I never gave Maniac Mansion much if a chance back in the day. Maybe one day soon.

I very briefly tried Maniac Mansion quite a long time ago. I think it was on the NES. Probably rented it and got stuck. LOL

The NES version looks quite good. I remember originally seeing that one on GamePro TV in the early 90s. I wonder how slow it is to play with a D-pad, though.

My high school friend had NES Shadowgate, which played pretty well with the gamepad, IIRC. I need to track down a copy of that game too.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about that one. And Uninvited too. I don't know much about either of those but I know they were popular.

Deja Vu actually had a sequel. It never made it's way to the NES, but GBC got both of them in one collection. They were both original MacVenture games so I'm sure their availabile on GOG one way or another.

From what I've read it was also just very badly organized, with information being handed out worryingly late and incomplete, throwing up a lot of hurdles for those that did plan to be present on the show floor.

I don't think it will be missed per se, but I'm still sad to see it go.

I still think there was a real benefit with having a week of solid game news across the boards. To me that was the biggest benefit of e3. The whole industry had a spotlight on it, and it was always easy to get swept up in it.

When everyone has their own shows, it's harder to put aside the time to see what's going on, and easier to miss announcements. Especially for the smaller and mid-tier developers.

But alas it is gone. I know there's a few other shows out there doing similar things, but I am old and can't remember what they're called.

Seeing E3 get canceled makes me sad. It’s like gamer Christmas.

The last time I was really hyped for E3 was during the Wii era. That was a fun time.

The entire motion control era was peak E3. Microsoft making everyone wear panchos was awesome, although quickly topped by Itagaki's "fuck this shit" reaction.

Itagaki still making games?  I haven't heard anything about him since his Wii U game like 10 years ago.

Edit: According to Wikipedia: "He announced in July 2022 that his company [Apex Games] is working on a new NFT game called Warrior."

Yeah for sure. Also gotta love that dude who did the whole Kinect thing up on stage. “You ever want to see the bottom on an Avatar’s shoe? Bam! There you go.” LOL
