While certainly it was a lot of money the Activision/King deal gives them instant leverage in the mobile market instead of having to start from the bottom and tens of millions of consumers to introduce their other IP's to. I kind of find it silly for the average person on the Internet to jump on these things thinking that they somehow know how multi-billion dollar companies should do business.
Instant leverage with ONE game that's just a ripoff of other games. Apparently this is worth more than most entire companies with decades worth of incredible, original franchises. And why is it silly to talk about? Just because they have billions of dollars and we don't? So we shouldn't question anything they do because they have money?
I also don't see how this is going to help them introduce other IP's to the mobile market. My friend's wife who plays Candy Crush on her phone isn't going to give two fucks about Activision or their IP, or even KNOW that they bought the game. Like Alpha says in the video, these people that play mobile games do not care who makes what, or who the team is behind their favorite game. Nor do they follow them to see what game they make next.
Meh. You can talk about it but I just find it silly that some people think they know how a multi-billion business should be run, not because of the amount of money they have but more so on the fact that they are were they are because they have much more qualified people making these kinds of decisions and these people typically aren't doing so based on emotional attachments that many of these gamers have.

Well that's true....they're business people making choices based on how they think they can make more money. But it doesn't always work & they're just people like you and I at the end of the day. No matter who they work for. I don't buy into the idea that many of these people are super-qualified and are so much smarter than anyone else just because of who they work for either. I've worked for billion dollar corporations before, as I'm sure some of you guys have. And many people at or close to the top are fucking douchebags who just kissed a lot of ass. So unless you actually know the people personally, its tough to say how qualified or not they are. All you can do is judge by their actions.

Come on man you make it sound like I'm saying they're super human or something, of course they're people like in the obvious sense of the word but people making these kinds of decisions for corporations like this educated in this field and live and breath this stuff. Simply working for a billion dollar company doesn't qualify one to make large scale decisions like these, not even close. Of course they are more qualified for this then the average internet user, this should be obvious. Anyway I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with discussing things like this but I'm talking about actual discussion which is few and far between the silly stuff for me is the knee-jerk reaction from most gamers. Stuff like, "Activision is stupid." "Nobody cares about mobile gaming." "Activision is going to go under." "Mobile gamers don't care about Call of Duty." Of course these decisions aren't always perfect and bear fruit but more often then not these are sound decisions that have been analyzed by a number of people before their execution. Many of these gamers judge these things from a self-cantered basis, if it doesn't benefit them then it sucks and is the wrong business decision.
Its kind of funny, when I got my PS3 I never imagined a scenario where I would fill up my 80GB hard-drive. Ahhh I was so young and naive... 80GB can't hold shit.
Wasteland 2 got me all hyped for a post-apocalyptic rpg, but then the bugs killed it for me. I'd love for Fallout to be not so buggy and give me hundreds of hours of gameplay in a world as dense and eventful as Skyrim...
...but that leaked review has me kinda worried though.

Probably just money laundering or a tax scam anyway.

So when is the embargo up to let us know when the embargo is up?
Only 4 more days until Fallout 4. Get HYPED!!!
Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer is sooooooooo good.
Thanks, John Ricciardi, now I'm feeling all nostalgic.
That Official Nintendo Players Guide was amazing.
His whole Twitter account is amazing!
I never owned a Sega console so my nostalgia for them is low. Still am amazed how everything looks like new.
Agreed.
I never had a Master System, CD, 32X, or Saturn.
I only had a Genesis/Mega Drive and Dreamcast. They were great systems but those gens I also had an SNES, PS2, and GCN.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
