^ Looks exactly the same on Xbox.

Its close...but no the PC version maxed out looks better. I realise its hard to tell in pics. I'm not posting these to prove that it looks better though. I'm posting them just because I can.

Deus Ex 3 as a whole is a great looking game, but its not really a PC pusher, even maxed out. The tech specs they recommend for this game are really not needed. I think they recommend a Radeon 4870 card, when all you really need is a 3800 series card which is what the Xbox is based on I believe. The Witcher 2 is a much more advanced game graphically. That's a game that Xbox and PS3 have no chance of running at high-end settings. Same with Rage. It'll be kind of like Crysis 2, where it looks great but not really comparable to the high end PC version.

Most games on the PC are only slightly better looking than the console versions. Similar to how certain multi-platform games will look slightly better on a certain console.

Hello gents, hope you've all been well.

I haven't been on here for over a week.  I am back in CY and back at work (where I'm writing this).  Don't have a connection at home as I'm in the process of moving and my new place doesn't have a phone line yet.

My consoles are all disconnected and in their carry bags ready for the move.  Will be buying an HD TV set soon (will ask for help and advice on this as it's something I hadn't looked into at all) and will try to build a good living-room sound system both for games and movies as well as for my music set-up.  So I should be moving into the 21st century and start enjoying HD games with surround sound before too long.  Excited.

I came very close to buying a 3DS at Gatwick airport.  They had a bundle with a game (from several including Zelda) for £135 which is a bloody steal.  Sadly they were all out of Zelda and there was nothing else I was craving to play so I told him to call it off.  Anyway, now with the extra thumb-nub housing thingymajig I'm not sure I will want one at all.

Good news is Xenoblade (and a bunch of other games I'd ordered) finally arrived yesterday (I ordered it prior to release) and I look forward to trying it, though it won't be easy to find much time to put in.  Still waiting on Yakuza 4 though angry

Good luck to Nintendo getting rid of the stigma in that case also, and my sympathy to a royally pissed gg.

Why do you guys think I would be pissed? I'd roll my eyes and laugh more than anything. Looks like it's just another capcom monster hunter based controller like the Wii CC Pro. No way am I thinking that I would have to strap that crap to 3DS for the majority of games.

Personally I just want a 3DS with higher res cameras for the 3D photos which an excellent feature.

Hiya Bugs.

With your HDTV purchase I would read reviews first and specifically look for great upscaling performance and probably get one with a VGA input too. Bravia's are suppossed to have great upscaling, the new ones will be Bravia engine 3 or 4 I'm guessing.

Saw scans of MH3G but don't have them in HQ to post here, I'll just post one small one. The assets seem to look the same as the Wii version, not downgraded like Portable 3rd, plus it has new enhancements like proper shadows, not the teardrop shadows used on Wii. Good stuff.
tri_g-1.jpg

And yeah I really really hope that monstrosity is a Mon Hun exclusive accessory (which seems to be optional too, screenshots show camera controls on the touch screen which would be unecessary with this setup), not something to integrate in a later 3DS revision or have other games use... It's a really dumb move if not. It's early enough to be redeemable, but they'll piss many people off, and lose the faith of many more that planned to get the system but hadn't yet too... It's not like the Motion Plus deal, that came 4 years later and attempted to refresh the system, not a few months later screwing over every early adapter...

I just read that the device will cost $10 or less, so it's not that much of a problem. I read an interesting thread on GAF that said it may be to make it Wii U compatible.

It's a pretty good idea if you think about it on those terms, I'd love to have the option to play Wii U games in 3D without having buy a new TV set and the extra controls, not just the extra stick but the two or three new buttons this accesory has on it - will let you play Wii U games with no comprimises.

I play my 3DS at home so if the price is $10 I don't mind at all as long as it's comfortable, that's the main point. I need impressions now.

You guys missed this from yesterday

Gematsu: Baiten Kaitos, Ace Attorney and more set for 3DS

.

Gematsu said:

Game Show event next week, according to reports.

Japanese blog Hachimaki, translated by Gematsu, claims that a side-scrolling game starring Yoshi, developed by Kirby's Epic Yarn studio Good-Feel, is on the way. A fifth Ace Attorney game featuring Miles Edgeworth will also be announced.

Also set for a reveal next week is a new game from Nintendo's internal WarioWare studio, and a new Etrian Odyssey title from Atlus. Singing synthesiser Hatsune Miku, a new project from Umineko developer Alchemist, God Eater from Namco, and Grasshopper's The Silver Case - originally a DS title - will also be announced for 3DS.

Nintendo is also to announced Baten Kaitos: Silence Of A Mechanised Son and Mach Rider Unchained. The report also claims that Monster Hunter 3G - confirmed overnight by Famitsu - will support online play.

The platform holder will also detail improvements to the 3DS download store eShop, which will begin offering demos of 3DS games starting with Super Mario 3D Land. A release date for The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords - confirmed at E3 to be a free download - will also be revealed.

The reports originate from 4Chan and 2Chan, and as such are to be taken with a hefty grain of salt. However, with the claim of a new Monster Hunter already confirmed, there is some truth at least in the rumours.

Nintendo's pre-TGS conference is set for September 13. In addition to Monster Hunter 3G - an expanded version of Wii title Monster Hunter Tri - Famitsu has revealed the Expansion Slide Pad, a bulky attachment which adds a second circle pad and set of trigger buttons to 3DS.

Yikes, so Tri G adds optional camera lock on. Maybe some of you noobs can play it better now. Don't imagine that makes it play liike Zelda or something though, you're still moving your character independently of the direction the camera is looking at, you don't get easy peasy strafing functions and such.

Jesus, just saw the side on pic of that 3DS attachment, that thing is thick. It looks like the classic controller pro, seems to try and make the playing experience more like holding a regular controller.

So thoughts on the following statements:

  • Capcom announce Monster Hunter Wii to come with a redesigned optional controller - made by Nintendo but Capcom help with design. It gets used for a couple of Wii games, if that.
  • Capcom announce Monster Hunter Wii 3DS to come with redesigned optional controller add-on: made by Nintendo but Capcom help with design. It gets used for an unknown number couple of 3DS games.

Is this really a big deal? Or are people making more out of it than it is?

I would assume Nintendo would redesign the second gen of 3DS's to have a second stick, because they can do that with handheld revisions like DS Phat>Lite>Dsi>XL.

They couldn't really redesign the Wii remote and chuk controller to work with the Classic Controller Pro set up, but they did stop pushing the CC and start pushing the CC Pro.

As a first gen 3DS owner of course I would prefer an all in one unit and not some thing to stick on the bottom - but as a first gen handheld owner, I know from experience that the hardware changes. Arguably the change from DS Phat to Lite was a bigger revision, slimmer lighter, sexier with longer stylus, better battery and brighter screen life. Even GBA to GBA SP had a bigger revision, folding clamshell design, rechargable battery, a backlight.

Adding a second stick to a new 3DS seems a little pitiful addition compared to those revisions. IMO the 3DS is pretty complete hardware and I don't even mind using a d-pad for camera controls like I do on most Wii games with a controllable camera, or one button centering. The only bald spot the 3DS has is the pitifully low resolution of its 3D cameras.

And the lack of games, which is shortly to be made a moot point in about 6 days if the rumours are true about all the new games.
