I watched a 30 minute Let's Play of Sonic Boom. Sega should be ashamed. Sonic's quality and gameplay should rival Nintendo's Super Mario games. Instead, it barely rivials the quality of free ipad games, but charges full price for them.

Who makes the Sonic games nowadays? Is it a different developer each time? Does Yuji Naka still work on it? Sonic Team?

They were on the right track in the Dreamcast days, but after that....garbage. But, you can say that for almost all their software.

Dimps made both Sonic Rush games on DS, and those were quite good. I believe Sonic Team makes most of the crappy Sonic games. Big Red Button made Sonic Boom, but the gameplay and quality look about on par with Sonic Team's latest attempts. I haven't played it, but Sonic Colors is supposed to be good; same with Sonic Generations. So, It is possible to make good Sonic games, but I think Sega gives them very little time and/or money to make them, so most come out as shit.

Yuji Naka quit Sega years ago, founded his own company Prope.

What's with the news feed?  I want to post a news item on GOG's autumn sale offering The Witcher 2 for free (Better Than paid-for-The Witcher 2!), but I keep getting this message from our upset mascot: "Duplicate story of Good Old Games Shuts Down"

http://www.gog.com was already used for a different news story.  You should link directly to the content and not to their home page. http://gog.com/game/the_witcher_2

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

Last night I learned my two professions. Being a hunter, I went for skinning and leathersmithing, I killed two foxes and got some ragged leather remains, maybe in time I'll be able to make some pantsu. I also learned how to pet battle. Holy shit this is like wow-pokemon. Unfortunately a Lv 21 bunny kicked the shit out of my puny Lv 1 pet. I have to find easier battles.

I think at Lv 15 I also unlocked instanced dungeons. A Steam friend joined me while I was assing about doing shitty quests. He had insane gear and an epic mount. He also was a Lv 90 hunter. When he showed up he said "I AM YOUR FUTURE". I couldn't help but giggle like a schoolgirl.

I think I'm slowly understanding what made this game so special to a lot of people.

Binding of Isaac rebirth is clearly better than the first. There are so many new new items and enemies, makes the game more fun to play.

Apparently, they have brought back Underoos and made them in adult size. Only question now is:

Do you HAVE THE POWER?

Overall:

Overall retail sales down less than 1% year over year.

Software down 28% year over year.

Hardware up 59% year over year

Notes:
--"The NPD Group also confirmed that the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U hardware made up 80 percent of the money spent on game-related products in October."

Software:

  1. NBA 2K15 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
  2. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS (3DS)
  3. The Evil Within (PS4, Xbox One, PS3, 360, PC)
  4. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (360, PS3, PC)
  5. Destiny (360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3)
  6. Skylanders: Trap Team (360, Wii, Wii U, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, 3DS, mobile)
  7. FIFA 15 (PS4, 360, PS3, Xbox One, Wii, PS Vita, 3DS)
  8. Madden NFL 15 (360, PS4, PS3, Xbox One)
  9. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS4, XBox One, PC)
  10. Minecraft (360, PS3, PS4)

Notes:
-The Evil Within: "The Evil Within was the highest-selling first month of sales for new survival horror IP"
-Sunset Overdrive: "Microsoft, meanwhile, probably isn’t sure what to think of Sunset Overdrive yet. The Xbox One exclusive open-world action game was on sale for four days in October, but it didn’t crack the top 10. It did come in at No. 9 if you count games by SKU (meaning only the PS4 version of NBA 2K15 and the Xbox One version of The Evil Within). And of course, none of these sales include the bundled version of Sunset Overdrive that comes with the white Xbox One."
-Smash did around 495K this month, as it is now over 1.2 million between digital and physical in the US
