Game Scoop! Presents The BIG RPG Preview
Did you know there are 30 RPG's scheduled for 2014? Actually an IGN video worth watching!?ign.com editorial impressions media phantom_leo
Another use of the Oculus Rift and why it will be the future. Full 3D video viewing, meaning actual video from our world being about to be seen in a 360 space.Imagine the documentary Planet Earth but you get to control what you look at, you are put into the amazon.
Here is a post on gaf about this:
;">The best video like this is one VRPlayer one with the Lapdancing woman that is on the oculus forums! But those 360 degrees demos always, ALWAYS have the same problem: if you are sitting while watching this, it gets kind awkward to turn around because you end up tangled in the cables, and you are standing up, you are always super worried about dragging your laptop, or the oculus control box off the table because the cables themselves are short.
;">Still, very well made 360 degrees oculus vids are REALLY cool to experience. Its a shame that most of them are crappy or dont really work well. The lapdancing girl demo works perfect because "you" are sitting on a couch while the woman dances and spins around the room with the 3d sound effects of her boots going around you as she dances using chairs, the couches, etc. The Immersion factor is incredible. It's a very tame dance, no nudity or tasteless things going on, but still.
;">It's a shame it's NSFW in nature and it's kinda weird to use it to demo, because people might get the impression that the oculus is a porn device or something.
;">But still, 360 degrees vids work better if you are not moving, because when 'you' start moving around in the vids and since you have no control, it really breaks the VR immersion. It works with rollercoaster rides demo because 'you' are sitting and it's an object moving you around.
;">It's very hard to explain how different the experience is.
Big Red Button Entertainment, the new game studio founded in February 2008 by Naughty Dog vets, who left the company they helped found to establish the "United Artists of games."
Bob Rafai was the former art director at Naughty Dog and had the distinction of being its first employee. He led visual development on Crash Bandicoot and the Jak and Daxter series, as well as co-art directing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. E. Daniel Arey, Naughty Dog's former senior designer and creative director, has headed up or assisted development on multiple titles, including Gex, Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Rafei will assume the role of Chief Visual Officer at the new studio, while Arey will become its Chief Creative Officer.
Well you answered your own question, game sites care about game news and the Playstation brand is doing great. Plus all those cuts and sell offs may seem bad but its proof that Sony is doing something about the losses, Nintendo did nothing,
But yeah it would be nice for the stories to mention Sony as a whole as that does effect gaming.
Doing nothing is much better than cutting people. That is just letting knowledge walk away. Knowledge that your competitors can and will use!
They love a good story and nothing generates hits like Nintendo is doomed. But remember PS4 is a huge success, Wii U is an absolute failure, so again there is a huge difference at where the two companies are at. That is what people see, not the financial figures of the company, those figures only aid the story if it fits with the narrative.
And then there is the Vita. Nobody is talking about that either.
Summary: -Big Red Button (Wii U) and Sanzaru (3DS) are making the game. The two SKUs are different games in the same universe. -Sonic Boom Wii U is what the info below pertains to. -The game runs on CryEngine. -Big Red Button is lead by Bob Rafei, a Naughty Dog veteran of the Jak & Daxter series and Uncharted 1. A lot of the team members also worked on Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank. -The Sonic Boom series as a whole is being run out of Sega of America as a fully Westernized version of the franchise, whereas Sonic Team in Japan is managing the Japanese based series. The concept actually started with the TV show (made in France) and then they decided to make games with Western devs to support that. -While speed is an element in the game, it's not the main focus for the Sonic Boom series. -Combat and "strong narrative" are major aspects of the game. -While not an open world, the levels are notably more open to allow for more exploration based gameplay. They describe it as "a series of classic sandbox levels branching out into more levels in a spoke-like system". -There is a "critical path" and also a lot of side content that you can do if you want to, similar to other open world/sandbox type games. -The game director notes that his experience on Uncharted was part of their influence in making the game in a more action/adventure direction, and that the team is making a game they would want to play. However, they want to make sure it still feels like a Sonic game instead of just Jak or Ratchet with a Sonic skin. -Each character has different special abilities which tie into both combat and exploration. -They made Amy Rose a much bigger character in the game because they wanted there to be more strong female characters and also for the game to appeal to girls more. They also note "If she was to break out and have a game of her own you'd probably get an idea of what that would look like based on this game." -Their goal is that each of the four characters feel unique gameplay wise and like main characters instead of just Sonic and a bunch of supporting cast. -The game has 2 to 4 player co-op. I'm having issues finding it right now, but I believe I saw another preview that said the game features 2 player co-op for the whole campaign and some modes that support 4 player, but I could be wrong. -The new main enemy is "darker and more foreboding than Eggman is." -Sonic Team will still make games focused on speed that aren't part of the Sonic Boom series. These are being developed in parallel, so (Nirolak's conjecture) expecting annualization is not unreasonable.
It has it's moments. I have almost full range of movement, but if I twist it or reach too far... OUCH! I sprained the muscles between the collar bone and the shoulder pretty badly. I am trying not to use it too much, favoring my left arm and hand more, but if I forget and use my right, I never know what's going to set off the pain again. It's not constant pain, it's just inconvenience and the occasional unpleasant surprise. I am having a hard time accepting it's gonna take 6-8 weeks to heal though. I am not very patient when it comes to things like that.
The worst thing of all is not being able to play the 3DS in bed. I wanna play the Bravely Default demo soooo bad tonight, but... nope! I actually DO want to play the demo before the real game tomorrow because it opens stuff in the game itself!
I'm sitting here in the living room and have no desire to play. I've got to take a couple courses for recertification by the end of March. Maybe by then, I'll be in more of a gaming mood.

I am going to rethink my life...
Leo, how's the shoulder?

Otherwise, I'm fine, though. Thanks for asking!
