Beat the final monster in the multiplayer mode for Monster Hunter Rise today. Pretty cool fight. Time to finish the single player quest mode now. I’m currently at rank 4 in that mode and there’s a rank 7 cap right now so I have a fair amount of questing to do there still. Also need to do some more farming for mats to get more gear.

how the hell do you power through these games so damn fast? A monster hunter game takes me forever to get to even the mid point ending.

I let better players then me carry my ass. Nyaa

In all seriousness though it took me about 50 hours so I was putting in some serious time each day. Also it does feel a bit easier then Monster Hunter World vanilla. The wire bug does give the player some pretty good advantages. In all my games I think I only ended up failing about 5 quests. The vast majority of people I played with were Japanese so I’m sure that helped. LOL

Saw some pc videos for some Syberia 2 puzzles and saw them clicking the mechanical puzzles with ease. On TV you have to scroll through the buttons going from left to right and it's maddening. So I played in touchscreen mode last night and it fixed a lot of the problems I was having with the game. The game has you holding down the stick and a run button to move through fairly huge environments. On touchscreen two taps and she ran by herself. On touchscreen interaction points and direction markers were gracefully placed on screen so you never miss something because it blends into the background. And the puzzles with multiple machine buttons are so much better with the touchscreen. The unintended effect of playing on the switch screen was the game looked much better on the small screen vs stretched out on a 4ktv. Colours popped more, renders were more rounded. One day I might play this again in touchscreen mode from the beginning to see if I misjudged this game. For now I'm going to try to play more off the TV screen.

Syberia 2 made something of a comeback when you meet the Youkal. I think you need a touch screen or gyro to play the game without being pissed off. Far too big, too much running and stick controls for complex mechanical puzzles sucks. Also does Hanz come off a touch ungrateful to anyone else? So, good adventure game overall if played with touch. Worth it for the ridiculously low price, but it can be an annoying pain in the ass at times. Now onto Silence, Deponia, Thimble weed Park, Lost Horizon 2, Edith Finch, Gibbous, Leisure Suit Larry. Or maybe complete the True Fear demos first?

Started Lost Horizon 2 and its a proper sequel. What I mean by that it's like the jump between sequels, proper effort has gone into the game that transforms it into something better yet different. You don't need to have played the first, but I would as its great fun and super cheap. This one has pre-rendered backgrounds and camera moves that bring the whole game to life. I'm a 2D fan but I can't deny that what's been done here looks excellent. The game has a gritty tone, the very first scene was about a father hiding his daughters while the Nazi came into his building to take him away. The story picks up with an older Fenton, sadly with a different voice actor. Gone is the wise cracking OG character, now Fenton is more like Sam Fisher. In fact the first mission I'm on is virtually a Splinter Cell mission with a graphic adventure interface. The game has sadly ditched the more user friendly features from the first game. No longer can you hover items over other items or environments to see green lights or red lights. The item page is now a thin bar at the top of the screen, difficult to easily select items. In dual stick mode, the cursor speed is set to max and you can't change it. So when you need to move it a tiny bit to select an item it will often jump across to the adjacent item. On the whole so far, it feels like a different game with the same main character - and that's not a bad thing, but I think I will always prefer a beautiful artwork 2D with a wise cracking character. This is like proper grown up, moody, big production value version. It's still good though, just different.

Just listened to the latest GUPodcast.  There was a worrying lack of trailing off topic at the end of the show.  On the other hand, perhaps this found its origin in the actual lack of on topic talk during the show?

It was actually because he'd left newly-delivered furniture on the verandah and it started to rain, so he had to go and bring it in.

I solo'd a furious rajang yesterday.  Once you know how to fight him he's not all that hard.  It just took some time to sink in how that was as he's the only monster so far where the best tactic isn't to stay close and pummel him all the time.

Pac-man 99 could be fun.  The whole thing's worth it just to hear the trailers opening line 'compete against the pack'  LOL

I'm sure I will love it. Looks like a combination of OG Pac-Man along with Pac-Man DX, wrapped with some standard Battle Royale rules.

Yeah I saw that Pac-Man 99 trailer last night. Pretty cool looking. Will definitely be playing some of that. Probably won’t do as well with that as I did in Super Mario Bros. 35 but will likely be better at it then Tetris 99.

I finished downloading it a little while ago and the game is active, unfortunately my son is doing Just dance for a while, so I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow to play.

Finished Lost Horizon 2. Well worth it for its ridiculously low sale price. But mildly disappointed overall. No humour whatsoever, they ditched what made the first game fun. And they butchered the main character who is now a boring dad. You spend half the game playing as his 13 year old daughter or random German woman. The ending was good though it felt shorter than the first game.

Started Thimbleweed Park and so far it's awesome. Completely on point with the old Lucasarts games I used to love. Funny, weird, slightly insane. Looks awesome too, screens don't do it justice. You play as Mulder and Scully essentially. It has the old style verb system but thanks to some well worked Controls shortcuts it's not hard or cumbersome to use.

I went ahead and played a couple rounds of Pac-Man 99 this morning. It's okay, but it definitely hasn't grabbed me like Tetris 99 or Mario 35. That makes me a little sad too. My opinion may change more as I play, as I learned the nuances, but I don't think the way all the players tie into one another really works. I don't feel that whenever I lose it's due to me playing poorly, but more so that there's just too much on the screen and very difficult to keep track of. You have to watch Pac-Man and the ghost monsters obviously, but then there's the shadow ghosts and Shadow Pac-Men that pop up in hordes and clog the screen until it's really hard to figure out what's going on.
