Anybody playing Alien Isolation?

I just started it tonight. I honestly love it so far. Its a horror game through and through...slow paced, atmospheric, and spooky. I guess it could be described as a mix of Zombi U, Dead Space, and the Silent Hills demo. We'll see how the rest is but so far its great.

No interest after I watched the IGN review in HD. Apparently it is great fo the first 6 hours and then it's all repetition. But it looks good visually and apparently is true to the movie.  I have the trilogy here I think (hope), I want to watch it. Will probably bargain bin the game... but 20+ hours for this kind of highly intense stealth games sounds like a bad grind.

How does GG buy every wii u game except the good platinum ones. Nyaa

The answer: I don't. There are plenty of U games I haven't bought like Hyrule Warriors, MH3, Darksiders 2, Arkham Origins or DK Tropical Freeze. Maybe when they hit £10. But Platinum games I boycott to mess with you. Nyaa

Also it's not hard to own every Wii U game, there aren't exactly many of them.... and I don't own any other current gen console.

? There seem to be limits on every demo I've tried. I think the maximum time is 30 tries?

The SSB demo on the 3DS seems to be without any limits whatsoever.  Which I like.  There's just enough there for me to not feel the need to run out and buy the full version.

LMAO!

So what exactly did the US reviewers not like? That its an actual horror game and not an action game? Are people in Europe more open minded about the fact that its actually GOOD when everything doesn't try to be Call of Duty?

Yeah we're more open minded to a bunch of stuff.  IFYAKNOWWADDAMEAN  WinkWink

Seriously though, I remember ZombiU scoring notacibly worse in the US than it did in Europe.

Tried the Bayonetta 2 demo.

It was allright. Now that I've tried it, it reminds me of when I played the W101 demo and Vader wondered how I could like that but not Bayonetta. I can understand what he meant now, it's very similar. Eerily similar actually, same scoring and QTE mixes with attacking and then timing the evade just right.

I'm not going to rubbish the demo, but I was slightly bemused by it all. One positive is that it felt like an old school arcade game and it looked very pretty and played decently. There's nothing I can really object to. I would prefer more precise controls using the d-pad instead of stick and the combos felt like a waste of time since you could smash any combination of punches and kicks and it would activate some sort of combo.

It seems like a game that could grown on me, but I definitely prefer the W101 demo, which felt more involving and I love the whole presentation and style of that game as well as it's gimmicks like drawing on the touch screen.

I don't know. I can only guess, like Zombi U, the North American reviewers don't really tolerate much repitition? Where as cynical Brits will appreciate something more novel and different, even if it's not polished or presented to within an inch of it's AAA budgeted life and even if it can be a bit repetitive?

CD Projekt Red has responded to allegations that the studio has imposed a year-long crunch on The Witcher 3

CD Projekt Red has responded to allegations that the studio has imposed a year-long crunch on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt development, and that its PR staff has created "an overblown vision of a game that doesn't exist."

An anonymous Neogaf user "vetted and cleared" by GameSpot claims CD Projekt Red has been falsely made out by fans "as some magical dev studio with only the best interests of the games in mind."

"Trust me they are not," the poster stated. "The bullsh*tting with The Witcher III started from day one. PR is creating an overblown vision of a game that doesn't exist while the team is in crazy crunch time for over a year now."

The studio's communications exec Michal Platkow-Gilewski issued a statement to GameSpot disputing the claims:

"In principle, we don't comment on rumours, especially when someone anonymous says that it's 'his/her word against CDP PR'."

"PR aside, if you have any doubts about Wild Hunt's quality, have a look at the 35-minute gameplay video we published some time ago, or check out gamers' reactions to our public previews at Gamescom, San Diego Comic Con and E3 – it's all public and available on the studio's YouTube channel – and decide for yourself."

Michael Ironside almost walked out on his Splinter Cell role

"I have to confess I'm not a gamer. And when they sent me the contract for the very first game, it was quite lucrative, and I said 'absolutely, I will do this.' I thought it was going to be like PONG, and I would just have to introduce it."

"When I got the script, it was very stiff, very inflexible, and very blood and violent. And I didn't want to do it. And told them I was going to give them back their money. They asked me what would it take to keep me on the project, and I said we would have to change the character, and give him some type of humanity. To their credit, they sat me down with the game creators, and we came up with the present Sam Fisher, who had an empathy and was not just a 2 dimensional killing machine. And we got as much humanity, I think that that format will allow."

He also espoused the virtues of being able to act alongside the game's other actors, rather than talking into the wall of some cold, sterile booth. He said he refused to do it any other way. "On the first two games, we brought the cast in, and we all did it together, so we had a sense of humanity," he said. "That was one of my stipulations."6

So then, why didn't he reprise his now-iconic role in Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the series' most recent entry? Because, as it turns out, real decades-old men aren't so great at the whole super spy gig:

"I think it's a great idea for Ubisoft. They've gone to motion capture, and this spring I will be 65 years old. I don't think anyone wants to pay money seeing a 65 year old Sam Fisher bounce around on set, killing and stumbling while he kills people. I wish them all the luck. I hope that franchise has a long and storied future."

So he actually changed the character of the game. Nice.

That is because you have been touched by the grace of Iga. Normal people that did not receive the download code could only play the demo a limited ammount of time!

Yeah I find this weird as well. It doesn't really matter to me though since if I like the game enough I'll buy the full version and if not then I'll not bother playing the demo anymore after that.

So Rogue Squadron Trilogy was cancelled TWICE. Once on Xbox 1, and again on Wii. That's pretty lame.

Granted, I'm not sure how well it would have sold anyway....basically a remastered compilation of flight sim games. I'm sure it would have looked beautiful for an Xbox/Wii game, but they would have been lucky to sell half a million. Interesting that they started a new studio though.
