I've never owned a Samsung product. I usually go with Toshiba.
All products suck. It's just a matter of who you ask about it, especially on the internet where no matter what you plan to buy there's bound to be someone saying "nooooo dude, that ____________ from ____________ is utter shit!", so what you do is and buy your stuff on your own . My last HDTV set was a 32" LCD samsung, and has worked without trouble for more than 4 years. I have no issues buying another one if I happen to catch a good deal on it. If this one sucks, I'll buy TVs from another manufacturer.
Current LED tvs are marketed that way but they're actually LCD displays with an LED backlight. Not true LED displays.
Yeah, but how man times do you hear about the fact that the TV turns itself on in the middle of the night with the volume increasing and it starts changing channels by itself? Turning it off will do nothing, I had to pull the fucking plug. After that the tv changed channels by itself and now in increases the volume for no apparant reason.
Shitty software from a shitty company. I think I will be sticking with Sharp and LG.
Correct, the name for true LED display is OLED. TV companies do that all the time, remember when they marketed de TFT screen?
Hello everyone! I haven't been on much in the last week and a half or so... I've been injured again and sitting at my desk on my laptop is very uncomfortable. The solution to this is: I got one of those desk pillow thingees I can put on my lap and then put my laptop on... but the thought of my laptop basically sitting right over my nads... not very appealing.
Anyway, I came on for two reasons (besides saying hello):
______________
(1) I got my Mario Kart 7 and OMG I AM IN LOVE! It is so pixel-perfect gorgeous, the colors pop, the 3D doesn't seem to ghost AT ALL... There's just sooo much RIGHT about this game... That fat fuck from Destructoid that gave it a 5 out of 10? Pure sensationalism trash! They really need to fire that troll fucker! The gameplay is spot on PERFECT. Controls: Excellent. Sliding into Boosting: Excellent. Gliding and Underwater control: Brilliant... This is one of THOSE Christmas-ie games. It is so happy and full of joy, the colors are so vibrant... It reminds me of when Diddy Kong Racing came out for the N64 at Christmas time and how awesome THAT game was. It brings back GREAT MEMORIES and the gameplay itself? Not old or tired AT ALL. It's like re-visitng an old friend... It's a completely comfortable experience and you just can't help but smile the whole time you are playing it. Between this and 3D Land, by all rights, Nintendo should OWN this Holiday season, but that's yet to be seen. Unfortunately, I was told there was NO ONE else in the store picking up MK when the Gamestop opened this morning, and that makes me worried and kinda sad... Anyhoo... I'll post a bit when I try out the Online!
**You cannot tell from still pics, but I believe it is VERY safe to say MK7 even outshines the Wii game in terms of graphics! Colors are beautiful and high-res as well!**
______________
(2) I believe my GOTY this year is going to be another shocker! Everything I thought was going to be it, was not and a game I never thought I would enjoy as much as I am, is... We'll see after X-Mas or Early January!
______________
Paid for my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles today!
I hereby officially declare: With the release of Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, the 3DS has FINALLY proven itself to be a system worthy of carrying the Nintendo name! That special feeling that a Nintendo fan gets when they get a new Nintendo product... NOW has shown itself! IMO, Nintendo SHOULD HAVE done the strategy they were considering doing at one time, namely, releasing games that were never released in the U.S. (like Soma Bringer) and delaying the 3DS until NOW! In the past 6 months they ONLY managed to piss off and frustrate their loyalest of customers thru pricing mis-steps and the lack of ANYTHING worth playing!
All is forgiven now, Nintendo, but plan your moves with the Wii U WISELY!
**PS: I believe the annoucement of Xenoblade coming to the US = Delayed Release of Wii U to Holiday 2012!**
New TV in my room! Well its the same one we had in the living room, Samsung (suck it Iga) 42 inch TV. Now we have a 60 inch LED Samsung in the living room.
Nice. I was thinking of getting a bigger one as well, but it would have been useless since my living room is a bit cramped and a set of 50" or more wouldn't be able to show its strenghts.
Yay, Leo has returned. Sounds like you've had too much sex.
Not sure if he wants me to say what happened, but he was trying to be a good noble person and of course got injured cause of it. Poor Leo.
Mario Kart 7 is REALLY good. I'm very impressed with the new tracks so far. Shy Guy Bazaar and Rock Mountain are already right up there with some of their classic track designs. The gliding is a great addition, though I'm not sold on the underwater segments. Maybe those seem more impressive with the right upgrades.
Also yesterday I finally got around to downloading Shantae: Risky's Revenge. That was great, but I was surprised how short it was. Beat it in just under 5 hours. Still there was some good challenge, and as per usual WayForward just knows how to do 2-D gaming better than anyone else around these days. They seem to remember some key things about 16 bit game designs that other companies have somehow forgotten.
Thanks. I don't know if it was noble or just plain stupid. I was walking down by Washington Square park when I witnessed one guy on top of another (seemingly) wailing on him and calling him a faggot. THAT got to me so I yelled at the guy and tried to drag him off the other. Turns out they were brothers, and it looked much worse than it actually was. The third person that was there shoved me when I grabbed one of the brothers, I lost my footing and landed right on top of a fire hydrant. Three fractured ribs later...
I need to get your friend code!
^ Ouch!
Friend codes hurt?
Yes, they sure do!
Heeeey! I see wut you did there!
I LOOOOVE how you can crank up the 3D ALLLLLLLL the way. The tracks seem to extend into the distance more... and STILL no ghosting effect!
I remember reading an article at one time saying how MK7 was the best example of 3D/Graphics on the 3DS and now I completely understand why!
