On Switch games flow, so in addition to Nintendo having more staff compared to the U generation, Reggie says that Takahashi is in a building in Japan with a bunch of dev studios and that he has the power to push forward other projects if one project is stalling. Hence, continous flow of games. If we take what he said a while back, he said something like they have visibility in their pipeline of games all planned out through into mid 2019.

So far this year, it's been pretty good, if they actually release everything as planned. Let's see if they can keep it up.

Oh yeah, Arms arrived

You can see (some of) it already with Switches lineup from launch till end of year.

Add what is already out to the rest of the year. I can't think of any other year where their 1st party releases have been this strong. There's a few decent 3rd party games thrown in too. That list doesn't include indies.

Okay let me explain the greatness of Kirby for a moment. First of all, the traditional games have created a long running and consistantly good series of platformers. Not all of the games have been great, but there's never been a bad Kirby game and there have definitely been some outstanding ones. The recent Planet Robobot was great, and I'll argue tooth-and-nail that the Great Cave Offensive in Kirby All-Stars is one of the most brilliant platforming experiences gaming has ever seen.

Second, Nintendo very often uses the series for experimenting in both art styles and gameplay. Canvas Curse was one of the best uses of the DS' touchscreen. Rainbow Curse and Epic Yarn had some of the most innovative art styles gaming has seen period. And hell, even Dream Course put a cool spin on a traditional golf game.

And lastly..... these games are almost always million sellers. That's more than you can say for the last few Metroids and F-Zero games.

So in conclusion, suck it haters.

2002 was their best year ever. Nothing else even comes close other than maybe 2007. But see when they do that, they follow up with a few really dry years where there's almost nothing because they blew their entire load in one shot.

Yes sir, Windwaker, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, some Resident Evil games.  It was a very good year.

Microsoft continues to invest in first-party games but Phil Spencer didn’t want to show trailers for games 3 years out

4 years into the Xbone era and your 1st-party stuff next wave is 3 years out? That's a problem.

Both WW and Sunshine are seen as lesser entries in their respective series. Even when I was playing WWHD it still reminded me that it's the worst 3D Zelda.

I've been playing Arms. Mostly tooling around in training I could spend a week there just seeing what all the characters can do. Then I played all the other modes. Cool shit. At first I was using the button controls and not feeling it. Then I switched to motion and holy hell that's fun. It feels like Capcom at its best - like an old Capcom arcade game, the sound effects, character voices and visuals. And there's so much depth to the battles Im still wrapping my head around it. Had me grinning like a kid when I won. So addictive too.

Yes sir, Windwaker, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, some Resident Evil games.  It was a very good year.

Both WW and Sunshine are seen as lesser entries in their respective series. Even when I was playing WWHD it still reminded me that it's the worst 3D Zelda.

Yes, but considering what Nintendo put out in one year it's still incredible.

I remember that period very well. They were hurting by the long dev cycles of the n64 and rushed out WW and Mario Sunshine and both games felt lacking and had criticism for unnecessary padding. Because of said criticism Nintendo reversed that policy and went back to delaying games till they were ready. That period doesn't really compare well with BOTW, Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Arms, Xeno 2 etc.

"Seamus Blackley, Ed Fries, Kevin Bachus and the rest of the original Xbox launch team understood something crucial all the way back in the late nineties when they were preparing to enter Microsoft into the console business; software sells hardware"

And that's why I don't have a Xbox One because there's not much software to appeal to me.
