I'm about an hour in to the latest GU Podcast and want to chime in on vegan food and how vegan people are ethically superior to the unwashed mobs of meat eaters. And I probably made this point a couple of times before.
Vegan people are often the most sanctimonious hypocrits I know. Most of those I know started no more than a couple of years ago, and all of a sudden they have to loudly advocate from some imagined moral high ground how great it is to be vegan, and how everyone should follow their great example. They're obnoxious. On one hand they look down on people who are ruining the world by eating meat, but on the other they don't see any issue in wearing leather, driving cars that are larger and more poluting than any car in a urban area should ever be, and citytrip to everywhere by plane.
I know this doesn't apply to all vegan people, but the more recent converts often fall in the aforementionned group. But they are also often millenials, I can't scientifically prove it is their sudden switch of diet that is making them obnoxious, or if they were simply born that way.
That Skyrim fox anecdote is great. Skyrim users reporting stories of foxes leading them to treasures turns out to be a side effect of how the basic AI was programmed. Cool read.
I've never really seen it as vegans who are obnoxious per se, rather the people who are newly vegan. Or for that matter people who are new to any dramatic lifestyle change.
You can go down a list of lifestyles and there's no shortage of obnoxious people who feel they are superior because they "found the way." Vegans, born again christians, sobriety, swingers, CrossFit, etc. There's just something about making a dramatic change in your lifestyle that goes hand in hand with the need to tell everyone about it and tell everyone why they're wrong for not following your example. The good news is most people after a couple years either mellow out or drop it all together and it ends.
The Quake remaster is excellent! I just played through three levels of EP1 with Y-axis motion controls on max sensitivity (X-axis disabled); it controls beautifully! Feels like 1996 again.

I agree with all that. I've been a vegan for... 23 years a vegetarian for longer.
Sup, I think they were born that way. It's the same thing as the Prius and Private Jet crowd. (those which drive prius's to the airport to get on their private jet).
After about 20 minutes of trying to get various composite consoles to work this afternoon I recalled that I now have run them through an HDMI convertor I hooked up months ago. I wrote a note to myself (as any old person would) and put it in front of the A/V switch that selects composite consoles that said, "Remember, Composite is now HDMI SOURCE 1, flip switch near RETRON 77).
Ten minutes later, perplexed as to why I am not getting any signal out of my PS1 I work studiously checking cables and find that the composite cable is unplugged from the back of the TV (if you want to see a photo of it from a few months ago click here). "WTF? How did that happen?" Plug it back in, go back to the A/V switch and see my own note.
So much to play on gamepass!!!! I beat cryber shadow, I'll post the review.
I started Recompile which is a 3D Metroid like game inside a computer program, not sure how good it is but it's unique.
I played 12 minutes yesterday, got to A ending, I believe there are others. It's the game where you are in a time loop as a man breaks into your home and murders you and your wife for something. Your job is to figure out the mystery and stay alive. It gets NUTS, by the end my jaw was in the floor, wtf are they doing. Gameplay is super simple and it's kind of janky. There is so much repetition just to change one variable to see if that does anything, so it can be tedious but I was compelled. I still have more things to try and it's hovering around a 7, though I think it might go down if the other endings arent really ambitious.
I never played Quake so I am excited to try that. Psychonauts 2 is next week! And I bought the Doom Eternal expansions. So I am loaded.
Road 96 demo is out. Tried it. Will definitely be buying this at some point. Its like if Firewatch was done properly, it would look and play more like this.
Jesus, started The Dark Eye Memoria. I loved The Dark Eye Chains of Satinav, this one though has a horrible start. It begins trapped in a tomb with a horrendously complicated multiroom puzzle. Also the game puts up multiple white hot-spot indicators on the screen. It breaks the immersion and there's no way to turn if off. This puzzle though, is the kind of end game one that happens once per graphic adventure. This one right at the start is like the game started on maximum difficulty.
I was enjoying Burnout Paradise lately but there's no split screen so I was looking into other driving games for the nephew's. I downloaded Asphalt 9,which is free to play. Jesus this games graphics are a lot better than Burnout Paradise remastered. It might also be the best looking switch game. Love the fantasy track settings like the Himalayas. It's an arcade style racer with huge jumps, boosts and even car spins to knockout opposing drivers. Handling is okay at the moment, I only have the stock 1 car. Some races are 30 seconds to 1 minute though 🙃
Anyone know if Gear Club Unlimited 1 is any good and if it has splitscreen? It's like £2.58 in the sale. The nephew's kept crashing every 5 seconds on FAST racing.
PUBIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: For anyone who liked a little, old game called Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, the game Fuga: Melodies of Steel is supposed to be very similar! 😎

You might be right. I guess I'm just surrounded by a steady stream of new converts.
Or new converts to gaming.
But we're gamers, so that's fine!

You know when you are getting old when...

Truly the best deal in gaming. Well, second to Cyberpunk selling for $10.
I downloaded those games, Vader.
I also downloed those games, including Wall St Kid.
