I can definitely see something like that becoming a big part of our future households.  If you could hardwire something like that into your domotica the possibilities are endless.  All you need to do is give up any form of privacy.

Honnestly though, I think that this Echo thing has a better chance at finding (moderate) success than their smartphone ever had.  The smartphone relied to heavily on a gimmick that would go unused, while this could prove useful, depending on how well the software works.  The footage shows that it's just a dumb client linked to an Ipad though, so that doesn't bode well.

And it's something genuinely new.  Amazon lacks the 'prestige' of companies like Apple or Samsung though, so I wonder if Joe Average will give it a shot.  The footage shows that it's just a dumb client linked to an Ipad though, so that doesn't bode well.  It could fare well in offices though.  What's my agenda, print this, add this to his or her agenda, ...

I don't know, I can't shake the feeling that if this was white and branded Apple, the whole internet would be going banana's over this.

Smartphones seem to be pretty successful? Uneasy

Apple wouldn't have made a 21st century version of a '90s educational video, so yes the internet would have reacted much better if it was made by Apple.

All these little dumb gadgets everyone is making now just suck nuts. Build something that can take us to other solar systems. Something to free us rather than enslave us.

Nintendo and Amazon could team up to make this:

But nnnoooo...we get a fucking sleep clock and a weather announcer.

I was referring to Amazon's own smartphone that bombed recently.  The Amazon Kindle Fire Uberphone?  I don't know what it's called and don't care enough to look it up.

I guess I can sympathize with Vader being perplexed with Sheev. It's the same reaction I had when Nintendo made Ganon, GanonDORF...

Heh... DORF!

I would bet money they were going for Ganondolph, but something was changed in translation. Could also be they didn't want the english name to sound too "German" due to his extreme and aggressive nature and were avoiding a politically incorrect oversight on their own part.

Got out of that shitty hotel finally. Do come to Guilin to see the river Li, but stay in Yangshao, much more English friendly. Ah, what a fucking couple of days. GG, out.

Nintendo announced and showed Splatoon's SP mode, and Vader said he'll buy it. That's about it regarding the news this week, I believe.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. I'd mch rather Nintendo made a new Duck Hunt game instead of putting the dog in Smash.
