IGN article says it's the same hardware underneath, same firmware. Usually with 3D off games do use the freed up power to deliver better AA and better framerates. See DOA, RE, SF4 and more.

I have a win8 phone, so I'm not sure if all games are available on the Windows 8 store as well, but I enjoyed the demo's of Contre Jour and Flight Control. Apparently Plants VS Zombies is gimped on Win8, so I don't know if you should pick that up, should it be your thing.
And once more: what device did you get? What brand and specs?
I cant find the exact model, it's like this but comes with the keyboard dock for a combined battery life of 20 hours.

I'd play only AC2, the first one is a nice introduction to the series but to be honest the "lore" is too fucked up and convoluted to give a shit about, and the second game improved over the first one on so many levels while retaining the same overall vibe it almost rendered it useless unless you're planning to really soak in the whole smorgasbord of plot.
Brohood and Revelations only expand upon what 2 built. They're skipabble IMO.
The real question is...why are you playing AC3? Unles you got it dirt cheap or as a gift.

Be sure to give us impressions on the wacom pen functionality (perhaps good apps?). I'm seriously considering getting a Surface Pro (1st gen, or maybe wait for 2nd gen), but if there aren't any good userfriendly apps that let you use it as a decent notebook, there's little added value.

Anyway, I can't continue with RS2 for the minute due to my hip, so I started a new campaign of Killzone 2 so I can unlock the hardest difficutly again on the new PS3. I forgot how good the single player looks compared to the multiplayer. The characters look mediocre to bad, but the environments are just stunning.
Yeah...no. I don't think you're gonna do any kind of gaming with that. Besides tablet adapted stuff I mean.
Well so far it's a little weird, I want to just use the stylus but as accurate as it is you cant use it to browse the internet in the same way you can with the wii u for instance. You can highlight text and use it for mouse clicks but you cannot scroll the screen with it it, so you end up using the right hand for the stylus and left or for scrolling, which is a pain in the ahole. It has two clickable buttons. It's accurate and a good size, but I don't know if it's because of the updates or something but there is a slight delay when drawing which makes it seem laggy compared to drawing on the 3ds or wii u screens. I have only tried it with two programs so far. Seems decent for hand notetaking.
Honestly I could have got a touchscreen laptop 500gb HDD, 4GB RAM i3 - i5 for the same price but then I thought, I don't want to be stuck with a laptop for the next 5 years, I want something light, slim with great battery life but something still compatible with existing accersoies and programs I use. 20 hours battery life FTW and Windows 8 phone convinced me the OS would be intuitive. Is there a way to filter steam results by specs or to search for classic 90s games and filter out all this newbie tablet/phone shit?
No such filter options on Steam about that, as far as I know. There are a number of vintage games and packs around, but you'd have to look for them manually. The SEGA Genesis games, old school adventure games (not many) and stuff like that.
To be frank, for vintage adventure computer games I'd say your best bet would be GoG, not Steam.
