I'm also playing the English fan translation of Valkyria Chronicles 3. The translation itself is okay, but I can't help feel that it's still incomplete. All the games dialogue seems to be translated, but there's still some side things like newspaper articles that were left untouched. It's those little things like that that always made the game feel special because you got a wider view of the war within the game. But hey, at the end of the day this is somebody volunteering their own service so who am I to complain right?
The game itself seems pretty good, though I'm only in the early stages of it. Just chapter 2. But they've already built a lot of intrigue so i already have high hopes.
I'm about fifty hours into Red Dead Redemption 2 and still not halfway done with the main story. I love exploring as much as possible in this game.
So I'm going to miss my hospital appointment today.
And my father has his second cancer surgery on Thursday, hoping the snow goes by then. But the whole week is said to be freezing.
Yeah, I found the pattern quickly enough, but I have to admit I've had some trouble with the Run control though. That made it a lot harder for me to dodge than it probably should have been. Anyway, I will pick it up one of these days. Not to go completely hobo gamer here, but even at 50% off 15 bucks seemed a little more than I want to pay for it.
And I hope the weather starts cooperating for you and the family soon enough.
I had to flick between the analog and the joycon directional buttons.
Found the buttons were best. It's supposedly quite a long brawler compared to others.
I'm with you on the price. Although I feel its worthy of its 50% off few, I judge the value of most games on the £5.99 you can get some of the good 360 ports for. Bioshock Infinite etc
Partly why I haven't got Eastward yet. I'm picking up £0.89 games in the sale. So even £13.50 seems expensive. 😣
Sorry, GG. I hope everything turns out for the better soon. Did the snow cripple the subway system that much?
Yeah it suspended various parts of different lines. So there was no service to get to hospital.
Looks beautiful though, like a Christmas Card.
I bought The Takeover, this Streets of Rage like beat em up. Seems pretty good, looks way better than the footage I've seen and the combat is pretty snappy.
Also bought The Suicide of Rachel Foster, a first person, adventure game/walking sim.
Haven't played it but it looks like a walking sim where you explore your families derelict hotel to uncover a crime of the past.
I hear it has multiple endings and there is one devisive one which led people to change how they felt about the game as a whole.
Hope it's better than Gone Home.
Both games are on sale, £1.69 for Suicide, £2.60 for Takeover.
I spent the weekend playing some No Man Sky, wondering why we still bother to do so. The whole game is one big fetch quest. We've been playing for about 20 hours I'd guess and we've still accomplished nothing. the UI is also atrocious, clearly not geared to controller play. You're constantly juggling your small inventory, wondering what resource you're most unlikely to need to construct whatever it might be you need next. I can imagine this evolving later in the game, hopefully with some kind of automatisation for gathering the base resources, but as it stands it's a pian in the ass, being terminally short on resources.
Also played some more Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope. The game is enjoyable, but still far inferior to the original. Hard mode is also very much not hard at all.
Hell, building or making my own content doesn't interest me.
Sliding stuff around in Animal Crossing is as far as I'll go.
It's a graphic adventure game by King arts who made the excellent The Raven Remastered.
It's like a fantasy Mel Brooks movie, so many pop culture jokes that had me laughing out loud.
In the magical academy for instance they have a draw of students Files from A-Z.
Each entry has a joke attached to it. One of the students is called Beaverous DeepWood.
It uses pre-rendered 3d backgrounds, they still hold up yet still looks dated. Pretty much any static 3D graphic adventure looks dated outside of Silence.
There are so many hot spots but it's hard to make out the objects in 3d. Thankfully there's a hot spots highlight button and it's easy to select them.
Great game so far.
Anyone still reading? Give the gift of The DarkSide Detective to yourself this Christmas.
Been playing The Takeover.
It's a modern Streets of Rage in looks but rigidly Final Fight in its gameplay style.
Looks ultra modern, captures the spirit of arcade goodness. Very snappy and responsive controls. You also have a sidearm to use.
Pretty straight forward, but fun to play in quick blasts and a winner in multiplayer.
Came across this amazing and hilarious section in the Book of unwritten tales 2.
The game has prerendered 3d backgrounds. But I went back in time and the game was 16bit pixel art. I went further back and it was 8bit with no speech and chip tunes.
Then I went further back in time and the game became a text adventure with a black screen.
Laughed a lot at this.
It's resolution is a bit soft but not too much and gives it a filmic look. The actual quality of the rendering is very good.
Too blurry in handheld mode though. Game seems more interesting so far than Gone Home or Layers of Fear.
Also getting into Golf club wasteland. Played casually it's fun, very easy to play yet not easy in terms of difficulty.
It's just chilled out golf in a beautiful wasteland. There's this radio that plays in the background that has either music; or people recounting what their lives were like before the earth died. Some is very interesting and evocative. Some is dreadfully dull, such as a woman describing in detail how she used to love techno music clubbing.
Games only £0.89
Solid buy for the price.
Wind Waker is 20 years old? Damn. Happy 20th Anniversary WW. I played some of it on the GameCube and bought the Wii U version but have never finished it. I really should do that some day.
There's a new game called Lil Gator Game which takes inspiration from Zelda, WW predominantly.
Gamex plain loved it.
My dad's in hospital waiting for surgery.
Hope all goes well GG.
For shame, Archie. For shame. Even I finished Wind Waker and I have the worst Zelda completion track record at Thevgpress!
Hoping everything goes well also.
I hope all goes well too, GG.
