Yep, Nintendo finally made it to 2006. They're having actual sales. Zombie U was recently 30% off. And most of the digital only games like Little Inferno have already been as much as 50% off. I assumed the 3DS eShop has been the same way.
Hurray beer!
As much as the question of internet connections for the consumer still needs to be considered, let's take a look at SimCity for a second. EA has had trouble supporting one fairly well anticipated game on their servers. What the hell would happen when a new Call of Duty comes out and people try to play it on a hosted environment?
But it's worked so well for the new Sim City!!!
DAMMIT!! BEAT BY SECONDS BY ROBIO, AGAIN!!!
Sim City...lol. What a disaster. Take note, Microsoft!
And I elaborated considerably more. I get extra points for my Sim City post.
In other news I'm out of beer. Normally I'd move on to tequila or whiskey but I'm also out of that. I have rum and vodka, but I'm not interested in that. Oh well.... serves me right for trying to quit bad stuff. Bailey's here I come!
Ouch! I probably download more than 8GB of porn each month.
I don't think I've ever uttered these words before, but I feel bad for your penis...
Fuckin' A. EA has the crown jewell of pc gaming (give the mass appeal) and they fuck it up on a scael that is equal to the Challenger disaster.
Well it has stopped it being pirated in the sense that other games are pirated. Same with Diablo 3. I'm not sure why these companies don't go for USB dongle copy protection instead, though which is even more effective. (At least in some cases.) I suppose they think a USB dongle would be too expensive to manufacture and ship with each game? But with the billions of dollars they're apparently losing from piracy, wouldn't it better to take the smaller loss of including a USB dongle and having all those pirates buy their game instead?
You said dongle!
**giggle!**
Thes facist c**** are opposed to any form of physical medium. No way they woudl ship a USB and stop digital distribution.
I don't understand the usb dongle bit.
Software protection dongle
How would pirates be prevented from simply copying what's inside the dongle?
Don't know. Maybe there's some kind of chip or processor inside the dongle that would be too difficult or expensive to copy?
No idea how it works, but I do know that some dongle protected products remain 100% uncracked, unlike Diablo and Sim City where you can do server emulation. I don't think it's the case with all dongle protected products, but don't really know.
Been adding some more mods to my Skyrim playthrough. I'm still not completely convinced to try out some of the more dramatic ones out there, like the ones that de-level loot and encounters, or the ones that overhaul and completely change the skill, leveling and perk systems. Maybe I'll leave those for a future playthrough. In the meantime, though, the ones I have picked up throughout these weeks have transformed the game into something much closer to what it should have been to begin with.
A nice view of the Solitude bay during the night of the Burning of King Olaf's festival. Mods used include RLO (realistic lighting overhaul), Realistic Lights and FX, WATER, Enhanced Night Sky, Vibrant Auroras and Shooting Stars (those last don't show).
Wet and Cold adds lots of nifty effects such as snow accumulation over your character or horse, and thawing when you reach a heat source. You also get diminished visibility when looking up if raining and during blizzards. If you swim or are in the rain your body drips water, which then freezes if the weather is cold enough. There's also visible cold breath for you and NPCs. Speaking of NPCs, they wear proper gear if it's raining or snowing. Sometimes they even get back home or inside an inn.
The Interesting NPCs mod adds a LOT of fully voiced NPCs with extensive dialogue options and even their own sidequests and loot. Bethesda should hire these guys.
My latest addition. Vilja adds a companion character with a huge-ass quesline of her own that entangles with your own main quest at several points. She has a fuckton of voiced dialogue, extensive dialogue options, location-specific party banter/chatter and even voiced interactions with other NPCs or followers. For someone like me, who wants to roam the wilderness with someone besides but that has always found Skyrim's companions dull, this is something worth checking out.
So, I've been playing some Tomb Raider tonight, and it has got me thinkin'. After crawling around rotting bodies, wading in disgusting sewer water, and, most likely, crapping her pants on at least a couple occasions, Lara has got to be smelling pretty damn bad by now. /random thought.
