I listened to the christmas podcast of game under, the one about why we game. Another fantastic podcast guys, I was sad when it ended, my car ride felt so lonely after that.

The RE5 thing, wow Aspro. When he said I told him the game fixed the viewpoint I was like "no that was RE6, hes confused" Then as foolz asked a few more questions what happened started to come into view and I actually screamed out "noooooo aspro nooooo" when I realized what you did, then you caught on. I assume you returned it already.

So am I talked about in every podcast. I will need a 5 hour podcas just to reply to everything said about me. Foolz got in correct on why I dont like FPSs as much, I just not great at the mechanics and I find them a bit too simple. On CoD, I really liked CoD4. I like the Michael Bay nature of the games but the gameplay is pretty bad. And right now the games have become a paradoy of themselves. I really don't like CoD, I would still play it though.

Foolz you have the strangest reason to play games I have ever heard but its very interesting. Sorry to hear about your pain. I am definetly more like Aspro on this topic.

Lego City Undercover and how it ruined other Lego titles per a Wife's perspective :

Thought of typing this up as I was reflecting back on all the Lego games that have passed through our household over the years…. specifically all the ones the wife has both played AND platinumed, believe or not. Let it be known, my wife isn't a gamer per say but adores this games.


So yeah, basically she recently finished Lego Marvel Superheros and ended up almost detesting the experience. When the time came to check out the post game content, she pretty much said "fuck this, i'm done…."

Leading up to this, I would sit in on her play sessions and sort of listen to both the things she had to say as well just her reactions in general.

The majority of the time it was either boredom, frustration, or indifference because of the following (i'm sort of paraphrasing her here):

- The world is barren, ugly and is merely there


- The fisticuffs, which was never really great in any Lego game to begin with, is particularly insufferable here due to them having needlessly overlong animations. Not to mention, you're the one doing the vast majority of it because the team AI does FUCKING NOTHING

- The Jokes are lame. Dialog is borderline shitty and completely unfunny

- The side content is boring or in some cases, broken

Furthermore...


- The missions are dumb and mostly consist of you just guiding the heroes (of which there are up to 4 now and you can't specifically choose which one you want to be at any given time. Have Fun!) from one end of the hallway to the other with needless padding. Shit like having the hulk, who mind you can jump over buildings in a single bound, wait for Captain America to flip a switch so he can cross a 10 ft gap…. and… that's it. This is your exciting super hero gameplay stretched over a mere 6 or so hours.


- Your super hero buddies now almost do NOTHING when you aren't controlling them. The NPC AI is almost nonexistent outside flipping the switches. Like I honestly don't remember it being THIS bad in prior Lego games. It's like the developers didn't have the time or the patience with this one to even bother with it because they probably assumed most won't care or they would be playing with friends anyway.


Basically the game overall is a clear representation of what happens when Traveler's Tales hoards these IPs and has them coming out so damn frequently. The game… simply… is…not.. there...


How does this matter or relate to Lego City?

…basically it's the complete damn opposite and here's why:


+It isn't tied to much of any license (other than Lego City, which is just… well Legos), so it's free to just do sooo much more


+ You never really have to babysit nonexistent partner AI. It's just you as Chase McCain.


+ It was actually in development for a long time and by another team entirely


+ Missions are varied, fun, and damn charming


+ The game is legitimately hilarious at times. Don't know if it's because they had actual comedians work on it or what, but yeah, it's quite surprising how many good little bits are in there. It's also gleefully self-aware all the time.

+ The city itself is both beautiful as well as packed with content. More importantly packed with actual GOOD content. My wife had no problem doing everything and enjoying every minute of it.


+ The Lego aesthetic itself is constantly in the forefront, not only just with the characters like all the other licensed games. It feels like you're playing with, I dunno, sort of an alive Lego set! Everything from the vehicles, the power builds, costume changes, etc.


Needless to say, yeah, both she and I are pretty bummed because more than likely A: we won't get another Lego experience like that and B: Travelers Tales will keep doing what they do despite the diminishing returns in quality because, hey, they sell a shiton anyway.

Level-5 Trademarks Yo-kai Watch in the US

This has me excited. Despite being a little burned by how boring Ni No Kuni was, I still can't help but get excited by anything that Level-5 puts out. Hope this one turns out good.

Capcom details its business plans for the next five years "Our goal is to further strengthen marketing strategies for (1) downloadable content (DLC), (2) mobile contents, (3) online operations, and (4) brand contents"
