This weekend consisted of me playing some Mass Effect Trilogy Legendary Edition, High on Life, and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Also checked out Chained Echoes which is on Game Pass. The game looks very good. It’s an RPG that’s reminiscent of the 16/32 bit era. Supposedly it’s got inspiration from Chrono Trigger which really piqued my interest.
Meta's VR consulting CTO, John Carmack, is leaving the company "We constantly self-sabotage and squander effort."
Was equal parts hilarious and flabberghatsing that the article's title forgot to mention this was about John Carmack. I wonder if it was an oversight or if the reporter, who I would presume is of a certain, younger, age, simply didn't know who he was.
This weekend was all Red Dead Redemption 2 for me. I'm probably about 70 hours into it and can see myself sinking another twenty before I finish.
Still need to continue with the Book of unwritten tales 2.
Spending ages procrastinating on my future switch sales pickup this winter.
I was really enjoying The Book of unwritten tales 2, then I hit this section where you play as a blob creature who speaks random gibberish.
So you click on objects and rather than getting your character giving you useful feedback, you get random gibberish bloopy noise.
It's horrible. So I used a guide to get through it. Now the game is making me control two different characters in different screens to work the environment or puzzles, one of which is the gibberish monster.
Cant wait to finish this section and get back to normalcy.
They don't show up on the switch eshop unless you search or filter for dlc.
Best way is to just search for "Capcom Arcade". I would wishlist the ones you like as they do go on sale, but like I said they won't show up on the current offers page. So your wishlist will.
I'm thinking of buying the invincibility dlc 😐 just to get through Strider.
Yeah I saw that. I already have all the stuff for the first Arcade Collection. Would rather just buy everything for the 2nd as a bundle so just kind of waiting for that to go on sale.
What's good to get?
There’s some I’ve never played but some favourites of mine are:
Fighting games:
Honestly it’s best just to get the whole bundle because most of those games are quite good. Xbox’s new weekly sales went up today and I see the bundle up on sale for 25% off so perhaps it’ll go up on the Switch when their new week of sales goes up.
Yeah, I saw that yesterday. Pretty funny stuff. At least they’re putting in a longer USB cable. Small favours I guess.
I find I play less old school 2d games because there's no Dpad.
Thanks, I got a few of them on the Capcom beat em up bundle. Not really interested in 1v1 fighters any more.
Anyway I was about to get the Borderlands Legendary collection when it said it requires a 50gb download? The base game seems to be about 21gb.
So is it saying its going to take up 70gb approx??
I had a new DS at the time, I loved all of the touch sceen stuff. Looking back it could be fluff but man it was pretty cool at the time. Anyway that's my favorite of the portable games.
It's crazy to me as well. Add that to the pile of "I'm getting old and don't understand these youngins!"
GG hoping all is well with your dad.
WW was an unfinished game, you are correct about the missing dungeons and the padding. A damn shame the remaster didn't add things but it's Nintendo, shouldn't expect any effort from them. That's so close to the end though, maybe takes an hour and then you are off to the final dungeon which is great. Amazing final boss too. But WW is for sure held back because it was unfinished.
So I've finished Sonic, I'll do a review soon but basically I think it's middle of the pack 3D sonic. I much prefer the classic style levels to random open world shenanigans. That seems like a sentence I've been saying a lot with many games lately. So as usual many people love the new direction, they just want to run around casually and enjoy, I will hand it to Sega, they made it feel great to control sonic in this world. But oh man are there some half baked ideas.
God of War review is going up. As usual very long and deep. Basically a better overall game than the last one but so similar to it that it doesn't have the same impact. They didn't really change the combat enough to make it feel like a better tier action game.
Replaying Bayo 3 on climax mode, so damn good. Normally it would have been an easy choice to say Bayo 3 is better than GoW but man Bayo has presentation issues, I can't see shit a lot of the time. It's so messy.
Camera flying everywhere, too many on screen effects, enemies that you can't make out at a glance. And your character doing backflips and ping ponging off the walls at weird angled.
I think I'm not going to buy another Platinum games title, if it has combat. It doesn't gel with me.
I bought the Borderlands Legendary collection, it's £8 in the sale and has all three games plus 100 hours extra content.
It's 50gb 😅
So I've pretty much almost filled 730gb of sd card space. The OLED has 50gb on board I haven't used and I have one last 256gb card spare which I never thought I'd have to use.
Also bought Yooka Laylee and the impossible lair.
