I'm most of the way through my second play-through of Sky. The ending was brutal.

A new Hearthstone deck came out last week so that's what I've spent most of my time with. Balanced it out with a little MHW too.

Also, I finally watched Detective Pikachu.

This game! The story is better than any Mario game! It’s an epic quest to gather power stones to save the world from an evil demon racquet hell bent on enslaving the world into evil tennis players!!!! It’s incredible!!! Boss battles, puzzles, crazy variety in matches, this is everything I want from a Mario kart campaign but MK continues to be basic garbage.

I enjoyed it and I think anyone who had more than a passing interest in Pokemon at some time will too. As far as plot and acting it's on par with most kids movies. But for the most part the Pokemon look great and it's fun watching them interact with people and each other.

Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu makes the movie though. It's PG Deadpool in that regard. So it's worth a one-time watch.

High school seniors choose a Mewtwo quote to paint on the school walls

medium_KOdmefpaEHxI4AA4ZuureNxWGlkKxli6-_dbZOUwnmc.jpg

Lots of schools have inspirational quotes painted on their walls. Some come from athletes, others come from celebrities, and then there's the quote above, which comes from Mewtwo in the first Pokemon movie. Yes, it might make a few people chuckle to see a Mewtwo quote at first, but it's a damn fine statement, and certainly one we would all do well to live by.

I saw it. I ignored it.  It's just a patent.  Could very well mean nothing.  Besides, clamp on controllers are nothing new, and they're universally horrible.  I'm not counting the Switch Joycon as they were created specifically for one device by a company with a lot of credibility in the field of creating controllers.  And even they botched it with the joysticks.

Digital Foundry said in their tests that you can get 65% higher CPU clocks with Switch. Which would improve framerates in most games.

Downside is heat and battery life.

With the context of that result being applicable to DQBuilders 2, where some user generated content runs as low as 7fps, which rose to 12fps with the CPU unlocked.

I read the article and came away under the impression that Nintendo probably made a good call. Very few of the tested games were mindblowingly improved.

Yeah I saw those clamp on controllers a few days ago. Like Supreme said it’s a just a patent right now and clamp on controllers aren’t anything new. Also I’m not at all interested in playing my games from a streaming service so all that this gets from me is a big old, “Meh”.

they said it improved the framer ate in most games. Or prevented more frequent drops in more intensive games.

Sounds like Sega did a really good job with the Genesis Mini. I’d like to get one myself but there’s so much coming in September that I’d like to get. Will probably get it later on.

I set up the XboneX yesterday. All went very smooth. If you set both Xbone's to detect hardware in a home network it'll automatically copy all your settings and downloads, which is ace as I thought I'd need to redownload everything which would have exceeded my Internet cap.

First impressions: the X doesn't LOOK like a premium product. The matte black plastic looks much cheaper than the combination of materials seen in the S and the same goes for the boring black controller. The desicn is also mucl less appealing. Also, all the vents are on the sides, which isn't ideal for how I have everything set up currently.
Now all I need still is a 4k HDR enabled telly.

I had it 'gifted' to me for my birthday yesterday by my parents.

Copying everything is taking ages though. It's copying at 50mb/sec and has only completed roughly 35% since yesterday evening.

Back on the topic of gifting, I always have to come up with ample options for my own presents, to prevent people from asking tips from the wife. Notable gifts I received based on her practical tipping over the last few years include a cooking pot and a garden hose. Hrm

Practical gifts run completely contrary to my philosophy on the subject. I buy myself the things I need, but rarely fun stuff that I want. That's what people are supposed to buy me dammit! Yes, socks and steak knives are lovely, but can't someone just please give me the Legend of Zelda NES cartridge blanket that's on my Amazon list????

Oh and happy birthday to SupremeAC and all the other August birthdays we have.
