That statement was easy to make when they were competing against the NES for two years. Then when the Snes came out in 1991, SEGA was handed their ass.
Its funny because I loved the Genesis, had some great times with it....but looking back its only because the Snes released late. If they released at the same time Genesis would have ended up like the Master System. And looking back at the libraries, its amazing how much better the Snes's is.
WTF!! RE4 greatest action game ever made. Metroid Prime one of the greatest games ever made. Zelda WW, still an amazing game. Smash Melee considered by many to still be the best Smash.

Windwaker is good, but not that good. It is easily the weakest 3D Zelda game. I guess you can say Resident Evil 4 but it was ported less than a year later. I'll give you Metroid Prime and Super Smash Bros. Melee though.
Regardless the WIi U still has what many see as the strongest entries of Nintendo's classic series. The best Smash, the best Donkey Kong, the best Smash, the best Mario Kart. I would say "the best Marios" but the fanbase seems pretty split between the 3D ones since they are all so different. Most would say New Super Mario Bros. Wii U is the best modern interation at the least with many saying it is the best.
The Wii U's problem is besides those games, Bayonetta 2, the definitive version of Bayonetta 1, and Splatoon it is a barren wasteland.
To be fair though if you are going to play third party games, it is best to invest in a PC.
I thought Pikmin 3 sold well enough, given the sales of the system. Now that it's a value release for 20 bucks I'm sure it will push a couple hundred thousand more copies as well.

Best DK? Thats arguable, DKCR seems to be higher rated than TF. The Galaxy games are definetly better than any Mario on Wii U. Zelda TP better than no zelda. Metroid Prime 3 better than no Metroid. Wii U may have the best Kart thats it. Yay... Its by far the worst Nintendo console.

Lol review scores. It is debatable whether or not the Galaxy games are the best in the series, there seems to be no consensus to as of what the best Mario game is. We don't know what is going on with Zelda. Agree with Metroid.

Pikmin 3 didn't sell well did it? A damn shame...by far one of the best Wii U games. I still liked Pikmin 2 more though.
