Pirate it.
That Nintendo mini direct was insulting. At least MS is going to give us some amazing stuff tomorrow. Woo!
Oh I still need to do that ghost of Tsushima thread. first impression was a little rough mainly cause I came from playing TLOU2 and this is noticeably not as impressive. Animation and models are more like the average AC game and the performance is struggling on my base PS4.
That said the design and look of the world might be the most beautiful open world I have ever seen. The colors, the lighting, the wind and particles flying around, it’s all stunning.
The gameplay feels like a mix of Batman and old school AC, it’s very much about quickly pressing the right block, dodge or attack at the right time. As time has gone on I have gained plenty of new moves and gadgets where now it feels like Batman with multiple ways to engage crowds. The stealth is basic AC level stuff, nothing new happening there. There are cool standoffs which are just a timing mini game but it works for the whole samurai theme that they nailed. The Kurosawa filter is stunning.
I have been living exploring the world. Animals guide you to hidden shrines. Finding random villages have people sharing rumors with you which leads you to some good side quests. There are bases to clear, again just like AC but as a samurai. So many upgrades to find, customizable stuff and random junk to collect. I can see the open world fatigue get me in time but for now I am engaged and find exploring a joy.
the story and quests have been good too, some Witcher level involved side quests (no choices though).
I'm tempted to buy it, but Paper Mario first.
I guess you have to give S-E some credit here. This is the third time they're going to release the game and charge full price for it in three years.
Pretty smart move. Having an awesome time with the game right now myself.
Just finished watching the Xbox Showcase and thought they put on an excellent show with a lot of good stuff that I’m looking forward to playing. My favourites from the show were:
I’m definitely going to be double dipping and get the Xbox version of Dragon Quest XI: S Definitive Edition. I think it’s awesome to see this franchise finally make its way to the Xbox platform.
If they offer some kind of discount on the PS4 for owners of the original version I'll grab that, otherwise I'm just going to wait for a deep discount. I love the game, but it's so damn long already, I don't need to be in a hurry to play it anytime soon.
Also Phantasy Star 2: New Genesis looks fantastic. It’s getting released simultaneously worldwide next year.
You don’t want ze puff, puff?
Everwild...Rare looks like they're in good form there.
I'm not sure if I'm old and my vision is going, or if these guys are just peddling shit, but I can't really tell the difference between the two Ori games.
The Medium looks like it's going to be right at my alley.
Anyway, over a decent show. Sony's was probably a bit better, but there was still a lot of good stuff here.
That MS show, yikes. CG trailer after CG trailer. Almost no gameplay of anything. A bunch of games I played already with new updates. Just a poor showing. Halo does look cool, graphics clearly held back by current consoles but I like that it looks like classic Halo. Medium looks interesting. Rare game looks like a 4 player coop thing. New Obsidian RPG is hopefully good. Psychonauts 2 looks so damn great. PSO2 expansion!! WOW!
But honestly the best thing of the entire event was BALAN WONDERWORLD!!!!!! Yuji Naka!!!!!! Sonic Team reborn with another name! What a crazy awesome game they showed.
I'm liking all the Windows 10 and games pass logos on the Xbox trailers!
I'm looking forward to Psychonauts 2 never coming out, and Stalker 2 getting cancelled again...
R.I.P. Regis Philbin. 😢
