I don't see carts coming back.  Unless as a form of external harddrive for the digital only future, kind of like how memory cards used to be, the difference being that they would store a couple of games at a time.

I would bet they aren't carts but large capacity memory cards that can be plugged into the console NX and the portable NX.

Yeah this is what I actually meant. I shouldn't have said cartridges because I actually meant those memory cards, like the ones they currently use in the 3DS.

Using the high capacity memory cards for its games would make the NX console cheaper to manufacture, make reading the data off it much faster, make the system less prone to heat issues, less prone to wear and tear, and give the system more stability. The memory size between them and optical formats isn't really an issue anymore like it was in the past. While it may be more pricey then discs I'm sure Nintendo could get some kind of deal from some company to mass produce them to help offset cost. In my opinion the benefits for going with the high capacity memory cards far outweigh the negatives these days.

Well, some asian manufacturer of ROM, I forgot the name, has indicated that they expect a large surge in revenue due to something Nintendo related.  One could assume that will have to do with the launch of new, cartridge based, hardware.

Also I don't think anyone will view it as a step back tech wise from discs, in fact it may be the opposite. People use high capacity data cards in most all their high tech devices these days. Discs seem bulky and less portable in comparison. In some ways these cards are also more durable because discs can get scratched up pretty easily.

I don't know...  I just don't see stamp-sized data cards working for consoles.  Unless they'd make it that you can plug in like 10 at the same time.  THAT would be an awesome feature to have.

I think the days of people finding discs and cool and futuristic are long done. Trying to use some kind of cart back in the PS2 days would have been insane, even if the tech was there to do it. But today its no big deal because everyone is used to using sd cards and thumb drives anyway.

BioShock: The Collection Pictures Surface Online

BioShock will always be one of those series that I desperately want to like, but just can't quite force myself. I've played about 8 hours of the first and Infinite, and it just never grabbed me to the point where I want to keep playing. I want to say I'll give it another shot with the remastered collection comes out.... but I know I won't.

I heard rumours that if enough people buy the Bioshock remastered collection then Nintendo will make a StarTropics 3. I'm not sure what the correlation is between the different games and different developers is but it does sound plausible.

This was mentioned on Matt Casamassina's twitter page.

|[eurogamer.net]| Splatoon's final Splatfest asks the ultimate question

Callie or Marie? threesome sadly not an option.

____________________________

Call me a little dense... or maybe I just never paid much attention to Splatoon before. I assume Callie and Marie are the two main characters? Has everyone already noticed this other than me?

Callie. Marie.

CallieMarie.

Calamari...?

They've been pretty upfront about how nearly all names are puns.  My personal favorite is the Booyah Base.  the armory store being called 'Ammo Knights' is a good one as well.

GG, have you ever played Minecraft?  It seems like something right up your alley.  There's a Wii U demo and I'm thinking of getting the full game, for my son, on the U.  Even though it's probably 5-10 dollars higher than other versions, off screen play is a huge draw for me.

Get it for whatever system you have that you play the least. Once a kid sinks his teeth into that game there is no no turning back. It's pretty much the reason I don't get to play much on my PC anymore.

Makes sense to me. Pardon me while I go pre order 10 copies. I know what everyone is getting for Christmas this year.
