I still dont get why they chose the most beautiful Zelda of all time, the timeless one, as the one that needed a graphics update. TP looks like DOODOO. Fix that one.
Hero mode at the start is a huge plus for me. First person mode is interesting but if its a test for Zelda Wii U I dont want it. If the next Zelda is first person I will throw my Wii U in the trash and take video for all to see. (Then after finishing the video I will take it out of the trash, dust it off and put it right back on the shelf)
Mario World impressions from gamescom, some dude on gaf:
;">I was able to play the demo again. A lot. No line, so single player.
;">I used every character. Played every stage in the demo. You shouldn't judge a Mario game based on the demo, for all we know the good part of the game will be the entire second half, like in 3D Land. But I'm going to judge a Mario game based on the demo.
;">It's really not that fun. The characters don't move as well as Mario in Galaxy, let alone the perfection of Mario 64. The long jump SUCKS, goes about as far as a normal jump. Not even sure why it's in the game.
;">Further more, the characters feel VERY similar. Far more similar than the four characters in Mario 2. Peach floats for like half a second. I couldn't tell any difference between Mario, Toad and Luigi, honestly. I really hope they fix this for launch. Being able to tackle stages different ways in Mario 2 using the strengths/weaknesses of the different characters was a very good thing. I wasn't able to do anything;"> different on a select stage with any different characters (I'm thinking high ledges that only Lugi can reach, or a far away platform only Peach can float to). It's always one, identical path.
;">Which brings me to the level design. It's not that good. The art style is bland, stage design itself is mostly flat and wide, likely to accommodate 4 players, the difficulty is extremely low... but clear pipes I guess? Also, they tend to throw walls at you a lot. Because getting the new cat suit and abusing it's mythical powers to CLIMB WALLS is so fun. Wait, it's actually slow and irritating and the furthest thing from fun. The only fun thing about the cat suit is it's dive attack, because I'm pretty sure spamming it is the fastest way to move your character forward.
;">One thing I did like was the boss battle. You use the cat suit to climb up these columns in order to jump on the boss' head. Already more creative and fun than every 3D Land boss combined, so it's looking like they aren't slacking on the bosses this time around.
;">So overall, not very excited at all. Though this is just a demo, and the final game could be totally different, they aren't doing a very good job selling me on the possibility that this could be a worthy successor to the Galaxy games. I just don't see it happening.
Thats all I need to here, it sucks.
Sonic Lost World will be >>> than Super Mario 3D World.
Like it should be.
This made my giddy. This blew my mind to pieces. This is the future. Multiplayer is finally evolving, enough of braindead shoot dudes over and over in arena style matches till the end of time. Now we have gigantic open worlds to explore, a full campaign with all the variety and setpieces of a major single player game but with multiplayer that is seemless. No stupid menus, no lobbies, no getting the same stupid maps over and over. You just happen to cross by your friend in the world and you can join up or walk away. Perfect.
I think of all gameplay innovations for next gen multiplayer optional campaigns will be the biggest new kind of game. We already see three or four games trying it out. Destiny just seems to have taken it to a whole different level.
Possibly GOTY 2014.
Yakuza Ishin. We will never get this.
And still going to be one of the worst games in the series. (Even though its still a solid game)
Eh...I can still appreciate any game's graphics, regardless of style. There were tons of games that I thought looked better than Wind Waker back in the day...and I still think those games look better. They didn't just all the sudden fail to look as good as they used to because they're not cel shaded.
It needs a gameplay update much more than graphics. I thought that was the whole point of them redoing this game when they first announced it. Its been years since playing it, but I remember it being way too easy and of course the fetch quest was way over the top. Also, playing the fucking flute to change wind directions constantly was tedius as hell.
If that guy thought Mario controlled better in Mario 64 than in Galaxy he's smoking crack and his impressions mean little to nothing.
Ahhhhhh I see Capcom gave us the 3 SNES era Street Fighters. If I could give them a quick suggestion. . . fuck the aged and unplayable fighting games and figure out how to get Dungeons and Dragons to work!!!!
Sonic versuses Wiseman. How incredible is this going to be? I'm hoping they might sneak NiGHTS in there as a playable character too. If nothing else actually adding NiGHTS into a Sonic game would be a great way to help reintroduce the character and series. Sega has done a good job of making Sonic pretty successful again. Time to dust off NiGHTS for a new game.
Wind Waker is actually worth replaying, Twilight Princess is not.
Please. If you could play Zelda U in first person with the Oculus Rift, you'd have the biggest nergasm ever.
Really what other choice was there? They just redid Ocarina of Time and they're likely saving Majora for the 3DS. They're not going to remake Twilight Princess since it's just one generation old. Any older and they'd have to recreate the entire game. Maybe they should have a tried a 3DO Zelda game?
Still better than Skyward Sword.
You hear that Iga.
Then all you are saying is that Skyward Sword needs a gameplay update as well.
Its issues are deeper than WW. The core mechanics were fantastic. The sky overworld was a pile of crap. And the whole going back and forth to the same three areas did get a little bit boring, not as interesting as discovering a new location.
WW was too easy and had too few dungeons. Everything else was just fine.
I had more fun with Star Fox Adventures than I did with Wind Waker back in the day, so what do I know. Though I don't consider either to be a 9+ game.
Speaking of crazy graphics...those fur effects in Star Fox are still awesome. Fuck I wonder what else Rare could have done on the Gamecube?
The Wind Waker is better than The Witcher 2.
The depth of field and heat shimmer effect were brilliant too.
Not for the most part. If you take said old games and view them in HD, which is what Dolphin allows for instance they do not look anywhere near as good. In HD the low res textures and rigid edges with low polys really show up.
They've fixed all of that. Hero mode, sailing without changing the wind direction plus a faster sail, sat nav gamepad use and the fetch quest at the end has been shortened to 3 pieces instead of 8 on the sea, the rest found on land. Plus they have incorporated the tingle tuner gba to GC functionality into the game.
I was arcade versions, what's this SNES version shit?
You crazy.
Someone please review Ducktales remastered for us people who never played the original please and whether it's worth the asking price. Even if it's a shorthand review.
