Why isn't the FIFA World Cup game on PS4 or Xbox One?
Because Xbox 360 and PS3 still have the biggest audience, EA explains.
EA has explained the reasons behind its decision not to release the upcoming FIFA World Cup game on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, saying that it wants to "make the best game we can for our largest audience, which is still on 360 & PS3."
In a series of tweets responding to questions from puzzled fans this afternoon, EA Sports said:
"Why isn't our World Cup game on X1/PS4? We are making the best game we can for our largest audience, which is still on 360 & PS3. For fans on X1/PS4, #FIFA14 will have a range of World Cup content and tournaments within FUT. More news closer to the tournament."
Its decision to limit the game to Xbox 360 and PS3 comes as a surprise, however, particularly given comments made by EA last week who said that it had experienced a "much sharper decline than anticipated in demand for current-generation software" at the tail-end of last year.
to be fair a couple of sites have sectioned off the stories. Still, I realise gaming sites would be mor interested in gam news but every site headlining with a positive, that plays down, or ignores the negative? a few sites stories content text doesn't evn mention the other aspects 2 the story wtf? $1 bill loss? 5k job cuts? bye bye PC? focus now on smartphones? tv spun off to a niche?
compare the stories 2 nintendo whose shares recovered bak 2 normal, who haven't fired or cut out parts or their business and who have projected a far smaller loss. and the games press relentlessly hounded as DOOMED, portraying them as forever being on the brink of death.
Well you answered your own question, game sites care about game news and the Playstation brand is doing great. Plus all those cuts and sell offs may seem bad but its proof that Sony is doing something about the losses, Nintendo did nothing,
But yeah it would be nice for the stories to mention Sony as a whole as that does effect gaming.

dat contrast though, one company portrayed as teetering on the brink of death? Other company starts flailing about cutting out parts of its busniess, sacking thousands, projecting billion loss and it hardly registers with gaming press. ps brand isn't going to cover sonys 20 billion debt and 1 billion losses for the year. dis proof of it doing something is indicating just how badly they r doing, imagine if Nintendo pulled out of making handhelds? N isprojecting a full yearly loss on par with what EA lost in one quarter alone - yet its mass hysteria in the press?
gaming press wants n to make dudebro console + dudebro games, so batters them about da head every chance they get to let them know. gaming press likes a normal power PS4 console so plays down any financial woes and re-validates their own opinions. it's like selective amnesia.
edit - and where's da headlines on the 6.2bn write-off on “certain PC titles sold by Sony Online Entertainment”. and dat sony have said they're to focus on smartphones and tablets? after all the "nintendo should b on smartphones" here we actually have a company doing just that.

They love a good story and nothing generates hits like Nintendo is doomed. But remember PS4 is a huge success, Wii U is an absolute failure, so again there is a huge difference at where the two companies are at. That is what people see, not the financial figures of the company, those figures only aid the story if it fits with the narrative.
>Sonic Boom to premiere on Cartoon Network in September 2015 >Will be "strictly a comedy", and poke fun at the series >Many obscure characters from "decades of Sega classics" will make cameo appearances >Characters to get redesigns "reflective of a new era, but still acknowledging the charm of the classic, iconic art style of yesteryear". >Takashi Iizuka to be a close associate and creative consultant to the show. >Crush 40 to work on the show's soundtrack. >Characters will "act their age". Sonic and Amy are in their teens, Tails is 10, Knuckles is 19 and "Eggman is as old as you think he is". >The humor and self-awareness in Sonic Generations partly inspired the desire to reboot the Sonic universe.

To quote GAF:
"Heh, for an article titled "Sony cutting 5,000 jobs, reverts forecast to loss", and goes on to detail an overall LOSS of $1.1bn, this is a hell of a cherry picked thread title and quote"
You're right about the narrative but that's the problem, gamers/media want to establish and reinforce a narrative -fuk my wrist is hurting- there is a huge difference at where the two companies are at - one has been laying people off for 6 years, losing money, selling off property and now divisions, bailing out of some markets, whilst restructuring their divisions where they can't compete and refocusing on smartphones and tablets, with a $20 billion debt and $1billion yearly losses. The other has been realtively stable for the past 30 years with no debt and huge cash reserves. and yet the contrast in media coverage is massively skewed and spun into the negative with one of them.
That looks... GOOD. The worlds were huge, action looked fast paced. The different charcters didnt seem to have stupid side gameplay, they seemed to fit into the fast action. Graphics were amazing. Hmm.
Big Red Button Entertainment, the new game studio founded in February 2008 by Naughty Dog vets, who left the company they helped found to establish the "United Artists of games."
