Also Sunshine lacks the long jump
I personally don't remember having any issues with Sunshine, or how Mario behaves in the game, other than that some levels clearly lacked the polish we have come to expect from a 1st party tentpole Nintendo release.
The issue I had with it at the time was merely the lack of visibility (being able to see around the level when up high) which has been fixed by the change in aspect ratio. I felt nauseous sometimes because I was whipping around the camera so much, or missing jumps because of the camera.
Even though I had an N64 I never actually had a copy of Mario 64 until I bought it from the Wii virtual console.
But I went into 3D Mario expecting it to be exactly like the 2D games so I was disappointed in it at first.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Doom
Wolfenstein
Quake
Elderscrolls
The Evil Within
Dishonored
Rage
Prey
And the upcoming new IP's:
Ghostwire: Tokyo
Deathloop
Edit* Microsoft owns Obsidian and they now also own Fallout. We can get a proper Fallout game from Obsidian again.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Exclusive or not, the upcoming games will now be part of GamePass, or $70 a pop on PS5.
It's a huge acquisition. This isn't some small niche publisher, these are big AAA IP's.
Well holy shit.
That's kind of what I'm thinking too. Most of these games will not be locked exclusives. MS has had way too much success publishing their games on Nintendo and Sony consoles. If anything, this just makes me think we are looking at the last generation of Xbox consoles.
That said, I wouldn't be shocked if one or two of the really big titles ends up as an exclusive. Whatever the Skyrim sequel ends up being, I bet you won't see that on a PlayStation.
Big news. Depending on what they release within the next couple of years, I may be an X-box gamer again.
My conclusion : Sunshine is the Demon Souls of the Mario series.
I have to admit I'm leaning more towards an Xbox than a PS5 right now, and I honestly never thought I'd say that. outside of the evil within games, I'm not really even a giant fan of most of those Bethesda properties, but it does show that MS is really doubling down on making Game Pass a robust service.
I've experimented with PlayStation Now a couple times over the past year, and the available library is not in the same ballpark. It's basically the oldest Sony exclusives, three or four big name games from the past two years, and then a bunch of indie crap.
I still don't plan on getting anything new for a while, but the conversation in my head is now between a Switch and an X series.
I still would to pick up a cheap Xbone first. I want to play the Gears games again.
I did that Rico Harbor one the other day with my children, niece and nephews jeering me the whole time. A pain in the ass.
Quit whining about the game being difficult. Just admit you've grown old and now suck at more gamez than you did 10 years ago.
