Okay after playing around on different games, the difference between a dpad and the big standard joycon buttons is night and day.
In form Factor it's pretty much exactly the same. The camera and - button are rubber, the R button has a bit more resistance to it.
Once you get used to its light weight it does the job perfectly.
MERCS for instance let's you snap instantly from firing in one direction to the opposite. Compared to there being a slight delay using the left analog stick.
I actually managed to play and beat some characters on Super Street Fighter 2 turbo. Even did most of the special moves fine, though the dragon punch is still a bit iffy.
Already it makes me consider getting more old Capcom arcade games and even the Genesis Collection.
The Hori joycon is only about 20 dollars.
I got the old Mario design, there's not much choice. Its Mario, Zelda or Pokemon themed.
One weird thing is there are limited continues on the arcade contra. Even if you feed in 30 Bucks in credits, once you use all your lives its back to the beginning.
That's not entirely uncommon. A lot of arcade games gave you limited continues. I guess the thinking was if someone put in enough money they could beat it and then they wouldn't come back, where is if they had to keep playing and get good they'd spend more money in the long run.
The Rygar arcade game was particularly sadistic in this way. You had unlimited continues until the final two levels. After that if you ran out of lives that was it. You had to start over from the beginning.

Feels weird to me. I thought these machines wanted you to pay to play. I've gotten used to unlimited continues in Capcom games.
So I'm having some problems playing this version of Super Streetfighter 2.
I think it's called the Challenge edition or something.
The OG Super Street Fighter 2 was my arcade favourite. I assumed this edition would have speed options and maybe different coloured costumes etc.
But I'm not a fan of the turbo which seems to be enabled at level 1,2 or 3.
I'd just like the speed to be the same as the OG one. When booting the game via Capcom arcade stadium you initially have the option of choosing slow, medium fast etc.
Problem is when you choose a slower mode the audio is slurred and slower.
I think with the new Hori joycon the difficultly is about manageable. But ideally I'd prefer to slow the game without ganking the audio.
My mom and I have been at the ER for 7 hours now. Doctor told us she has two large blood clots in her lungs, likely caused by a surgery she had a month ago.

Thinking of you. My Dad had an operation botched that resulted in the worst outcome so I can relate with some of the things that must be going through your mind right now.
Hang in there, man. I had one in my lungs a few years back and spent the night in the hospital. Fortunately there are medications that take of clots fairly easily.
Question to our PS5 owners. Are any of you planning to throw down for the psvr2?
I'm definitely considering it. I need to know more about the games first, especially if Gran Turismo 7 is fully playable in VR or if it's just a limited mode like Sport.

Best wishes to you and your mom Raven.
Thanks, guys. My mom is doing better today than yesterday. She has a long ways to go, though. I've never seen her so ill.
Although I'm still enjoying The Book of unwritten tales 2, I can't imagine how people would complete this without referring to a guide at some point.
It takes the Grim Fandango approach, with zero help, hints, gentle guiding, suggestions. Literally nothing.
I've had areas where I've pushed deep into, exasperated trying to use every item, flipping levers etc. Only to read online that I had to randomly fly to a different area, to randomly use this item with this one specific character.
With some gentle suggestions or an in built hint system this game would be a lot easier to consume.
It also just keeps the camera way too far away from the action. Instead of a nice clear close up of certain parts, you often get a view of the back of a characters head, which is about 1.5Cm high on a 65" HDTV.
If the camera was closer the characters emotions and facial expressions would have brought the game to life.
And closer views of certain areas would allow you to actually take in the important things you need to consider in certain parts.
Like zooming in on a bar to see nuts, menus and hats. Or on a desk to see the drawers and files etc.
Got this game by Gameloft called Modern Combat Blackout. I saw a video review that said it looked generally nice, it had motion controls and the single player had plenty of content.
Though the game overall got 44% because of the terrible online multiplayer.
Anyway it was about £2, so around two dollars. And after two levels, I'm pretty happy with it.
For a port of a 2014 mobile game it looks a lot better than I imagined and the motion controls are actually accurate.
It plays no better or worse than most Cods I've played in the past.

Now I actually have to git gud?! 😣

That's awful, Raven. I'm glad to hear there's improvement; hopefully that continues.
We're hitting the age when we start losing people. I can't imagine how you're feeling right now.
I had a mini breakdown when my mom went for an operation.
I bought it as I wanted the design, which seems so far to have been discontinued. The seller had several to sell, boxless. I guess now I know why.
