You disaprove of commercial art, yet aprove of concept art. You are not a real art snob after all. Sad

You are right.  I will stand in the corner. Sad

Though in truth, I approved of it for GG's place, as what he intended to get was a lot worse.

I'm still not hanging anything on my walls.  I will tatoo the place

Buying the canvas oil paintings has proved to be a pain in the ass. I had to pay 30% more to get stretcher bars and now I have to mount and frame them and even buy in picture hooks and start drilling holes, screwing them in, then stretching the canvas etc. I wouldn't do it again. Normal glass pane frames and art on paper are the way to go.

Oh man, you bought that triptych?

Sad Sad Sad Sad bugsie sad

So:

MCV said:

Both the Xbox 360 successor AND a follow up to the PS3 will be shown at E3 2012.

The LA show tease will come as Wii U launch details are locked in – and should ensure no ground is lost between competing consoles.

It will mark the very first time in the show’s 17-year history that three fresh, rival console formats will be so directly comparable.

Microsoft has long been rumoured to detail its next-gen plans at E3 2012, and recently signalled to partners this will happen, MCV has been told.

The 360 is one of the longest-serving games consoles in history. But the real surprise is an early move from Sony. Execs at the PlayStation firm have made it clear to third-parties that they will not be left behind this time.

Execs aren’t expecting price or launch details for the new Xbox or PlayStation. But their unveiling could be a perfect spoiler to the pre-Christmas launch date and price that will be revealed for Wii U in June.

Do you think Nintendo made the right decision with the early reveal of Wii U? Will people just wait for the next Sony and MS consoles or will the headstart help Nintendo get a foothold next gen?

I may follow the hobo philosophy for the next generation, depending on what exactly the Wii U has going for it and when Dragon Quest X will be coming out for it. Going the hobo route with the PS3 was the best thing I could have done and it's taught me a good lesson. I had a lot of fun with it for the first 9 months, but since September I've barely touched it except for a brief stint with UMvC3. And really after a few weeks with that I've barely touched it. The 3DS has kept me more than happy and looks to satisfy me for the rest of the year. In fact, judging by how things are going I may stick with handhelds for a while. Console gaming seems to interest me less and less as time goes by.

I'll get all three next gen consoles like I did this gen. I'm not sure which order I'll get them and when though as it'll depend on release dates and prices mostly followed by what games are available at or close to launch.

They made a huge mistake waiting until late 2012 to launch with such an early reveal. The Wii U should be sitting on store shelves with a few solid titles right now...should have released in October of 2011 for about $300.

What reason do they have for waiting until late 2012 to launch this thing? To milk a few more sales out of the Wii? They could have dropped Wii to $99 with a new gimmicky game and it would still be selling regardless. Now, they won't even have a year on the competition most likely, I could definitely see MS and Sony launching by summer 2013 depending how things go, and I can see a Dreamcast like scenario where Wii U is hot until the others launch offering all it has and more, and then popularity just drops. Obviously it will be much more successful than Dreamcast because its Nintendo, but I definitely see this system following the trend of becoming nothing more than the "Nintendo games console" once the others hit, because they won't have enough time on the market to really penetrate the hardcore.

Of course. If the PS2 was any indication, the best games come out for it after the new system launches.

So I saw the Girl Who Leapt through time again last night and it reminded me of how you bastards still haven't seen Summer Wars, the excellent film from the same director.

So I decided to spam you with media and info.

The film tells the story of Kenji Koiso, a timid eleventh-grade math genius who is taken to Ueda by twelfth-grade student Natsuki Shinohara to celebrate her great-grandmother's 90th birthday. However, he is falsely implicated in the hacking of a virtual world by an artificial intelligence. Kenji must repair the damage done to the virtual world and he must find a way to stop the artificial intelligence from causing any further damage.

REVIEW

"Richly detailed and beautifully written, Summer Wars is a film filled with the sprawling chaos of family. Always ready to pause to capture the small details of daily life, Summer Wars uses its scifi premise to provide some punch to the visuals and energy to the proceedings while - so subtly that you barely notice - Hosoda pulls a bait and switch job and delivers not a ripping scifi adventure so much as he does a truly human story, a story of hope and perseverance and learning to become a man. It is a charming and funny piece of work, one that has a spot-on understanding of human nature, one blessed with an extensive cast of stunningly detailed and authentic characters."

Saw that last week, actually.

Really enjoyed it. Wasn't in a fantastic mood so I didn't take in the 20 characters the film expects you to take in, but dug it otherwise.

Launching it last year would never have worked. The only mistake they made was not supporting the Wii with quality games in 2011. The 3DS was a bigger priority and they had no alternative but to launch a new handheld.

Wii U could potentially be huge depending on how that controller gets marketed. The idea that Nintendo is putting a tablet into every home in the world is very big thing. That's why they're doing they're own app store. If that takes off, they'll have another Wii on their hands.

But what if Sony and Microsoft also come out with Tablets? I don't know, last year was a full 5 years of Wii being on the Market. Its outlasted the Gamecube. I think they definitely could have pulled off a launch last year, especially seeing as how the Wii software lineup couldn't have been any deader.

Man, the ending of MGS Peace Walker is a pain in the ass...not because its difficult, but because its one of these games where they want you to do all kinds of stupid bullshit that makes no fucking sense whatsoever (so it takes you forever to figure out just what the fuck they want you to do) just to GET to the end. Point deduction confirmed.

BTW...man does the Wii look like absolute shit on my new TV. lol

Now I see what some of you guys are talking about. I always thought you were crazy, because on my Plasma the Wii didn't look much different than on my old CRT, plus the added benefits of widescreen and 480p. But on my new LCD, it looks horrible. Extremely blurry and muddy picture quality. Zelda is not going to look good. lol

Microsoft wouldn't do that. They're on fire right now and veering from their path will be a mistake. They're just going to focus on integrating Kinnect and making it more powerful. Sony..... I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see them do something similar, but at the same time they've never been ones to innovate for a launch. Motion control didn't really work out well for them.

But that timeline still isn't fair. Nintendo was dead in the water with the GC. They had to launch the Wii fast. The Wii still sells a ton even now. Not enough to be #1, but it's still outselling the PS3 in the US. Real motivation for Nintendo to discontinue it didn't exist last year.
