Its because more people are going to PC gaming since they all share 90% of the same games now.
PS2 sold 155 million, Xbox 24 mil, Cube 21 mil....total 200 million.
Wii sold 100 mil (ugh) PS3 sold 86 mil, X360 sold 85 mil....that's a huge overall jump but then again, they also were on the market TWICE as long. Total 271 million.
Now 4 years into this generation, PS4 at 40 million, Xbone at 25 mil? and Wii U at 12 mil? Yeah they're all kind of low considering this is almost a full generation back in the PS2 era. But how long is this gen going to last? When are we getting next-gen consoles, and are we going to be forced into these dumb upgrade models? Hard to guage this generation. But even the PS4 I can't see outselling the PS1 even, nevermind the PS2.

They didn't change their plans, the internet just twisted their words. All Nintendo ever said was that Zelda would be the only playable game. If the whole of the internet choses to interpret that as 'we will only show one game', that's their problem, not Nintendo's. Nothing has changed at all.
Nintendo has plenty of bigger problems than twisted words.

This brings up a question, will Xbox Scorpio and PS4K be considered part of the current generation? And will we even have generations anymore with new business models?

I think they said Zelda would be the only (playable) Wii U game shown. The other games they are showing that were confirmed yesterday are mostly 3DS, I think Tokyo Mirage is the only other U game they have now confirmed - but that is for treehouse. So if its not playable, yeah - what they said is true. Only U game playable is Zelda.

I've been playing lots of DOOM 4 this weekend. Man is this game great, sooo much better than Doom 3 and easily one of my favorite FPS of this generation. Also started replaying Deus Ex Human Revolution in prep for Mankind Divided. This was one of my favorite games of LAST gen, and I've never played the Director's Cut until now so this is cool. This game still sucks me in to its world for hours on end.
I played a ton of Uncharted 4 multiplayer, The Nathan Drake Collection, and a teensy bit of Overwatch
