RDR is an absolute masterpiece. One of the greatest endings of all times. Undead Nightmare is interesting for a while but it lacks much of the variety and fun of the main game.
I've heard that the show really kicks it up a notch in season 2 and gets really good. I think the first season really sets it up all as a character study instead of a show held together with a continuous storyline, which I think it needs (and possibly gets if I've been told correctly).
I would sit yourself down and watch at least one more episode though. The 6th episode was really good and exactly where I started to "get it."
So that rhythm FF game, is that like Elite Beat Agents but with FF music?
I am enjoying Dragon's Dogma but the mapping system sucks , its way too restrictive. Everything is cutoff and forces you to backtrack, go around and get lost. Very annoying.
About 7% into A Feast for Crows!
Yes, and the music brings back SUCH memories...
GREAT game!
Well Vader did say it was shite.
Damn, I was hoping for something a lot better than American Nightmare. Oh well, I'm still interested.
Free weekend.
I really like his books, I finished reading Full Dark, No Stars a while ago and I loved it.
Yoda has some backup!
If foolz hates something that something is usually excellent at what it does.
If you think that Stephen King's writing is anything but abysmal then your opinion that the LOTR films are adequate adaptations of the books is explained. His writing is barely above the level of fan fiction, though in his non-horror/sci-fi works he is almost a mediocre storyteller; the writing hardly improves there, though. He is equivelent to the likes of Justin Bieber, but without the same polish that Bieber has. Rebecca Black would be a better comparison...but without the naive sincerity, or the comedy value that a song only lasting for a few minutes allows.
Of course no one cares if his writing is any good or not. He comes up with cool concepts and monsters and the like which adapt well into good films (Shawshank Redemption excepted, where quite bizarrely the book (which is rather dire, but told well enough) is actually better than the sentimental bollocks of the film*) because his ideas are good. If someone with any writing ability could ghost write for him under his (purely conceptual) instructions, then he would probably be readable. It wouldn't matter who, either, because he is genuinly a bad writer. You'd be lucky to find someone worse at random.
*Yes, before you say it, I admit the film is good at being sentimental. That makes it utter shit, but it's utter shit that people are going to love. Your theory holds up here. But here it fails:
If it wasn't for Stephen King we wouldn't have had The Shining or Stand By Me films, so I don't hate him. Therefore we can conclude ( because I don't hate him) that he is in fact shit at what he does. Y u gotta be a hater, Vader?
I'm afraid to ask, but what do you like?
The funny thing is, it's commonly accepted that Stephen King's writing is bad. That is the accepted opinion* of anyone involved in the literary world worth their salt. I am on the side of the majority this time. Though people worth their salt in the literary world are a minority of a broader majority I suppose, but whatever.
To answer your question: Killzone 2 and FIFA.
*I say opinion, but this opinion is based on technique and proper analysis; it's a theory in the scientific sense: the science being that of writing.
Foolz I have seen you say LOTR movies are crap, Steven Spielberg sucks, Paul McCartney sucks, the Godfather movies are terrible, now Steven King is horrible writer. Dont even try to defend yourself.
Only the first one. I haven't seen the rest, and I also said that the first third of it is absolutely mind blowingly good. Get your facts straight.
Honestly if you can't see that Stephen King stands out amongst those things then you must have no exposure to literature beyond Stephen King. The things you mentioned (apart from some of McCartney's solo stuff) are all unanimously praised and considered great by not only the majority, but people who actually matter. That is not even close to being the case with Stephen King. There is no unanimous praise for him, and as I said, people who actually matter think he's shit. You'd be hard pressed to find well respected critics who don't like Spielberg or McCartney (they do exist, but are in the minority) but with Stephen King you'd be hard pressed to find one that didn't think he was absolutely terrible.
As much as it pains me to defend the crap you've mentioned, it's actually insulting to compare Stephen King to them. And also makes no sense.
P.S.
Just noticed what you think I said about Spielberg. Apparently saying that Steven Spielberg is not the best director of all time constitutes saying he sucks?
Also technically I said the LOTR films are crap adaptations. I like them as films (as I've said before). They're good action films, but certainly not classics or anything. Taken as something in any way related to the books then they're insulting, and verging on offensive.
P.P.S.
I do not endorse using other people's views or majority arguments in a discussion as that's just lame, but it fits here given what you're complaining about.
I actually havent read much of anything about King so I have no clue personally. I do know is writtings have been the inspiration for a ton of amazing movies. I cannot think of another author that even comes close to having so many different stories of his put on screen, and great ones. The Shining, Shawshank, Green Mile, The Mist, Carrie, The Stand, The Dead Zone, and much more. Plus I have heard nothing but great things about The Dark Tower series. I have never heard other wise so its new to me, I believe you I just never heard anything bad about him.
OMG did you just say LOTR movies are not classics. They will be forever mentioned in the same sentence as the original Star Wars trilogy as greatest trilogies of all time. It will forever be one of the greatest movie collections of all time.
So hey. Mass Effect 2. Mrs Aspro just finished it. She did everything she could nithe game of course.
The deal is, she saved her entire party except for Jack (for whom she had built up great affinity in-game).
Is is possible to save the entire team? Or do they kill off at least one for the cutscene to work and for dramatic impact?
(I, of course, killed everyone in my team).
