I've played it exactly ONCE since getting it, then I moved on to CastleVania, Witch and the Hundred Knight and Deception without looking back yet. I don't feel compelled to play at all.
Incidentally, I've traded Witch and Deception in just a few minutes ago. Witch has a glitch in it that boots you back to the PS3 dashboard randomly and NIS has no clue what's causing it or how to fix it. You could play two hours and **BLINK!** back to dashboard, all progress lost! No time for that!
Deception is clever, but tedious. I tried and tried and tried again, but it just didn't do it for me. I'll stick with LoS2 and Dark Souls 2 to occupy me for now.
Oh, and Mercenary Kings! Out of all the games I just mentioned, next to Dark Souls, that's probably the best of the bunch!
Opinion Question Time: If Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. sell boatloads of copies would it --STILL-- be too late to save the Wii U?
Looking at the Wii U upcoming release list, there's literally next to nothing. If both of those games sell a million systems apiece, it would --STILL-- take Ninty and devs close to a year to start putting out titles again. Too little, too late?
I'm not even entertaining that idea. I'm just trying to get through it. I've gotten through the first two bosses, and I've finally gotten back on track again so I'm making progress again. I really just want to finish it right now. If I hit another one of those roadblocks though I'll probably put it up for good. It's really crossing the line between hard but fun to just frustrating.
Unless Nintendo has secretly been sourcing out IP's to other developers over the past few months (like they sort of suggested they would) there really isn't any saving the Wii U through software. Until it reaches an insane pricepoint (like the Gamecube's $99 price) I don't really see a hell of a lot of movement for it post Smash Bros.
I suppose the other alternative is just say, "fuck it" to any of the processing power of the Wii U and go hard after a niche audience that will accept retro graphics for new games, and then flood the console with tons of new retro games. Not sure there's more than a million or so people who'd really want new old school Mega Man X games though.
My gut feeling tells me that MK8 will shift more then a million units. Still, one game doesn't make a generation. I don't think Nintendo will be able to turn around the WiiU like they did the 3DS, by virtue of it taking much more time and resources to make games for the U. I don't think this will pose much of a problem for them this gen, but if they don't play with the big boys next gen, and they don't strike gold like they did with Wii, I can see Nintendo being d00med next gen.
Oh there is THE ROADBLOCK to end all roadblocks in this game. I might as tell you now to save you the trouble.
When you get the super bomb... go to the area with the glass tube that you run through, its under water. Use a super bomb in the glass tube and it will shatter allowing you to enter the next area.
Those two games alone? No. But f they were to release a Galaxy 1&2 HD collection, Galaxy 3, and a new Zelda this year. That would probably save the U.
The wii U is dead, its over nothing can save it. The question is how long will nintendo continue to drag its corpse along.
Wow Infamous is boring.
PS4 killer app!
Nintendo needs some third party mp exclusives. Not happening but...
I finally figured this out about 2 hours ago. And yeah, WTF???? I was about the lose my damned mind trying to figure out what else was left for me to explore before that.
Mario Kart 8 will be interesting to watch though. MK Wii sold over 35 million copies. That's like mythical. You get one or two games like that a generation. If they can find a way to convince even 25% of those people to come on board for the new version, it'd certainly go a long way on keeping the system around for a while. Iwata might even keep his job too.
One other thing to consider: Is Nintendo being judged too harshly? Even if the Wii U sold well, would there be that many more games available? Looking at the PS4, there's --N-O-W-H-E-R-E-- near the amount of games being produced for IT at it's time in it's life-cycle than the PS3 and 360 when they were this old. There's less developers and less publishers willing to even try to produce AAA games these days due to cost constraints and the super-attractive lure of putting out a cheap to make, pay to play game that will just generate revenue with minimal effort. I look at the PS4 and I can count on one hand the titles I want for IT. It's future right now doesn't look much brighter than the Wii U. The future seems to be about either cheap to produce games --or-- games that the publisher can charge a monthly fee for to max profits. I think we'll see even less games than every one is anticipating in the future --and-- I suspect people will find ONE **or more** game(s) **FFXIV, Everquest** where they will be paying a subscription fee to take up the majority of their time. I can see myself paying for FFXIV, for example, buying The Witcher 3, Destiny and Batman, and picking up random Indie games on PSN...
...and THAT'S IT!
Maybe it's not JUST Nintendo?
No its still the lack of any support on Wii U. PS4 will have every third party game going forward. You will play the next FF, the next RE, the next MGS, the next GTA, the next CoD, the next AC, the next Tomb Raider, the next Deus Ex, the next Mass Effect, the next Far Cry, and so on. You will get absolutely none of that on Wii U.
So while Sony and Nintendo both are slowing down production it wont be as noticable as it is with Wii U.
Spread those out and it doesn't equal much over the next few years. I know what you are saying, but there's going to be gaps in between. What's going to fill them? There's not so many little devs out there anymore. Indie yeah, but it's going to be sparse!
Yeah, I can see the lack of big developers and the second guessing by the ones still around as being a major factor this gen. Game releases are going to be sparse for years probably.
Hmm, out of all of those game franchises listed, I'm only going to be buying one. Can you guys guess which one?
This week, I've been having a ball on a private island, driving four wheeler, hang gliding, and riding on jet skis. Oh, I've also killed several hundred pirates and hunting a mystical knife for some fuck called Buck.
what about you dudes?
