevitable next WiiU sized dud.
I dunno, the wait for Tears of the Kingdom was Abominable.
Nintendo would probably go for stylised graphics for stylistic reasons, which would also keep costs down.
Compatibility will be key for Switch 2. Needs as many ports from already established games as possible. The switch hardly has any big AAA gamed, it thrived on first party + indie games for years.
I'm okay with that, as the sale on the eshop are consistently insane and there are so many games to get through. It would be nice to have some more cinematic type games once in a while though.
