Game Under Podcast Episode 116
We (mostly) take a break from games to discuss Bioshock and Ayn Rand's writings.gameunder.net editorial impressions aspro
So no one plans to buy Astral Chain? I'm wondering if I should avoid it given that I don't like bayonetta.
I'm holding off on that one until it's cheaper & I have time for it. I've only been buying games that I really want to play immediately, for a while now.
So many games to play. I got LM3 which I played for like an hour and it is beautiful and so damn interactive. Seems a lot like LM2 which I loved. But I stopped played Outer Worlds for it, this is a by the book fallout clone, I am actually not enjoying it that much. It's super easy. It has small worlds, not one big open world to explore so it's actually kind of linear. Lots of talking with characters that are not that interesting. I stopped played Shenmue 2 to play that. I am in so many games I lose track. Then I will stop playing LM3 to play DS and stop DS to play Jedi and then have Pokemon and Shenmue 3 somewhere there. Make it stop!
The death stranding reviews have been the most interesting reviews I have ever read. I watched multiple hour long videos, read many long reviews and every one seems to have such a hard time describing their thoughts on it. Giant Bomb mostly hates it, Alex says he enjoyed it but cannot recommend it to anyone yet everyone should play it. Jeff and Dan loathe it. Brad has no fucking clue if he likes it. Alex almost went into a fit over how terrible the story was. Others say the story makes them cry.
The best review is Tim from Kotaku and his hour long video review, it's majestic, hilarious, and a must see. The best video review I have ever watched.
I am more intrigued than ever. But I think I won't like it, gameplay is clearly repetitive.

I think it's like arthouse cinema. Confuscating, hard to parse, at times a slog, but also unique and interesting.
Maybe it's even kind of like art. Art doesn't always have to entertain, sometimes it can just be repulsive and thought provoking.
If my gut feeling about the game is right, I can see how many people feel like it's something you have to experience, while at the same time they can not recommend it because it's just not much fun.

I'll be getting LM3 later on, despite looking forward to it immensely, only to prevent above situation from happening.
Death Stranding is going to be highly divisive. No real surprise there. I think the real interesting thing is going to be figuring out the people who genuinely enjoy it versus the ones who love Kojima, think he can do no wrong, and insist they're enjoying it while secretly hating every second of it.
Anyway, not my kind of game. And it furthers my belief that Konami was in the right.
I'm getting hints here of No Mans Sky videos from Death Stranding. I think I'd rather rent it and get a feel for if I like it or not. I am playing Luigi's Mansion 3 and lovingly. Everything GG said about it is correct. I'll add that I love exploring every nook and cranny. I like Gooigi but I can tell it's going to be a pain in the ass to control two characters unless I get my son to play co-op.

its not bad. You're never in danger when operating both and gooigi is essentially invincible. I just finished the garden floor. Looks so good. Omg guys you get a circular saw you can hoover up and wreck a room piece by piece. Everything breaks realistically. Wish it was in the whole game. Cutting up a four poster bed feels so good.

In the right? I could buy that if they actually killed it this gen after ditching Kojima & just released great game after great game. But it seems to me it wasn't so much about Kojima as it was about them backing out of game development.
Death Stranding looks ... poor.
Think so? I'm intrigued.

Me too. I don't expect MGS quality, but even ZoE quality with a much more interesting story than ZoE would be great.

I’m going to be picking it up later today myself.

GG, with all of your back problems, of course you would get joy from destroying a bed.
