A few hours in and I am enjoying the game cause the action is fast and fluid but boy is it easy. I started on the hardest setting available and I went through the first level without getting touched until the first boss. The second level is a ton of tutorials which introduce the different weapons and platforming. There is no need for so many gaps in the action, it is one of the slowest most boring levels of any DMC game. Hopefully i got through all the handholding and we can get to the killing which is a lot of fun cause the combos you can do are insane. They simplified the canceling so it is much more accessable allowing anyone to string super combos. I can stay in the air almost forever by doing enemy jump out of a canceled attack. I found you can start a combo with one weapon and substitue the final super attack with another weapons super attack mid combo, excellent way to use the powerful weapons strongest attack in a much faster way.

Having played the demo I know that the enemy combinations get better. I am not a fan of color coded enemies, I havent encountered them yet in the game but I know they are coming. Overall the combat feels super fast and incredibly responsive but the enemies are just not up to par to giving you a challenge.

The game world is amazingly beautiful, you will love the limbo world shifting effects. There are still secrets all over to find, some requiring you to go back to past levels with new skills to find. The secret levels so far have been super easy, here is hoping they have better challenges later. Platforming is ok, its not going to be anything that requires skill but it can be fun to pull off.

Above all the combat system feels great and that is what matters. The game has plenty of time to fix the other issues. I dont expect the best DMC game but it sure isn't a DMC2.

And yes the story is pretty neat.

Thanks for impressions Vade.  Now I am playing the DMC franchise again I am putting together what makes them so special.  The first thing I came up with is the character animation.  They are so fluid and satisfying, much like those found in Soul Calibur, where you can swithc in and out of any move and somehow it looks natural.

Is this addressed in DmC?

After 6 hours in, 10 levels complete, I can say this is easily inferior to the good 3 DMC games. It just feels slow with almost no wow moments of any kind. Everything feels predictable, you will enter a room fight a bunch of dudes, do some platforming, fight dudes. While most of DMC games involve this many mix it up with crazy boss battles, strange puzzle levels, things that make you go woah.

In my 6 hours playing I fought three bosses and they have all been horrible, that is inexcusable. The enemy variety just isnt as interesting as other DMC games and the move progression doesn't feel like it is impacting the combat all that much. Many levels have too much platforming or gaps in any action which is going to make replaying them a chore.

It is such a shame cause I think the combat feels fantastic. It is extremely easy to switch between weapons and create insane combos. That alone is what still keeps this game at such a high level. I think the mid to low 8 range score is where this game belongs, in contrast I felt the main 3 DMC games are all masterpieces in their own way.

Unless you plan to really sink into this game and do all the difficulty levels I would just rent it. I am sort of regretting my purchase, I would have had more fun replaying DMC4. But my curiosity always gets the better of me.

Well, I got my 3DS XL tonight! Heh, I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow. Played a little bit of Mario Kart7. The 3D doesn't not work for me (blurry no matter how I hold it), so I'll be playing it as a 2D machine, which was expected. The screens are very nice; XL is definitely the way to go. I don't like the power button; I keep wanting to press it to pause the game. Hrm

Weeds! Weeds everywhere! I played Animal Crossing: Wild World for the first time in 3.5 years, and there are thousands of weeds! Not the good kind either! crying

Played a little Ouendan too. Both games look and play great on my 3DS XL. I still suck at Ouendan, though. LOL

Disney Infinity looks pretty cool. I'm sure my son will love playing it. To me though I see it as a neat little sandbox toy to pick up now and then, but I'm just not convinved there will be a whole lot of depth to it. They keep mentioning Toy Story 3 as the model. That was a pretty neat game, but sandbox features aside it got old quick. But to younger players I think this could be just about the coolest thing ever.

And on a completely different note, I don't know how I missed this last fall, but apparently back in October an announcement was made. EverQuest 3 is in development! WOO-HOO!!!!

Okay, I finally found a comfortable way to play in 3D. I have to turn the left side of the screen away from me, and view it from a slight angle in order to see clear 3D. It works really well now.

Cool, I am happy for you. And wow, they are doing it huh? Well, cool.

Supposedly it had been under development for a while and then they completely scrapped what they were doing. That was pretty much in line to be another typical MMORPG. They haven't released any details on what they're doing with the new direction, but they insist it will be different (then again I suppose every developer makes claims about how revolutionary their game will be). Still, I'm just excited to get a chance to revisit the world of Norrath. The original EQ has a very rich in-game history which I don't think had ever been equaled, not even by WoW. Any chance to expand on that is a good thing in my book.

Sony's Bizarre ... Well You Just Have To Read This One

Ever since the Vita launched I've said that the only thing they're missed from making their handheld a success was a fun alarm clock. And now the Vita has it. And better yet they've made waking up fun! Now it's a mulit-player experience!!!! Genius I say! GENUIS!!!
