Well, since I finished Alien Isolation, I'll finish up the DLC, Crew Expendable, and sell the game. Next up, will be Second and Left Behind, TLoU DLC.
Splatoon time!!!!
The server has reached its connection limit.
Splatoon demo is live for me now. I played a couple of rounds already. It's super chaotic but runs smoothly with 8 players

Yeah same for me. Wished I'd run into you guys
Leo!
I'm terrible at it. It's too stressful for me. I've never played an online shooter or any of this type of game before. And I keep trying to shoot the other guys instead of worrying about covering turf.

Just grab a roll and forget about it.
Looks like that's it. I played about 6-8 matches. All in the same warehouse arena. By the end of the hour most people were picking paint rolls as their weapong of choice (at least 3 in every team.)
The main problem I see is lack of communication. You need to be able to talk to your team mates to go from beyond boring running around like a headless chicken to developing any kind of team strategy the game calls for. That would be crucial and could make all the difference for this game the way I see it.

I decided to give Splatoon a whirl. I'm used to playing online shooters so for me this game seemed pretty easy going and somewhat relaxed. The biggest issue for me was the controls. I'm very accustomed to twin stick controls so the motion controls threw me off a bit plus the fact that the paint shoots in an arc. The game seems cute and there will be more modes of course but it really doesn't feel like it should be a full priced game which here means $69.99 plus 13% tax equals nearly $80.
Bugs, you only played in one area? I saw two different maps.
It was certainly fun, but a little too simplistic. Is Nintendo really going to wait that long to allow us to pair up with friends?
Bugs, I'm not sure voice chat would work with such a fast paced game. It would certainly be nice to talk to friends though.
Yeah I'm not too sure on what the longevity of this game will be like. I played several matches on 2 different maps. Cute mini-game that you can play before the matches start.
Well that was a lot of fun and I was hoping it would not in. Problem is it's too simple, only 2 maps available and it gets a bit repetitive. When the game hits they will have 4 hour rotations of only two maps, yikes. So rollers are insane, a team of mostly rollers dominated nearly every match, it's just so easy to cover all the ground, every time I was a roller I won the match.
Let me break this down:
Graphics - AMazing!!! One of the best looking wii u games, runs amazingly smooth, oh those colors
Online - perfectly smooth,, no lag, didn't crash, so far so good. Matches loaded up quick and there is a fun mini game to play in load screens so you are always doing something.
Controls - very responsive but can be a bit tough with gyro aiming. That is fine with the splatter gun but the sniper I ccouldnt hit shit. I had to turn of gyro and go with the sticks. Wiimote would Be best but nintendo is full of idiots, this would be the best wiimote game ever. Once you get a hang of it shooting and swimming around is really fun.
Gameplay - it's super fast and addictive. The point of this mode was to cover the most turf with paint, so killing others is not really the goal. The main problem is that matches are too short and there is no communication. If any team I was on played well together they wold dominated, instead everyone was doing their own thing. Plus when the teams finally felt like they got a strategy going the matc was over. Also not being able to change classes in the middle of a match is dumb, sometimes you need adjustments on the fly.
I saw tons of room for great stratgey and by the end of the hour I was seeing better play out of teams. Rollers were not dominating as much when everyone realized how easy it is to kil them from above. Still they are needed for their paint covering, it's insane how much ground they cover. The bombs and supers work really well, so does the need to fill up your ink by swimming.
Actual battles between players can be a blast as you can sink into the ground and pop up to shoot, exciting stuff. I found the sniper to be the hardest to use by far but I can see some use for it it high level play. Roller is super easy. I think the splatter gun is my sweet spot. I won about half my games, lost everyone where I was a sniper. Won all I was a roller and was first place almost every time as that.
Overall - I think I am sold. I am worried about the choices nintendo is making with the slow roll out. These maps will get old quick forcing us to play only two every 4 hours is stupid. Hiding modes and extra weapons is stupid. The way it is not it's fun but not sure it's sustainable for many many hours. We shall see, I'm trust in the gameplay which was a blast.
Traditional controls will be included in the final game.
Playing with friends could make all the difference for me.
I think talking could quickly establish some base strategy like for example ... one of you infiltrates and paint enemy territory, another couple attack directly etc and one stays back to defend base territory etc.
Yes Travo, every round I had was in that warehouse level

When I read all that stupid stuff about online, I can't help but think that Nintendo's online dept is still stuck in 2002. There's no excuse for holding back. If the game was not finish then wait until it is,
That was you that I played with, right?
I am sure there are a few Leo's out there. It was the mii name not the NID
When is the next online session?
