What's up with that HL3 link, GG? It's from 2011 and it doesn't really confirm that the game doesn't exist.

It's an interview with one of the HL main voice actors. I didn't read it or check the date. I don't actually read every story I post, there is no time for that. Someone brought it up on a forum and I assumed it was current. It seems the actor replied in the comments recentely and said the game was not in production.

Former Nintendo marketer chats about the GameCube era

T'was a good read.  Gives you a lot of insight in how Nintendo as an enterprise is just so much about bureaucracy as it is about gameplay.  Some quotes:

Kyle Mercury said:
The Wii thrived because it changed gamers expectations.  The GameCube and Wii U suffered because gamers expectations have changed.”
Kyle Mercury said:
At the time, Nintendo believed “Geist” — a first person shooter published by Nintendo — would be GameCube’s “Halo Killer”.  ...  Because of Miyamoto’s minor involvement, Nintendo had strong confidence in the title, and everyone inside the meeting reassured Reggie that “Geist” would become a huge hit with the older hardcore gamers who loved “Halo”.
Kyle Mercury said:
At the time, Reggie had been appointed as the new NOA Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  Everyone was asked to just nod their heads quietly to everything shown in the presentation.  Nobody wanted to be embarrassed in front of Reggie.
Kyle Mercury said:
Being booked into a Vivid Pictures (the porn studio) release party in LA to show of the pre-launch Gameboy Advance SP hardware.

Seemed pretty clear to me.  NOA: Yes men that were twarted by the cultural divide with Japan.  Nintendo Japan: completely lost as to why they were being trumped by Sony.  In the end, most of the things he said weren't all that cheerfull, regardless of him talking about NOA or Japan.

I didn't get that, reading it I thought the interview-ee was at a 3rd party marketing company contracted by NOA. And so did he actually have any contact with Nintendo Japan? Or was everything he was saying about NOA - or relayed through NOA?

Call of Duty: Ghosts Xbox One and PS4 textures are inferior to PC version:

PC game has its own set of assets, says exec producer Mark Rubin.

The PC version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature higher resolution textures than those used in the PS4 and Xbox One versions, executive producer Mark Rubin has told Kotaku.

"PC is taking a different tack from previous games [in the series,]" Rubin said.

"Now, PC has its own set of assets," Rubin said. "It's going to look better than any Call of Duty we've ever made on PC."

"They're actually using an even higher version in many cases than the next-gen consoles, from a texture standpoint."

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released November 5 for current systems, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions yet to be date.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

The next-gen systems already falling behind the PC is a little concerning given that new consoles have been able to outperform PCs at launch in the past. If PC tech is already more powerful than the new consoles, the gulf will likely only become more apparent in the coming years.

New consoles have been able to outperform PC's at launch in the past? Really? Or was it that developers just put more effort into certain console games in the past? I know that new consoles are usually COMPARABLE to a powerful PC. But surpassing them?

Giest a Halo killer? LMFFFFFAO.

I actually liked Giest...it had some good ideas and I wouldn't mind seeing another game like that on the Wii U. But in no way was it a killer of anything, nevermind Halo. In fact it wasn't even a shooter so much as a 1st-person adventure game with puzzles. It was nothing like Halo. If Nintendo really thought that was a Halo killer they were on better crack than Sony thinking Killzone was.

Nintendo's best chance at a Halo killer in the Gamecube era would have been to keep Rare and have them make a Perfect Dark like the 1st one but with the full power of the Cube behind it, modern controls, and online play.

Yeah, PS4 and Xbone are mid-range PCs at best. I could build an equivalent PC right now for about $800 using retail parts. I don't care about console's power when compared to a high-end PC, because a high-end PC will always be far more expensive, and I'm not willing to pay that premium to have (IMO) slightly better visuals and framerates.

I was thinking about getting a new PC for the kids since they're getting old enough that they really need one for school. I figure if I'm going to drop a couple hundred on a school PC why not drop a couple hundred more and have a gaming one?
