I liked Lords of Shadow. Still haven't played more than the opening of the 2nd one. Seems like they tried to add some Batman elements to it.
I called them and they said they wont do it unless it was ordered by a consultant or GP.
So onto the Splatoon 2 Splatfest this past weekend. As ever there was a really awesome custom stage made just for that splatfest.
It was pretty crazy, there were several containment areas with timers so when a third of the match was over, this huge dome lowered over sections of the map so you could no longer ink it. Still have a real problem with these custom stages though. If they had just let us play these new stages anytime in the normal rotation then we could have many more new maps by now.
As it is, you are sort of cold dumped into these new stages with no knowledge or pratice as to the layout or not. And a lot of the special splatfest stages are too big, which means you get the dual squelchers cheaters out who can see and hit you from miles away and then just constantly tentamissile you to death.
So there are 80 new single player missions in Splatoon 2 expansion. So together with the single player content already there there should be about 14-20 hours of singleplayer stuff in the game now.
Valve...let's face it the reason they haven't made Half Life 3 is because they've had too much success with Steam to care. If there was no Steam, I guarantee we would have had HL3 fucking years ago. AND HL2 Episode 3.
It's too bad because HL as a series would still be very unique considering the lack of story driven, cinematic FPS titles over the past decade. Even if it wasn't much of a jump from the old games. Or, they could turn it into an online co-op fragfest like most of the shooters in modern times and throw uniqueness out the window.
Nioh is really damn good. I knew it would be from all the praise Leo and Vader gave it, but playing it has really opened my eyes. It's very similar to Dark Souls/ Bloodborne, but has much more of a Japanese vibe instead of the gothic western vibe that the Souls games have. Gameplay systems and level designs are tight as a virgin clamshell. Must play more.
I also finally made it a bit farther in Mario Odyssey. I keep forgetting I have a Switch.
I just got past the cool part in the city level with the band and all that shit. It's a typically solid Mario 3D platformer, but so far I think I liked 3D World a little more. Some nice use of the subtle vibration effects in the controller in this game.
There are cheaters in Splatoon? How? I didn't think Switch was cracked already. Why don't they patch it to get rid of exploits?
What does that raise the price of the game to though? Is the expansion about 50% of the price of the game?

Edit* in the US Splatoon 2 is $60 new.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Oh yes, there are many cheaters. Basically anyone with a playstyle GG doesn't agree with.
Basically there are levels where MATHS = YOU LOSE i.e long range machine guns will always beat shorter range ones.
So for instance if you end up on a large stage without much/any cover, someone with a long range machine gun (without any slow movement speed cost like the 92 gal) can spot you miles away and you can never get close to them before they hit you. And because the stage is large they can just roam about constantly shooting without much skill involved and just spam you with cheap AF tentamissles.
If you get two or more of these assholes on one team it can be insufferable - 3 tentamissles per minute or more. I had a match where 10 where fired against us in a 3 minute match.
It doesn't always happen but on some of the special one time splatfest stages it's just annoying or boring. When I got tired of it on saturday I just did the same thing and beat their asses down, then turned if off out of disgust. One thing about Splatoon 2 I don't like is that the balance of weapons is hard favouring machine guns only which is boring. You can't make as big of an impact as you could in Splatoon 1 using unique weapons.
I kind of disagree. On the right stage (eg. ones with a lot of cover and different levels) sloshers can be absolutly annoying. But yeah, the balance doesn't seem to be as great as it was in the original. I don't mind the range of the dual squelchers per se. What I do mind is that they'll also often win out against other guns at close range.
Sounds a little bit like Mario Kart DS online with the advent of the dreaded "snaking". Basically a certain strategy puts players at such a big advantage that unless you do it as well it means you have very little chance of winning against them. Yeah ... not fun.

I don't think it's that bad. First of all, snaking wasn't a valid tactic, it just kinda was in the game as a glitch. You also need to take DramaGeek's Splatoon rants with a grain of salt. I personally don't mind tentamissiles. I've only ever played one match where I considered them to be disruptive. As for Dual Squelchers, yeah, on the right stage they're at an advantage when it comes to getting kills. But the same can be said of sloshers or snipers, or basically any weapon type that isn't a roller. Are dual squelchers overpowered? Maybe, but the same argument could be made for dualies and sloshers. And then we're just talking about weapon types, not even individual weapons.
Sucks, but at least you tried.
Yeah it's one of the current freebies. It also tells you who's strong against whom for the powers, so that could either be a plus or a minus depending on your preference.
