Apparently I'm no longer a core gamer since I rarely play more than 15 hours a week now. So I'm a casual now? Guess I should go play some Flappy Birds on my phone.

CD's have a lifespan of around 20 years. They may not "rot" persay, but a lot of people are starting to notice that old PC ROM games are no longer working. Up next. . . Playstation games.

CDs only last 20 years? Bullshit. I've got CDs older than 20 years and they work perfectly. Obviously media is transient; it is foolish to believe any sort of media is permanent: including server (servers are physical things FYI) archiving of digital content which, especially for games, brings with it the huge headache of emulation, and incompatability with future OSs.
This is such bullshite. It was fine to whinge about Wii games not being 720P (or 600P or lower depending on the PS3/60 game), but suddenly gamers don't know what they're talking about, and it's all marketing hype when people are pissed off that games are 720P instead of 1080P? Apart from the stupid backlash to this, it's good that they're being consistent.
