So Nintendo is focusing on softcore porn for its Switch advertising? Maybe it will actually succeed.
Nintendo confirms cancellation of Project Giant Robot polygon.com
Cancellation? I figured ARMS was project Giant Robot.
I'm happy to report that the place I pre-ordered my Switch from has dropped the price by €30 to a more reasonable €299. I'm not sure that the price is in line with what I feel it should be, but at least it's easier to digest.
compared to other Nintendo home console launches:
GCN : €199 (Nintendo dropped the price by €50 prior to the European launch)
Wii : €250
WiiU : €350
So Miyamoto is saying it takes one year to port from PC to Switch (kinda long?)
Switch was only shown to developers at E3 last year and presumably they didn't start making games from day one. So people are expecting more 3rd party games to be announced at E3 but newer software will arrive late 2017 even early 2018.
I read an interview with Sumo Digital, in which they stated that they'll be launching their download only original IP Snake Pass (looks like a cool concept for a game too, btw) alongside the Xbone and PS4 versions. Release is pegged down as 'shortly' and Sumo say they've only got their hands on Switch dev kits a month ago and that they had their game up and running in a week, thanks to UE4 support. So that's what, less than 2 months to port the game?
Who at Nintendo marketing is hiring Flash/Arrow lookalikes for their commercials?
First we had Arrow and Kid Flash playing Mario Kart. Now we have Black/White Canary playing 1,2 Switch
Supposedly it uses the full fat UE4 engine, so they can just use the default Switch settings for the engine and they should be good to go I guess? Pachter said that developers were telling him that Nintendo were the easiest of the big three to develop for.
So yeah, chepaer than Wii U. Once you take into account inflation and fucking Brexit, the price is pretty decent. It's actually cheaper for you Euros guys, 50 euros cheaper than Wii U - than for us. Wii U was £300 here and Switch is £280
So did you guys see the inside of the Switch dock? When you put the unit into the dock a little usb C metal bit pokes up into the Switches butthole.
No one worried about having a physical connection like this? A friend of mine has one of these tablets with a keyboard dock and after a couple of years its become a pain in the ass to dock it. He has to undock and redock it multiple times. I'm getting images of flipping NES carts and blowing on the ends of them here.
Also when the joycons are connected to the tablet, do they work wirelessly or is there some physical connection that transmitts your button inputs because if it is physical you may have some problems. I have a motionplus that can be finnicky because of docking/undocking.
It's only cheaper by €20. I just happen to have pre-ordered at a sane retailer. I checked the other places, still €329. WiiU also came with a pack-in game.
I assumed it'd transmit wirelessly to the dock, kind of how the Gamepad works. On the other hand, Nintendo are pretty good with charging docks, so I trust them with it. Only downside to this is that it'll require some force to dock/undock. The dock better be heavy enough that you don't lift it up everytime you try to undock.
As for the Joycons, the keep working wirelessly, there's no moving parts to be seen. I also believe that the player indication lights on the grips and such are just bits of fibre-optics. The Joycons emit the light, the grip or whatever just catches the light and bends it to where it needs to be showing. A pretty elegant solution to the problem in my opinion.
If you guys haven't seen this yet, watch it now:

It's a satirical 'promotional' video wherein the netherland suck up to Trump.
It's so great in fact, that nearly every nation in Europe has made one of their own. Just skip to about 0:30.
The dock has a little USB C connector like on a phone charging cable. I worry over time the connector on either the dock on the receiver on the switch base will get worn down.
It's just the way of life GG.
At first, when you plug it in, it just fits so tight and you think it's a match made in heaven. It's just a magical experience, to be able to plug it in and out all over and over, how natural it feels. But then, after a few years, you'll find the dock becomes a bit wobbly, as if it's all just a big stretched out, as if it's started to sag. It's then you have to take a step back and consider. Should you keep the dock? It's still perfectly functional. It can still enamour you when you plug your Switch in, despite it's age... Or should you ditch the dock and just go out for a new one, a tighter one, without all the wear and tear of years of play?
It's a decision every Switch gamer will need to take at some point in his life. Most will say that first dock will stay with them forever. Some acknowledge right from the start that things might not work out that way. Be prepared GG.
I will never pull my Switch out. Once it's in, it's in for life.
Played some Fire Emblem Heroes last night, about 3 hours worth, and it's a pretty good game. It's definitely smaller in scope then the typical Fire Emblem games, small screen size maps and only 4 vs 4 battles, but it does a good job keeping that Fire Emblem feeling and story telling. It's free to play but I never really felt a strong need to spend money. I played through about 5 chapters in the story mode, played about 8 arena battles, and several mission maps.
Stupid mobile exclusives crap, what is Nintendo thinking.
I have this on my iPad plus I think that it's also available on android devices.
