Square-Enix had a really good conference.
Ubisoft just revealed Gods & Monsters, and upcoming action-adventure game hitting Switch on Feb. 25th, 2020. Check out some new details below that were not covered in the initial press release.
- customize your character
- gameplay involves jumping, swinging a sword, shooting a bow and arrow, floating from high perches using a bird power, use some sort of telekinetic ability to toss trees at enemies
- uses a stamina meter
- presented as a tale told by the poet Homer to his grandchildren
- equip special ability-enhancing gear
Some noticed that the game, both in visuals and gameplay, seems to borrow a lot from the Legend of Zelda franchise. Here's what Ubisoft's Jonathan Dumont had to say when Kotaku brought up that point in an interview.
“It’s flattering that we can be compared to that, but from a storytelling point of view it’s going to be a very unique adventure. The abilities will change, as well as the scope of how it blows up. It is influenced a lot more by Odyssey in that sense mechanically. The fact that we can choose and create our own character and customize it as well, there’s quite a bit that will make it its own.”

Jazzed about Mana Collection.
Not so sure about Contra: Rogue Corps,
...but jazzed about the Collection.
Panzer Dragoon?! Yes please!! 😮
Yeah I feel the same way. It’s still cool to get a collection like that but it could have been a bit better. Trials looks great.
I’m kind of iffy on the Contra Rogue Corps game as well because we are talking about Konami here. Some parts of the game did look kind of cool. I’ll see more of this game first though.
Didn't realise Trials of Mana was such a big deal. It's built from the ground up, remake of Secret of Mana 3
I just did the Xbone membership switcharoo and now have over 2 years of Game Pass Ultimate!

Fuck Nintendo showed off A LOT of stuff.
Firstly, that new Zelda looks like it's going to be darker a la Majora's Mask a la traditional 2nd wave Zelda. I like. Also, the GB remake looks really cool.
Secondly, what is up with the 10 second Panzer Dragoon clip and then no info?! Is that a new game? A remaake? AN RPG?
Third, I actually liked the Contra game. Looks possibly cool.
Forth, seeing Banjo in Smash was great. Like old pals reunited....Donkey Kong all happy being like "Hey it's my old pal Banjo who let me borrow his game engine in DK64!" really nice.
Fifth....ASTRAL CHAIN.
Also,
Alien Isolation is one of the best horror games of the generation. I've said it since 2014.
NOTHING ON METROID.....Christ Nintendo, really? At least port the Trilogy like people have been begging for. This is criminal to not have Metroid on Switch in some form at this point....following a no show on Wii U as well.
Um....yeah.
Alien Isolation is great. It nails the feel of the original movie. The only issue is it’s a little too long.
That's cool that they're getting Witcher 3 as well. Even if it's barebones stripped down old school Steelattack PC Edition, it's still Witcher.
I'm still perplexed by Battletoads.
As I said yesterday I've never been a huge fan. But IMO if you're going to bring something back from the 16 bit era as a publisher with billions of dollars, you should do something more with it than what looks like an indie game made by 5 people. I mean go all out & make a giant production that's actually going to WOW people.
To me this almost felt like when EA made a big deal about bringing Command & Conquer back...and it turns out to be a mobile game.
Damn it, Zelda BOTW2 seems like it’s just going to use the same overworld, what lazy shit is that.
